Lebara for sure, avoid lyca for any cost

Please stay away, as if you need customer service there is none, I luckily if you get to customer service they are useless and give you ref and you get text/email after few days saying query resolved without doing anything and case closed, plus I run out of data and you can't buy any extra even you have money in you account, plus you can't send msg to short numbers like banks etc even you can balance in your account . Be careful before you join,

Avoid lyca as much as you can and sign up for Lebara instead. Way way better specially whrn the deal is the same. I got the 1p deal for a month and then they changed it to 2.5£ for no reasons

Customer service is terrible. Joined OH and did a typo on her email. Chatted to CS when she didn't get activation code and they said all would be sorted in within 48 hours. To cut a long story short contacted them by phone 3 times , that is an art in its self pressing all the right options to actually speak to a human, emailed 4 times, and on chat about 6 times. Never got anywhere , don't even reply to emails. Ended up putting bad review on 'Trustpilot' within an hour got a call from them to sort out the account. Asked if I'd increase their star rating , they must be joking.

Great offer! I know there will be comments slating Lyca for customer service. However, I've been with them for 2 months so far and for me it's been great. I haven't had any need to contact them yet, but the signal coverage (north east) has been excellent. (edited)

do you get Vodafone fast network or the basic speed?

    Lyca runs on O2

lyca no good on many ways also roaming cap is much smaller than equivalents. I'm wondering though what other pigi sim only uses O2?
    islander's avatar
    According to this list en.wikipedia.org/wik…ors

    O2 MVNO:
    Anywhere SIM
Extrem Connect (e-sim only no idea for EU roaming)
    Giffgaff (Limited EU roaming)
Kcom Mobile (Quite expensive and not sure for the roaming)
    Lycamobile (Limited EU roaming)
Sky Mobile (2 pounds a day EU roaming)
Tesco Mobile (EU roaming is ending in 2023)

For O2 roaming go straight with O2 avoid MVNO.
If you want cheaper go on other network sub brand like ID Mobile or Smarty (Three) or Lebara (Voda) or Plusnet (EE). (edited)

I took out the MSE 1p tariff. Got charged 1p the first month. Then £6.95 the next. So far I'm 3 weeks into waiting for them to get back to me with a resolution. Not the best customer service

to be fair, my Lebara 1p deal is the same, had to call/webchat every month to get refund, sometimes they failed to refund.

But at lease Lebara appeared to try to refund.

I ordered their SIM for 5p with plan included. I received it on 4th of November. I just activated my SIM because after these comments I wanted to make sure to cancel my plan. Turns out there's no plan.
It might have expired but I don't think plans just expire if number hasn't even been activated yet

Lebara has the same deal and is better for customer service than Lyca, and signal is much better overall. Lebara is on Vodafone which is objectively better than Lyca which is on o2 network. But check online to see if they have coverage in your area.
Overall I recommend lebara over lyca.

Is this easy to cancel if I don't port my number to them?

For example, is there an online cancellation route or do I need to speak to them to cancel?
    davidw59's avatar
It should be easy. Text STAC to 75075 from the Lyca SIM. Give the code to your new chosen or existing provider, who will close the Lyca account without porting the Lyca number out.

I would avoid Lyca. I had a similar deal plan. It worked for couple of months and then Lyca couldn’t auto recharge and i need to take some other expensive plan.

Avoid Lycamobile at all costs!! I signed a family member up on the 1p / month deal and they didn't email the pin code needed to apply the 12GB bundle to their account. Despite calling them numerous times, chatting with them on live chat, e-mailing and finally making a formal complaint they've still not sorted it out.

After 3 months of trying to get them to apply the 12GB bundle to the account, I've given up and ported to Lebara. Even getting the PAC code was made difficult as couldn't make any outbound text messages and they point blank refused to supply over the phone and kept trying to offer 50% off the next 3 months instead! Had to keep hanging up and speaking to someone else who was actually willing to give a PAC code.

