Just an heads up on people that want to buy this from Amazon, please double check you are getting an EU version, lots of people on Amazon ended up buying a United Arab emirates version and warranty don't cover it here in the uk, check reviews and maybe contact Amazon for confirmation (edited)

OnePlus 5T reveal tonight. Should be around £450 (ish) might be worth waiting to see what it's like.

The Note 4's still rocking it for me. No danger of a cracked back and a battery that I can easily and cheaply replace!

I've had the S8, the S8+ *and* the Note 8 this year and I didn't enjoy using them anywhere near as much as the S7. To me they made a compromise by removing the front sensor and replacing it with three far worse options. I don't really find the tactile home button particularly pleasant to use in comparison to the S7's physical button either. To me there is a genuine usability compromise with the S8 series - not for the want of trying on my part.

To me they should have offered one really good biometric solution and switched to swipe gestures for the various back, home and multitasking features.

I feel like the S8 is a nicer *object* than the S7 Edge but the S7 Edge is a better phone.

This is just for my use though, and many people swear blind that the S8 is just as good if not better to use day-to-day as the S7. (edited)

Not bad price. But unless you urgently need a smartphone within the next two weeks, then personally I would hold for BF. Can't see it dropping below £350 though. Voted hot as best price at the moment for those who needs this and not bothered about spending extra for the latest S8.

The S7 Edge will have better battery life, better display and better camera.

I had the OnePlus 5 for a week, and while performance was great, battery was okay, but software bugs and average camera performance put me off.

And the S7 edge is roughly 80 pounds cheaper.

I think the S7 Edge has a much better camera than the 5T.

Obviously the specs for the 5T are better overall, but I reckon the display on the S7 Edge is also still a step up from the Oneplus.

I've been using S7 Edge since it came out and it's a great phone, but don't hope for many updates in the future from Samsung. It will get Oreo at some point but that's it.
Samsung should release beta Oreo testing not just for S8 but for S7 as well. I wish they were more like Apple.
At that price. very little out there can be a match for S7 Edge (edited)

Hard to say it's 'better' than this as such but I prefer the slight bezels on the G6 to the completely bezel-less sides on the S7 as I get fewer accidental touches when using the device than I did with the S7 Edge (and to a lesser extent the S8 range). I don't think the CPU is much better than the Exynos though, and overall the camera and video quality - particularly audio - is far better on the S7 Edge. The S7 Edge has Micro USB though, which is a legitimate disadvantage to me; although it also has wireless charging. So horses for courses in some ways. I'm selling my G6 to someone at work for £220. Quite hard to sell them in my experience - had no offers on my tech forum at £250 where I'm pretty sure I'd have sold an S7 Edge for that.

    G6 just isn't trendy!

The reviews are great, just slightly below the Samsung 2017 devices but then in terms of price they are 30% less. Better bang for buck IMO.

No doubt a great phone, but do most people agree if you have the extra £100 to spare buy the Samsung S8 instead ? Seams like the S8 was a turning point and made all other phone design seam outdated, id guess that it will hold its value a tad better also over the same time period. Thoughts would be appreciated before I decide ?

That really is a very good price. I literally bought a used one of these …That really is a very good price. I literally bought a used one of these from cex for not that much less than this new price last week! Sods law really. As a sony xperia user for the last number of years this little phone is a brand new experience for me. On the plus side its very quick, takes excellent pictures (can't believe how much camera phones have come on, this thing has a 1.7 aperature lens and as such is great in low light) and has great volume from its speaker (a minor feature but useful if like me you like to listen to podcasts without headphones or external speakers). On the negative side I am struggling to figure out how to hold the blasted thing without touching the edges of the screen accidentally, lol. I don't think i'm particalarly ham fisted or anything but i seem to repeatedly find myself having to adjust my grip on the phone because it either wont respond (ie im already touching the edge of the screen and confusing it) or i've just hit something accidentally. Any case recommendations etc would therefore be appreaciated.

This is the biggest problem with these phones for me. Even with the S8 I would accidentally catch the screen with my palm when using it in landscape - eg playing Exploding Kittens I would sometimes find that I couldn't deal a card because a part of my hand was in slight contact with the screen.

The funny thing is that year-on-year Samsung seem to be gradually reducing the size of the edge on these devices, to the point where in a couple of years the big selling point will be that it *doesn't* have an edge

My favourite Samsung of the last couple of years was the normal S7. To me it was the perfect size and felt really good to use - no juggling or worrying about touching the screen, and I could even fit a normal glass screen protector. I wish Samsung and released an updated version this year.

It is considering Amazon's return policy and warranty. It's not some random grey import.

I'm not against last year's phones per se, but this year we've seen a move towards bezel less displays, and the S7 edge doesn't really have that.

Coincidently, the OnePlus 5T does - it have been leaked on YouTube - 6 inch display. It makes the original 5 look a bit dated really.

I've just taken receipt of a Nokia 8 and it's actually really nice. Camera isn't as good as the S7 Edge, though you can use the Pixel camera APK for better photos. It's also nice to have the monochrome sensor for moody shots.

    Advantages over S7E -

USB C - so more durability, reversible connector, more connectivity features

Slightly easier to hold and use day to day

Basically stock Android, Oreo coming in a matter of days

Faster CPU and more RAM, combined with already faster software due to lack of software additions from Nokia.

More durable design, less vulnerable screen. Easier to find decent screen protectors.

I'm a fan of stock Android so personally I'd rather have the Nokia 8 than another Samsung, although the S7 Edge is a good device.

Can confirm I have the better phone - battery lasts a lot longer, pictures seem a bit better due the the dual camera, mine seems faster and the fingerprint lock seems to work a lot faster.I would recommend OnePlus to any android fan. It is amazing.I'm tempted to sell my 5 on eBay for £350-400 and get the 5T but feel it's silly as it's just the screen changing... But I'm a sucker for new phones lol

That doesn't tally with what I've heard about the Oneplus camera to be honest, but if you've had hands-on experience then I'm happy to take your word for it. My understanding is that it isn't much better than the Nokia 8 though, if at all.

I considered the V20. It's the best phone with removable battery.
I hate the fact that they are forcing us to get a new phone every year cause you can't change the battery.
If it wasn't for the battery going flat after 2.5 hours OST, I'd still happily use my ageing HTC One M8.

If there's a good offer on V30 on Black Friday I think I'll pick that one up. It appears as the battery is not too hard to change on that one
