Got this, great starter model and much cheaper than a standard 3kwh oven to run (edited)

    Interesting article on it all:

    bentasker.co.uk/pos…tml

TLDR; Using my unit rate for electricity (22p today) I would save 3.5p every time I cook chips using the oven and air fryer he tested with.

So if I bought a £100 air fryer and cooked a portion of chips every day and the energy prices never changed. It would take nearly 8 years to get my money back.

Good old days…. They were only attractive when hard to get and everyone wanted one…. now that they’re back in stock everywhere and you could get one anytime you wanted ppl are a bit “meh”….. human nature, eh?

Could you cook fish & chips for one, at the same time in one of these?
    stamfordblue's avatar
You need to put the fish in first for about 15 minutes, then add the chips and cook for a further 10 minutes.
Have done fish and chips like that in my Instant air fryer.

Got this in December, was sceptical about the whole air fryer craze but I’ve only used my oven once since Christmas Day. You’re not going to be able to feed the whole family but it’s the ideal size for one or two folk and it doesn’t take up too much space.
Fan is a bit rattly on mine as it gets up to speed but the noise doesn’t last for more than 30 seconds or so.

    Fan shouldn't be rattly.
Would get on well with my washing machine at the start of spin cycle!

We've got one of these. As there's just two of us, for the most part it does the trick for us. We do occasionally have to use the oven for certain things, but otherwise, it's great just for cooking small portions like a couple of chicken breasts, some chips, roast potatoes, jackets, goujons, fishcakes or anything else you can cook in an oven.

People focus on the money saving cost but for us the biggest advantages are the convenience and quality of some of the things you cook in it - it's very easy to use and clean, doesn't need pre-heating and cooks certain foods better than the oven can do. It also cooks certain things more quickly. On this model the digital touch screen is very easy to use and gives the useful information during cooking.

This gets a thumbs up from me, IF you are single or a couple looking for a useful cooking appliance to cook certain foods better or just to make your life easier. It will also save you some electricity at certain points but don't buy it for that reason as it will take a while to return your investment. (edited)

Air fryer definitely get things closer to fried than I've ever managed in an oven in terms of crispiness etc. Better chips etc.

Definitely healthier and easier than deep frying too which is a bonus (and almost certainly a saving there with all the wasted oil!)

Would like to upgrade, have one of the original model actifrys. Paddle is a pain, and it's kind of on its way out - don't suppose anyone has a view of both or basket Vs tray type layout? And if it's worth it

I find the paddle kind of limits what can be cooked because it breaks things, but then I guess wetter foods are a complete non-option on these?

I can confirm it is now showing no online stock available. (edited)

Only 3L? Good for a meal for one I guess
    ibblackberry1's avatar
Possibly the protein / meat cooked for two, but your need bigger if you wanted more at once

Wasn’t there a bigger one Aldi sold and everyone was going mad about getting one?

Air fryers are great! Try making kale chips in there. I hate greens and I seem to eat kale chips all the time!!

How would one of these compare, cost wise, with a gas oven?
    Kruos's avatar
gas always chaper than electricity, so more expensive I guess

How have people found this? I had one of them that lasted two weeks and then started bleeping constantly and the display went strange and refusing to come on.

Saw they were back in special buy today so got another but this one is faulty too. It does not make a sound not even when the food is cooked.

Never had an issue with the tower it replaced which was just too small. (edited)

Anyone seen these back in stores yet?
  14. natlol's avatar
Well to follow up my previous comment… my replacement one of these has just popped and now will not turn on. That’s two down so i’m giving up lol

Just to add, Aldi customer service have been brilliant and refund was easily obtained. (edited)

These are like gold dust to find. I tried 4 ALDIs over several days and found none.