Honestly steer clear of these cowboys, go with Lebara or someone else instead and in case anyone has any doubts how difficult it is dealing with their customer services, this is my recent call history with them for just trying to get them to apply the 12GB bundle to the account and more recently, calling them to get the PAC code:

bought a £20 payg sim from them and the item didn't arrive. Contacted their customer service and provided details they asked for twice, to no avail. They robbed me in broad daylight. (edited)

if you paid using paypal or credit card, call them to raise a chargeback, get your hard earned money back, pl

Terrible customer service. Had to speak to 4 people earlier just to get everything working. One of the customer service guys said something in Indian, (obviously rude) then hung up on me. (edited)

The worst company I’ve ever had a sim from. Been told I will receive a discount if I don’t quit their ****** network, decided to stay, given no discount as discussed so I eventually left. On wife’s simcard been charged twice for a bundle, was unable to contact anyone for a refund on one of the charges so I claimed money back with PayPal, 1 week later, sim card blocked and been told I need to pay to unlock it. Unable to ask for pac code as sim was blocked by this disgusting network.
Horrible experience every time I contacted their operators. I would rather use landline than using these muppets again. (edited)

I cancelled my 1p sim deal back in September but noticed that I'm still getting billed for it.

I sent an email to Lyca at the weekend and no response so far.

From personal experience, signal/coverage with Lyca was very good but setting up the SIM not so straightforward as Lebara.

Now it seems cancelling isn't good either.

My son's mum had her MSE plan stopped out of the blue as well for some reason and it was a week of excuses until I ordered her a Lebara SIM to replace it.

Pretty shoddy experience, in my case but YMMV of course.

Has anyone managed to get this and get it working? I've been using Lebara which was supposed to be 1p a month for 6 months, but they have stopped the service after just 1 month without warning. (edited)
    flyingflea's avatar
What do you mean they stopped the service? They cut you off? Have you not got in touch with them?
  23. Luke_Drjk's avatar
When does this deal end and how long can you keep the sim before activating it, 3 months?

Looks like the lebara 94p has stopped I got 8 lebara some for 1p and on the last day of the deal. I got 8 more

The first 8 are still in date but its so nice as me and my gf have 2 phones each with duel sim so 6 in total so 4 p a month for like 52gb and 400 International mins is amazing.

I activated the other 8 the day before yesterday as it was the last day to do it.

This offer is until the 7th at midnight. Maybe Lebara will put a new offer soon. They always seem to do so. You are really using those offer a lot lol. I think it is 3 months for those SIM as Lebara but many people have problem on the second month as they "fault the payment" and then put people back on a normal tariff.
  24. frank_filardo's avatar
I signed up for this but Lyca seems to have charged my card £5 and put me on the 15gb National Plus tariff. What's going on here? I haven't registered the SIM yet.
  25. Love_Bargains's avatar
Anyone else having difficulty activating the bundle?
  26. mrdibby's avatar
EU roaming is capped at 2GB (on the 15 GB one) and you just get disconnected without any text or understanding as to what's happening. Takes multiple contacts with customer service before they tell you the cause and say things like "it clearly says on the website" without being able to tell you where its stated.

I'm not sure why I gave Lyca another chance. Probably because I couldn't use the same Lebara deal as before. Anyways, I dissuade you from using them, they're alright when they're alright but when they're bad you'll regret having ever bothered with them.

Do any of these cheaper networks use esim yet?
    dizzypanda's avatar
    Nope. Neither Lyca nor Lebara

Hi all. Ordered a sim, so to keep my current no. I request a PAC code from my current provider and when I finish with Lyca and move to another provider I text STAC to 75075? Tia
    islander's avatar
No that is not how it work.
If you want to keep your phone number you order a PAC to your current provider if you just want to leave without your number you order a STAC.
You give those code to Lyca that will keep your number or not depending if it is a PAC or STAC.
If one day you want to leave Lyca they you redo the same procedure order a PAC or STAC to Lyca.
Your new provider take care of canceling the previous one.
You order a PAC from LYCA to keep your original number not a STAC. (edited)

I just purchased the Lebara 5gb sim for 85p for six months. Can I purchase this Lyca 85p sim, then port over my old Lebara 1p sim deal from last year, to this, then cancel this Lyca one and port the old number to the new Lebara deal I took out today.
I hope you guys understand what I mean. As I can't port out of Lebara back to Lebara. Its for my daughter and she needs to keep her old number, its very important. (edited)
  30. alshanky's avatar
Lyca has no mention of India roaming while Lebara does. Is that correct?
