Great deal, for extra £3 you can upgrade 10GB sim to 100GB.
    dant198i's avatar
Do you do this after receiving sim? Ta

Can you get this offer if already with virgin?

I got a message saying it was only available to new customers not existing customers.

Just realised I'm going to have to upgrade my Cat 6 cables as cat 6 maxes out at 1000mb!
    Jonwillis's avatar
    What Is Cat6 Cable?
Cat6 cable is otherwise called “Category 6” Ethernet cable. It consists of four pairs of copper wire which supports up to 10 Gbps of Ethernet connection

Don't use Virgin Media. Their customer service is abysmal. It'll cost you more in stress and lost time dealing with them.

Great deal but find their customer service is terrible. They just don’t understand the basic queries and it can be a frustrating experience. (edited)

Your 100% right, had a problem that wasn't getting resolved after several calls but then got through to an agent called Faith and she escalated issue, had an engineer with me the next day and then had the retentions team ring me. I ended up getting the 1gig deal here for £36 (with no sim) for the rest of my contract. Always depends on who answers your call.

Wonder if you can cancel the O2 sim once setup?
    poopoopeepee's avatar
You can. There's a 14 day cooling off period for the SIM in which you can cancel. Seems to be no connection betweent the virgin package and sim. I did similar recently

Word of warning, went through hassle of getting a decent price on a new contract with virgin media in November and got a letter through in March to say it's going up by £9 (25%). Honestly such a an irritating company to deal with. Really don't know how price changes during a contract like that are allowed (edited)

    Sky does the same

Could someone explain how you get to this page? İs it through edenred or perkbox or similar?
    placidsheep's avatar
I just accessed it through edenred. Shame I'm in contract :-(

    I currently pay £36 for 1GB , steambox and 3 WiFi pods.

In contract till next May, tempted by this, will there be a hefty cancellation fee ?

    49903880-GwDEc.jpg

Anyone know if this package includes hub 5 ? Thanks
    deleted2388974's avatar
Worth checking if you can cancel for free due to the price rises. If so, then you should get a free upgrade to this.

Virgin media is down this morning across the country even their website is down

I appreciate this deal has ended, but realised I can access the partners site through my work. If I needed wifi boosters, it costs an extra £5 a month to have one, and then they assess whether you need extra, is that correct?

I already have a Deco M4 mesh system if that plays nicely with Virgin?
    Jonwillis's avatar
The WiFi pods are included for free if on a volt package (vm and O2 at the same address)

    virginmedia.com/wif…max

Deco M4 will create a second WiFi network so it won't be as seemless, but it would be good enough, and from what I read online dedicated mesh systems do work better than the virgin pods.

Don't understand everyone complaining about the price rises at the end of your fixed 18month term; that's the fun bit!

I've managed to haggle an amazing deal every time for less than an hour of work, usually half an hour.

Threaten to leave, tell them an amazing offer you've found elsewhere and walk away with a discount.

We're paying £16 for 250mb at the moment which we're happy with!
    Taksim_Red's avatar
Spending over 20 minutes on the phone after initial pickup whilst repeatedly telling somebody you wish to leave but without wanting to be made retention offers, nor have to explain why no interest in offers, before needlessly being passed to a second operator forcing you through the exact same rigmarole, who between them ignore your polite request and make three seperate offers regardless, isn't quite my idea of "fun." Just a quick update for you All .
My Missus just received a Text from Vermin stating that the installation package will be delivered sometime tomorrow Via Yodel …You where Bang on the money Mate! . They left it to the very last minutes for confirmation. Thanks.
if anything Major or disastrous occurs and somehow don`t get it Then I`ll update here.

Out with the Old and in with the NEW What a Stonking! Deal this was. Really can`t thank the OP enough. (edited)

£45pm seems like a very good deal, expecially when you take BT Sport and the SIM into account, but £109 pm from month 19 onwards seems a bit steep to me.........
    smashedhat's avatar
It's typical of virgins introductory pricing to hike the price at end of contract. I called them to cancel and they gave me a further 18 months at introductory rate with minimal hassle. Just don't forget to cancel/renew
  19. blueyes74's avatar
Cancel the sim. O2 are useless. I took the SIM on another deal as my voda had expired. No 5g in my area so had to wait 10 days for a 4g sim to come. The 02 app doesn't show other tariffs to switch too, which you can do once a month. I'd forgotten how bad they are.
Have had virgin for 20 years and can't fault the internet. Speeds always good but customer service naff unless you get through to UK call centre. (edited)
    hellobro2008's avatar
I agree, I came out of BT sim last year my biggest mistake, I travel around midland from London once a week and most places including London 02 network doesn’t work. Can wait for my deal to expiry in August and move to three or EE. (edited)

Should be 45 total cost including sim or that’s what the bundle says.

How did you get this deal?
  25. CHalligan's avatar
Can anyone advise on the best process for cancelling my current contract and taking out this one in my partners name please?

(I think) I have until one day this week to get out of my contract early due to the price hikes, but my contract ends in July anyway.

If cancelling and taking a new deal in my partners name, will I be without service for a period of time? Or do I just get a cancel date and then set up a new contract with an activation date on the same day? Also, what do they do with the kit? Do I need to send everything back and they send out new kit?

Any advice is appreciated. Currently got 500mb with basic TV for £55 so this deal here would be amazing if I could get it.

