If this is a 12-month sub and the payment needs to be done in full upfront then I’d probably not go for it. Reason: I’ve been on Turkish monthly sub for 2+ years now, each time depending on global economy I’ve paid between £1.57-£4.93max. This is due to the rise and fall of Turkish currency against the GBP. So although I’m paying 49.99TRY (now 77.99) each month, at an average it works out cheaper than a flat rate of whatever todays price for 77.99TRY in GBP is.

My point is if you end up paying a flat rate of £4.93/month before hand for 12mo and the going rate of Turkish currency is lower you’re still paying more than you should some months? I hope that makes sense. (edited)

Bit off topic but had an odd one with my Turkish account the other day that others may find happens to them.

Had the account for several years and paying via Revolut. Revolut in their unhelpful, infinite wisdom decided to kill the card that still had a couple of years to run and replace it with one with a completely different number. The next time Netflix tried to take the sub after this it obviously failed and I got an email with a link to sort it as well as all my devices having the access locked.

Flicked the vpn on and clicked the email link and tried to put in new details which was fine until it got to the card validation via text message popped up. None of the fake sms services seem to be working currently so gave up on that route. Decided to cough up for a full price UK month just to get the account active again and buy time to sort it later.

Here's where it got strange, went to my account again, no vpn, chrome knew it was in the UK, and it gave all the stuff about payment method not working so I added the new Revolut number and this time it said to validate via the Revolut app, I did and then got a congratulations message in Netflix saying my subscription had been successfully paid at the ongoing rate of TL77.99. Sure enough, Netflix took £3.95 from my Revolut account and access was restored.

I don't necessarily think you have to create a "turkish account". Just a regular account, fire up your VPN and redeem the vouchers.

Right, just been on chat with Netflix and I'm all good to go with my virtual Revolut card.

I started by saying that I needed to complete the in-chat payment form. They didn't even question me and popped up the payment screen. Filled in the details and they then said it had been completed. I then got an immediate message from Revolut saying 1TL had been taken. That was it. I was on with them for about 2 mins and all sorted.

If you have a Turkish account and want to add a card on, just do this.

Holy moly just sorted mine. My Revolut card had just expired (was using Revolut for 2.5 years via vpn - Revolut card paid in Turkish lira - never a problem.) It asked to update card details so I tried it through my phone and wouldn’t allow me todo it - wanted a Turkish mob to confirm. Tried all the Turkish and receiver numbers - no luck.

—— how did I do it?

I can’t quite believe this and I am amazed it hasn’t been discussed here yet. As my tv was already setup and connected to Netflix - I just booted up Netflix on the tv. - I tried logging on and it said error with payment. Asked me to edit the payment details ON MY TV so I just put in a new Revolut card and bingo. Payment taken as Turkish lira (£3.93 for 5screen full 4K) and rocking again.

    Goodluck everyone !!!! (edited)

This is how you bypass Turkish phone number:

I just made a new account. I am currently in the Middle East but I am from the UK. Here is what I did.

    1. Create Netflix account in the UK (I used vpn to pretend I am in UK again)
    2. Go through the whole setup, and stop when it asks you to pick a plan
    3. Open a different browser (like on phone) and go to forget password
    4. Reset password and that takes you to account where you can add phone number in UK
4b. If you don't get verification text, close the page. Open a new page and go to Netflix, and your unverified number will be there on the profile
    5. Change VPN to Turkey and redeem gift codes.

I'm watching Netflix now so can confirm it works

Edit: Added 4b. My number is unverified and was able to redeem codes with Turkish VPN (edited)

Try chatting to support. Ask them for a secure form to add your card

Just for anyone wanting to solve the issue of needing the text to change your payment method, the secure form absolutely works as I’ve just done it with ease.

Fire up the Netflix live chat, tell them you want to add a payment method and you’re getting error messages. Ask for a secure form so you can update your details. They’ll pop a link in the chat, click it and add the details and submit. Boom. It took two minutes.

I updated my card via online chat with Netflix support

Ask them for a secure form.

First form will ask you to confirm current card details. Once confirmed they will send a second link to add new card details

If people have a fire stick and Netflix on their tv and are having problems (for example an expired bank card.) they should try logging into Netflix on their tv and changing the payment info using the tv controller. That’s what I did and it worked and kept it as Turkish lira and did t ask for mob no. 5 screens 4k for £3.62.

I think a total of 5 people (family) are using my Netflix account and never an issue. Saved everyone a lot of money over the past few years. (edited)

Yeah I’m on the turkey subscription. Originally signed up for one month as a UK sub, cancelled and then renewed via VPN on the top package and it was working fine but I changed my bank. Tried to change my card on Netflix and ran into the issue of it asking for a Turkish phone number to send a text.

Did the above method of live chat and then asking for a secure form, submitted the new details and it was done.

Had a TL account for a couple of years until I lost my wallet at the airport and had to cancel all my cards. Ended up with a new card that I just could not update to on netflix, even after using multiple vpn services. Today I had success by using the 1-day free CyberGhost VPN trial, selecting a turkish server and then logging into netflix account to update my card details. Used PingMe app to receive an OTC via sms, and voila

    Hope this helps someone!

Don't worry, I did the panicking for you

The short version of my rambling post is wait for the sub failed email and don't pretend to be anywhere else when adding the new one.

I'm guessing because the account is still current, even if on hold, it stays Turkish and is only bothered about where the card is registered when adding it so doing it with a UK connection means it goes through fine.

Finally got my card added, it was set to expire within 24 hours (couple days back). Current billing period was turkey gift card credit.

The agent told me the reason the card is declining/ showing error is due to the regional price differences and my current location.

After that chat, I tried to add the card again and got to the Turkish sms verification screen. Realising something had changed, I jumped back in another live chat and the agent sent secure form and now it works with my starling card.

Done on phone browser (chrome). VPN was off the whole time - as I read another post in one of these threads, that the VPNs may be causing payment issues.

After a weeks long campaign and telling them lots of lies, I finally have it. Good job too or I was legitimately going to let it cancel. £17...... no!

I hope this helps someone. (edited)

Just got my Monzo card after using a gift card under vpn so get the first month. Went on chat saying it wouldn’t accept my new card, they sent a form in chat and updated it. Took 5p to verify the account and hey presto. Netflix is set up to take 77.99TL every month from Monzo which from what I can see is less than £4 easy peasy!

Just got 1300TL of cards from G2A,after getting no where on live chat. It seems to limit the amount you can load/stack. Changed VPN countries and this reset it so could continue loading. Loaded up till 21 April 2024. Works out at £3.30 a month for standard :D. Thanks to OP.

So I managed to do this with one gift card as a test, and all seemed good. So I bought another one to top up for another month, however when I went to add that gift voucher to netflix it recognised the code for 100 TL and when I clicked apply to my account it said "sorry we are currently unable to complete that action, please try again later". Now the code won't work when I try add it to my account. Not sure what to do now as the code from Eneba was legit, but netflix haven't accepted it.

Just an update for anyone who had similar problem to I had above. I tried a few things and eventually it worked. Signed out of account, clear cache and tried redeeming again but still an error. Signed out again and googled whilst on Turkish vpn redeem netflix gift code. Took me to netflix again and after a few attempts with the code it finally worked and asked where I wanted to sent the credit to, so i selected my account and it sent.

It occasionally happens when adding codes sequentially. Give it a little time between the redemptions.
