When it comes to bargains and saving money I have little to no morals. Heat given and just bought. Thanks OP
Not fake news read here metro.co.uk/201…26/ he said it on the Andrew Marr show live that he wanted it to be made easy for him to hire and fire people as he liked. He's been anti EU ever since they brought in the new vacuum efficiency rating labels which give most of his "inventions" a rating of B to D mainly. Most of his upright vacuums get a C for performance on carpets. James Dyson is only interested in one thing and that is making as much money as possible, he could have kept his products British but instead choose to sack over 500 factory workers and move production abroad just so he could make more money. His products are already overpriced and if I was him id be more worried about Shark who seem to be making vacuums that actually sucks dirt up at an affordable price.
Most people who run their own businesses are in it to make as much money as possible!
I personally don’t have an issue with him saying he would like it to be easier to fire people. Legislation has made it difficult to do just this. Any business owner should have the right to employ or get rid of whoever they want.
If orders drop and the business can’t justify the numbers of staff it has, it should have the right to get rid of staff.
I run a business. I should have the say on everything within the business and run it as I choose, so I can see what he is saying.
Cookies=crumbs
Vacuum cleaner=no crumbs
Yes you would!
Oh get over yourself. If you're living with one months notice and are one pay cheque away from disaster, then go and do something about it.
Theres no jobs for life anymore.
Fake news

My brother has this and the answer is no. You can't just convert it into a full vacuum by adding extensions.
You would be better off getting the V6 animal from Dyson outlet on eBay that is currently on for £139.99
You will never run a successful business, ever!
Let’s be glad you and Mr Dyson don’t make the employment rules. Those laws exist to protect workers, their dependants including importantly - children, and their means of shelter (mortgages payments).
I think business owners forget what devastating effects it has on individuals and their families if they lose their jobs. But of course - that’s not the employers problem then is it - it then becomes the state’s problem when that person has no choice but to go on the dole (and the enevitable standardised branding of a lazy scrounger).
conservatism well and truly has set foot in the country
That's what I like to see at christmas , humility . So it's fine that people live with one months notice is it , just one cheque away from disaster . No wonder Jesus warned the rich tens more times then anyone else. People like you are a disgrace to mankind . (edited)
What sacrifices do any of you make to support manufacturing in the UK? Do you pay more to buy British? Forego a superior product to buy British? Pay more for a British tradesman?
Those higher up the up the ladder are always set apart and labelled evil, when what they do is no different to the rest of us. I don’t subscribe to the convenient argument the “poor” are somehow better, meek, honourable and would behave differently given the opportunity to be rich. They simply behave in the same manner on a scale commensurate with their means. Given the opportunity the vast majority would behave the same, just look at footballers who are largely drawn from the poor/middle classes.
With respect to Dyson I understand he comes from middle class background. I believe his father died when he was only 10, so he’s hardly had an easy ride. He didn’t inherit his business, but built it from the ground up. He continues to work when he could put his feet up in the knowledge his family are secure for generations. So no I don’t buy the he’s an evil money hungry Man narrative.
I think he really cares about what he’s built. He wants it to grow and continue to flourish. The drive that dragged him to where he is hasn’t extinguished.
As a business owner myself I can see his piont in many respects. He’s looking to the future. To the competition. Most of them manufacture outside of the prosperous west. Some of them may be more dynamic as they are less encumbered by employment legislation. Particularly new disruptive forces rearing their head in the east. We’ve all seen giants fall and falter. Companies that seemed like they would forever dominate. He dealt some of the blows that made the likes of Hoover falter, so I’m sure he’s looking down for the disruptive forces heading in Dysons direction.
People should consider he has made a significant net contribution to the prosperity of this country.
Every bit of legislation that affords workers rights also makes a company less dynamic and less competitive. We are not apart from the rest of the world, we are competing with the likes of China and India. Big companies can and do fail. So whilst we all want protection for the average hard working individual there are two sides to the equation. It doesn’t make the founder and owner of a company evil simply because he espouses a view he believes to be inthe long term benefit of his business and hence his employees and the country in general. If the product is faulty then take it back. 30 days is irrelevant if it doesn’t work.
Technically you have up to 6 years to return faulty goods. Realistically it would be a lot less for a £100 vacuum cleaner.
I would be taking this back to the retailer if it broke within the first year quoting the Sales of Goods act 1979.

It is an unfortunate fact of life these days, no jobs are for life any more.
Id like to know that too
In this celebrity driven world, the answer is probably ‘yes’.
I had him for aspiring to be a successful inventor (which he has clearly succeeded at) rather than aspiring to be a celebrity but there you go. (edited)
My mum has one of the older hand held ones and had it for about 5 years, if you keep the filters clean they last a long time
Business owners don’t forget the devastating impact on individuals who loose their job. Ultimately, if the business fails, everyone looses their jobs, including the owner, so it’s even on the business owners mind (maybe not so much at the high levels of Dyson or Sugar).
People who run businesses have generally taken a massive risk and made a significant investment. I have seen many people loose everything they have when a business goes down, that impacts everyone from the owner down to each employee.
The point being made is that if you can save a business by letting go one member of staff, then why not? Surely one person on the dole is better then 12?
It hasn't helped that constantly lazy, piss taking employees exist as well, many employees should be fired for sheer laziness, audacity and such like but can't easily be got rid of.
It's not just business owners that are the problem here.
HOT DEAL by the way.
I run a business too and really couldn't afford redundancy payments due to a downturn in business. BUT, Dyson isn't a small business. If you or I was making those statements, it comes with a level of understanding, but for Dyson to make them, comes with contempt for his staff.
Did you use the code?
Thanks for link. Excellent 🖒
Crap. You need the v6 trigger pro with the turbo tool for carpet.
