Another point to mention is dyson repair standards have dramatically gone down hill over the years. Repair engineer used to come out and fix problem first time now they are not allowed to carry the spare parts for dyson models and instead often come out and assess the fault followed by ordering the part on their mini iPad and paying a nother visit a week later to fit the part. 2 week turn around time is pretty poor. My shark developed a fault on the spin brush and they had no spares left so was sent a brand new upright in exchange for faulty one total turn around time? 3 days.

I'm never going back to corded and I know a lot of people feel the same way, so I understand Dyson's decision. But you are wrong when you say Dyson are axing uprights altogether. They are not. They are only going to stop developing new corded models. They will still be selling their old Dyson corded models to anyone who wants to buy them. But if you can get the Dyson V10 at a good price then there's really no reason to go for corded as that is a very backward move imo.

That might well be the case can't comment on that myself as I think it's way overpriced for what it is. However shark are quickly knocking Dyson down at least in the uprights in recent years and Dyson's announcement that it is axing uprights altogether in favour of the V10 will more than likely move shark to number one for corded uprights, not a good business move by Mr Dyson.

Don't know about this model but I have the newer model very different design and on that you can lower or increase the suction with a valve on the handle. Looked online and it seems these old shark models have a similiar feature their should be a silver ring on the handle that you turn to lower the suction making it easier to move on thicker carpets hope that helps.

Does anyone know if you have to adjust something on the machine as it won’t move on the carpet

Yeh its like a pet model, really easy for the stairs with the lift out, i got 1 for my mum too because cleaning the stairs with her Henry is a nightmare. She loves it. Yeh i forgot to mention how it picks up all the hair you just dont see.

Had this delivered Sunday. Solid build and runs a lot better than I thought. Made the stairs carpet look like new.

Bought the argos one through the 20% off ebay at the weekend for 135.But it didnt come with the true pet part,so this is a good deal.Good machine though better than my dyson ball.Think someone beat you to post this though.

Excellent vacuums. After many years of having Dysons tried one of these and loved it from day one. Does stuff that Dyson cant and its a lot cheaper. After 3 years suction started going a bit, I rang them and was told straight away that they would send a replacement, it arrived the next day and I didnt have to return my old one which I have kept as an emergency spare. Cant fault their service or the machines.

Thanks for this, read the reviews on Argos, Google and elsewhere - looks like a good Hoover. Had a Vax but it fell apart

I ordered the duoclean, it came today and after hoovering with my trusty Henry yesterday it picked up loads!! Henry’s tired we have 2 spaniels. Picked up hair very well. I’ll be very happy as long as it doesn’t lose suction
