Dyson build quality is much better. Also, the weight and balance of the motor is much better for doing odd jobs around the place. What is annoying is having to change the fluffy head for hard floor which you don't have to do with shark as there's is Duo clean. Also, Dyson a pain to store anywhere as falls over unless you put dock on the wall. We bought a docking station for it in the end that holds tools etc, but still not a big fan of it. Battery life is super poor though. Doesn't last long. The pick up ability is ok, but don't like using the fluffy head. Mostly use dyson for above floor cleaning, car etc now. Dyson customer service was excellent though. No issues whatsoever. We broke the charger and they sent a new one out next day no charge.
The Shark is good but not amazing. Build quality isn't near as good as Dyson. The flexology hose kind of flimsy and doubt it'll last really. Glad I got from John Lewis as heard sharks warranty isn't worth what it's written on. We do like the fact you can store it and it stands up on its own when stored. It tucks away in kitchen nicely so it's easy to grab for the odd job. It's HEAVY though. Not sure why but the motor unit and using it with attachments is not comfortable at all. Not great couldn't believe how difficult it was so we strictly use it for the floor only. Battery life is actualt really really good and very impressed. We have doubl battery model and never seem to be swapping them over much or running out for a long time. We have an old shark upright that's incredible on carpets bud was rubbish on hard floor which is why we got the Dyson. It's annoying the attachments don't fit though as the hose is a weird shape and made of plastic which doesn't feel very sturdy.
all in all they both and pros and cons you need to weigh up. Hope that helps. I would buy Shark again but they definitely feel a lot cheaper made so wouldn't want to spend as much as Dyson.
Shark offer next day delivery but I ordered it to be sent to a local shop and they wouldn't take it as the box was too big!!! 3 days later I have it (edited)
I have a long-haired dog and a long-haired wife, and spend my life untangling our Dyson.
Literally got it for Mrs long hair everywhere!!! Was suprised to see Jo hair at all. Most importantly all the hair curls up in the collection chamber and not on the brush so it's clever peice of kit.
