sorted byWhere is 'your way'. I think it depends on 'where' you're eating and/or your butcher. Supermarket shoppers have been conditioned by supermarket marketers for years. The average Mr and Mrs Housewife go into a supermarket and look for a nice bright red steak and think, 'ooow that's a nice one, we'll have that'. I'll fully agree that red meat that is bright red will be VERY fresh. So fresh, in certain cases the beast will have been in the field the day before! That is NOT what you want. You want a steak that has been hung on a carcass for a few weeks in a cold room. The flesh (meat), breaks down whilst hanging. It will take on a dark colour. It will NOT smell. If it smells, it's not well hung, it's off. Influenced by the 'Chef Shows' on TV, MR and Mrs Housewife have ventured into their local supermarkets asking for matured beef. This has been taken up by the supermarkets now. And they're not slow at recognising a money spinner.... Cha Ching! Lets double the price!
The moral of this story is, forget supermarkets for meat. Find yourself a good local butcher (a rare breed, most have been run out of business by the supermarkets!). He will serve you meat of better quality at a better price than ANY supermarket guaranteed.
As to this 'deal'. It looks more of an abuse of the digestive system. I REALLY am not a snob but it doesn't look like a nice night out. I'll give it a miss.

Yeah a 72oz Carrot!
But if the beef is tough then no good. I got to say most 8.00 - 12.00 steaks I have had in the UK are GROSS.. Tough Right from the Kill and to the plate, no maturing.
Love the 28 day extra special asda stuff though, very nice, but expensive.
And morrisons beef is good as well, lots of flavour and very tender
But I don't like salad!
Good idea, i'm gonna tell my wife as well:p
No Homer! Don't fill up on bread!

Nothing against eating meat, but it should not be wasted in this way. What is good about being able to eat (or drink) more than someone else?
Plus I've seen free steak if you finish it promotions with much smaller steaks than this. 24oz and you pay a lot less if you do not finish.
Chuck a couple of orders of yams on the side and I'd be done for a few hours.
/ works in steel and not behind a desk with a fancy/false title
Personally I prefer my meals where more than one animal died, like a duck in a goose in a turkey.. I especially like the fact the duck died and got shoved up the gooses **** !
I ate that once and it gave me a megasorearse for a week!
Anyone who is impressed with how much food can be gobbled down in 1 hour would also probably be impressed by the biggest s**t produced!

It's 4.5LB of meat!! About 2KG.Same weight as 2 bags of sugar. That's a lot of meat in an hour!!
Totally agree about SA for beef, you should try a restaurant in Westfields (the older one) called Meat and Co. it's really nice!
Fat is a bit harsh. 288oz of meet on the table but not an ounce of fashion sense between the four of them! ;P
Whats her name?
Easy free meal here.
My plan would be 2 do this twice over in a single day.
Plan
1. Session1: early lunch. Eat the 72oz steak. Be finished by around 1:30pm.
Then hang around for a couple of hours
2. Session2: 2nd free steak, Which I shall ingest at around 3pm.
For me, it would be the 2nd steak that would be the fun challenge. The first 1st steak isnt a challenge at all.
After the first steak, I shall hold off on the dessert. However, after the 2nd steak, I shall definitely have dessert.
When does this challenge expire... I am going to travel from London, so I shall need to organise a day out to do this.
