About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
Seems a decent price for those looking for a basic CCTV system, next best price 249.99 so decent saving to be had. IMO would need a hard drive adding to utilise its full potential.
Expandable 8-channel surveillance system with 4 weatherproof PRO-1080MSB security cameras. Up to 30m night vision or up to 40m in ambient light with the powerful infrared night vision. Cameras feature state-of-the-art True Detect PIR motion sensors designed to reliably detect people, cars, large pets and other large heat-generating objects. With more accurate motion detection, notifications and recordings are more reliable, eliminating false triggers such as falling leaves, bugs and rain. System comes with 32GB SD card storage for up to 14 days of recording. Remote viewing via smartphone or tablet using the Homesafe app. Works with Google Assistant by connecting Google Chromestick to TV. Ideal for medium-sized homes and businesses.

sorted byAfter going to a CCTV specialist he recommended hikvision but the software on that was awful too, so dated.
I've now gone for Reolink and have zero regrets. The best IMO.
Yes it would, I was merely trying to help anyone that doesn't know anything about CCTV that might look and think it's a good system. I found it awful, constantly corrupted data, the system settings changed by themselves, the app rarely connected properly, so many functions missing. Etc etc.
If cost was the single deciding factor there any many systems so much cheaper than this, you can even get a hikvision system cheaper than this. Or for almost half the price you can get a sannce which are fairly well reviewed.
IMO this isn't worth £50 never mind almost £200. (edited)
I can only assume they mean recording movement rather than 24hour. I do agree that it is strange not to include a HD. Luckily I have a redundant Sky+ box I can pilfer from
They're plug and play, a quick setup Wizard and they're recording - the difficult part is dealing with the cabling around the house properly!
Of course, the people that this sort of package is aimed at are only interested un the letters 'HD'. And Swann( & others) know this. (edited)
These Swann ones have the heat sensors. Unlike a lot of the others, which is surprising.
£400 is what I paid for the swann system not the reolink. The reolink cost £159 for the box and then £49 for each camera (edited)
Reolink is great, although my only negativity is the motion sensitivity as any slight movement such as a leaf falling or the wind blowing sets it off. I think I need to experiment with the settings so its less sensitive, but still does the required job. Still happy with it though!
Any suggestions would be welcomed?
The problem with email notifications is that you will get hundreds a day, well i did even though i set movement sectors. Birds, flies, spiders, wind blowing trees, turned out a pain in the ass to keep track of the notifications lol.
I can only assume its the lack of HD included (you get a 32gb SD card instead)
Seems you can add your own hard drive, I've never seen a kit like this that uses a micro SD card as its main recording medium. Sky boxes use proper AV rated drives so you should be good to go, not that it really matters as any drive will work regardless.
Yes
I understand what you are saying but for some £400 is out of the question (including me). I'd have a Swann CCTV system before and whilst the UI is a bit outdated it did the job and the smartphone app was much better. Email alerts for me is the main advantage and this worked flawlessly.
So a 4 camera Reolink system would be double the cost of this deal still?
You can plug in any drive but if it's not designed for CCTV/DVR operations it'll die rather quickly. Usually within 6 months IIRC. (edited)
but reolink would be double the quality and better remote viewing and remote access to the recording on reolink is fantastic
I understand this but purely from a price point of view you can’t use that as a direct comparison, a Mercedes is far superior to a Fiat but you wouldn’t be comparing apples with apples. If the price point was the same then fair enough but this is half the price and should be more than sufficient for most homeowners needs
I have reolink too, but the UI is far from brilliant
If you want to view anything in a browser, it's IE or nothing.
The app is pretty decent, but just offers standard functionality.
Those others must be terrible for you to think Reolink is that good
Amazon have some 5MP 2TB kits for around the £300 mark, they’re using Hikvision DVR’s and Cameras.
They really are bad yes, the best is nest but the monthly running costs are crazy. Strange you say about the browser as I use Chrome with no issues.
How are you accessing it? When I put in the IP for the NVR, it prompts me to install some add in, but their support told me it only works with IE
I did toy with building my own security system using on of the open source offerings, but decided it was easier to get something off the shelf
Ditto car dash cams.
So far (only one day in) the heat sensor seems to eliminate these false triggers
I’m after a POE system too
They do ones with heat sensors? That sounds pricey.
