This is only for PCVR (not one of my usual Quest deals, sorry). I spotted this a while back, but forgot to post it.

This is a highly rated survival wave shooter that looks amazing. I can see this one going big (they are currently in talks with a big game publisher). Get it while it's free!

The fever dream survival-shooter where you panic-load every round with your bare hands - because death is only ever a fumbled bullet away.

Test your nerves and your gun skills without all the abstractions of the modern FPS – no auto-reloads, power-ups or recharging health bars. So, grab your realistic 1940's guns, grit your teeth, and SURVIVE to see the sunrise… Welcome to the Jungle. Welcome to the Edge…

THE PACIFIC ISLAND OF NEW GUINEA, 1947 - THE EASTERN EDGE OF THE WORLD. When a freak accident downs smuggler Gabriel Baker’s plane in a remote jungle gorge, his biggest concern is keeping clear of the cannibal tribes still rumoured to live in the area. However, it turns out that something far more dangerous lurks in the cloud forest than anyone knew existed.

The Eastern Edge is a tense, tactical survival-shooter, purpose-built for VR.

WILL YOU LIVE TO SEE THE SUN RISE ON THE EASTERN EDGE?

Was given 2 cds and had nothing to play them on, went out and got a CD player. Now have got 2 Rift titles and need a gaming PC. Well, I’m trying to justify it anyway….

I was the same, hence why I got the Legion 5 laptop (the 3070 model). I noticed that the same laptop was on sale today for nearly £150 less than I paid for it.

Yes, you can play PCVR via Airlink or Link cable if you have a high enough spec PC. I just got my laptop working again for PCVR, I had forgotten just how much better the graphics are (but also how cheap a lot of PCVR games are too).

My mate said he could build a tower for me for around £800 but didn’t go into specs. Of course easily upgradable too though, but still costs. Wish they did smaller laptops too. Anyway, trying really really hard to declutter here, so will wait for a bit at least.

I'm hoping it will last quite a few years, it's quite high spec and well above the minimum spec for PCVR. Yes, desktop/tower PCs are easier to upgrade, but not as mobile. If I had a regular PCVR headset, I'd happily go for the desktop PC route, but having the mobility of the Quest, it makes sense to have a laptop (so I can play in different places).

The other advantage of the laptop is when I come to write large posts on big sales for the Quest (like Christmas and New year sales), I can happily sit on the sofa and write them (having the Logiteck MX Master 3 mouse helps too as it'll work on almost any surface and allows you to scroll hundreds of lines really fast).

Good luck, it’s not the best time to try and buy a good graphics card

Are all these free even if you've purchased after they've become Beta?

I think in this case this will become the demo of a full game (sounds like they plan to add more areas etc.), but at the moment this seems to be pretty good (and better than some other, paid for full games)

Hoping in years to come Macs will work with Quest, devs of virtual desktop did say planned, but not for gaming and never gave a date either.

You need to install the Oculus app on your PC, it'll check to see if it is high enough spec for you to play PCVR. If it is, you can use the link cable (or similar USB cable) to connect your Quest to the PC, it should then bring up the PCVR environment on your Quest (you may have to click Confirm/enable on the Quest screen to allow access etc.). From there you can view your PCVR (Rift) library and choose what game to play. Steam games are slightly different to launch.

I just can't get on with Macs, I like the styling and build quality, but can't get on with the software. I love iOS over Android though

I haven’t used a windows PC since windows 3.1! That’s was terrible too. Latest versions supposed to be better but I have to use edge for Xbox achievements and it’s the worst browser I have ever used on every device I’ve tried. Each to their own though of course.

I'd personally always go down the desktop PC route, otherwise your stuck with the hardware you decide on until your next full purchase. Saying that, now isn't the time to be buying gaming gear, chip shortages mean that prices are double or more at the moment on GPU's. For example, the cheapest buy it now on a EVGA GTX 1080 FTW on ebay is currently £465, I bought the same card 3 or 4 years ago for under £300, can't remember the exact price. Prices will go back down in a year or two I reckon. (edited)

And by that time will be a Quest 3 or Pro which would be more powerful anyway. It might even have a built in PC. Who knows for sure. Cheers