We switch to Virgin broadband last year. I've been with BT, Sky and Vodafone previously and never had any issues. Since going with Virgin we've had nothing but issues. We've had downtime on numerous occasions and the router is so bad,my kids are unable to do their homework on their laptops in their bedrooms because they can't get a WiFi signal. We o ly live in a modest house and have never had this issue with any of our previous broadband providers.

I've taken advantage of being able to come out of my Virgin contract early during to their recent price increase. The offered me 50% off my monthly bill to stay with them, but I honestly wouldn't stay with them if it was free. I'm getting SKY broadband next week which is slower and a bit more expensive and I can't wait.

I'd never go with Virgin ever again. Avoid.

I almost forgot. I still have a hard search from when we went with Virgin last year and it had a major impact on my credit score!!49905191-Ypjwu.jpg

Been a customer since the 80s with these, pre Virgin Media, back when it was Telewest. I left today to go to Vodafone, the best deal they offered me to keep me, was this package WITHOUT the BT Sport for £57. If you take this package just be prepared to leave this mob when the 18 months is up, they don't value long term customers at all.
    HellRazer's avatar
It's fine, when the time comes neither will Vodafone so it doesn't matter.

    I grabbed it. Thank you,
Gave them my cancellation , Disconnect on for 22 April , New install booked for 22 April or 24 April ,
Was on 350MB Broadband Phone landline anytime for £54.50 ,So getting this deal with 1GIG Broadband, TV ,PHONE and Sim for £45 was a No brainier for me. Thank you @Apocc for the heads up.
There retentions team offered me 1GIG Broadband and a Sim for £42 month on new deal .I told them to Shovit where the sun don`t shine, Been with them since 1992. AMAZING! None customer loyalty this company has not. (edited)

Do all o2 Sims double your broadband speed as on O2 site they don't list many sim only deals.

But there are cheaper ones on uSwitch
    49916862-raakq.jpg
    kevann's avatar

Yes That's the deal Mate they will double the Data from 50 GB to 100 GB(Same for the 6GB) If you get this and cancel the Vermin 02 sim , Make sure to bolster the Data in your 02 priority once the 50GIG sim arrives and is setup ASAP to avoid any complications

Sim was delivered today for the missus and they sent 1st bill from 4th April , So I will have to cancel within 2 weeks , So that's before 18th April.
People... Don`t get caught out by 02 and the changed your mind opt out option. it is different than my virgin install date of 22 April. Be vigilante on your contract start dates with 02, Vermin, and you will be fine.

    Update:

I will be cancelling the 02 sim, Sim received today shows ONLY 5GB data which is bolstered to 10GB Contracted start date = 3rd April for me in the 02 login webpage... Very sneaky of them n Vermin.
Will be cancelling ASAP the Sim. if I need another? Highly unlikely as I read the T/C set out on the Vermin page and it states you contract are separate, So it`s all good , I will just get the £12 month £50GB Deal and bolster this to 100GB if it is actually needed... Again I believe that it`s not a problem whatever I decide.
Missus is on GiffGaff paying £6 month for a pile of poop data so it`s a no brainer for her to move her number to 02 and get the £12 Sim deal for a superior deal for £6 more a month. (edited)

O2 sim cancelled, was pretty easy.
    Jonwillis's avatar
Not easy for me taken just over an hour.

25min queue, transferred to another agent, they mute me and can't fix it. So I can hear them but they can't hear me.

Call up again, 20min queue, disconnected before getting to any agent

Call up again, 25min queue, put though to cancellations but disconnected whilst put on hold.

4th time, I just called sales to skip the queue. They put me though but still 10min wait, finally this guy issues the cancellation.

Fyi - Virgin media confirmed to me in WhatsApp that cancellation of the SIM has no effect on the package. So I have that in writing.

We already have an O2 SIM, so don't need another one.

Crazy that this came about as they tried to increase my £45 bill to £60 per month. Now they have to provide me all new upgraded equipment, give me 4 times faster Internet and charge me £14 less per month. Mental
    Jonwillis's avatar
Indeed. If so works I'm going from £56 (was to be £71 after price rise) to £31 and double the speed.

Just Cancelled the sim with 02
Real crazy experience to put it mildly, after I told him to cancel ... The operator Guy (Jobsworth), started going into scare tacti's mode stating charges here there and everywhere for early termination of contract. I abruptly told him in no uncertain manner , Hey you, what with all theses scare mongering tactics , You need to change your terminology in future and stop mongering concerning charges and what not. I told him to put my through to someone who knows what they are doing with change of mind 14 days cancellation policy. After the earful he got , He duly obliged ,
Was then speaking with a lady who cancelled immediately , Told her please to send a email confirmation while still on the phone, I got the email confirmation ,
Really makes me so Mad that some of these support agents will try every trick in the book with these scare tacti's on some unsuspecting people who will defiantly fall into the trap. (edited)
    Jonwillis's avatar
Still no confirmation email here... I cancelled at 5pm yesterday and again at 10am this morning...

You should have seen me try to cancel Virgin media, they were flat out refusing to let me cancel. I was at the point of sending them a letter from a solicitor along with a massive legal bill (edited)
  34. alan.stevens's avatar
The key is to ask for retentions team with Virginmedia. They are the people to offer the very best deal. They offered me double my speed for half the price. But still left them.
    Mark_Hickman's avatar
Retentions usually offer poor deals worse than a new customer gets, its the call back team who have the authority to really discount packages after you cancel

My company uses smart spending and I can get this offer. It's not explicitly listed on the smart spending app (it only mentions earning cashback on what I assumed was the standard retail pricing) but when I clicked through to get cashback, it took me to the virgin media partners site and this deal was there.
