Yeah, the camera supports rtsp. You just need to set a username and password then use the address in any software that supports rtsp. I've used it with VLC media player just to try out and it works no problem. There are two streams available, high and low quality.

    tp-link.com/us/…80/

To link directly to the rtsp stream you need to use the following format for the likes of VLC player but most cctv software will support ONVIF standard so you just use the basic rtsp address and enter the username and password in the appropriate fields within the software.

    rtsp://username:password@ip_address/stream1

    Hope this makes sense :/

My reading from the previous deals that the camera is brilliant quality and cheap at upfront to buy, but it's pity the important features are now locked behind subscription model meaning you end up forking more money paying for features to use then actual hardware over the life of camera.

    Adapter Input: 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz, 0.3A
    Adapter Output: 9.0V/0.6A (DC Power)
i doubt it would power with a small solar panel, may work with some battery storage.

The camera hardware is very good. The female Nic cable means you need to drill a 20mm hole in the wall to fit it so i mount mine on a box and just drill the (smaller) power cable through the wall and use wifi. The software is not great anything sets it off, bushes rustling even shadows.
The A.I. "person detection" mode is set of by cats, squirrels and birds and occasionally a human.
its good for the price as long as you can live with the limitations. I have three of them.

I've got both c310 and the newer c320ws and can recommend spending the little bit extra for the newer version currently on offer at £44.99 on Amazon.

The cloud service only offers rich notifications and the ability to create privacy zones. All other features are available and so far the AI detection works really well.

What is it specifically about the 320 that you think is better? And what …What is it specifically about the 320 that you think is better? And what exactly are rich notifications please bud?

Generally seems to be a bit quicker to load the live view and slightly better video quality 4mp vs 3mp. There are also built in LED lights on the 320 that allow full colour night mode. Although the lights are not really bright, they produce enough light to render a fairly dark scene in colour at night. I prefer to use the IR at night as it has a greater range and less noticeable.

Rich notifications include a picture preview of when motion was detected.

Both cameras support rtsp as does all the other tapo cameras I've got around the home. I think it must be a feature they all support.

There is a higher resolution 4k version of this.
Be toying with this but hear that now some features that dont depend on cloud storage are limited without a cloud subscription.
which puts me off a little.

That's actually 2k not 4k ...but for just 10 quid extra it's worth the upgrade

What features do you require? You don't need cloud subscription for AI detection, person detection, zone intrusion etc (edited)
