Does anyone know of the benefits of buying the Omega 3, 6 and 9 versions which are more expensive? Thanks in advance.

Omega 3 and 6 are essential meaning we must get them from our diet. Omega 9 oils can be made in the body so we don't need to consume them. Omega 3 oils are high in fish, olive oil, garlic and walnuts and are found in many other foods. Within Omega 3 are EPA and DHA that some claim are best consumed directly from animal sources but there is no evidence for this. Recent evidence suggests that the human body makes adequate EPA and DHA from plant sources. Our bodies are very clever at getting what we need from healthy diets. Omega 6 oils are abundant in our modern diets so we certainly don't need supplements. The scientific evidence is mixed about omega 3 and the most persuasive comes from industry funded studies and those that make assumptions that we should eat more fish (there is strong evidence that eating fish is much healthier than meat). All omega oils are shown to promote the western world's biggest killer: heart disease. We just need a healthy diet rather than supplements that benefit the manufacturers most. (edited)

They can make health claims because of studies showing omega 3 oils are better for us than highly saturated fats. However, these oils still progress heart disease so why would you want to take them as supplements? (edited)

Progress heart disease compared to what?

In my opinion most supplements on the market only relieve you of your money not any ailments you may have. I also believe studies have shown that there are no benefits to taking Omega 3 supplements but there are benefits to eating oily fish such as sardines or mackerel.
