Seems to have dropped to £971.81 now

Yet still OOS. I don't see Amazon fulfilling these orders, but let's see...!

I have a steam deck which is great when i need a long poop. Would this be a better experience? I have IBS so spend most of my free time dropping bombs. Just need to know if this will change my life.

Tempted. Not a computer expert. Touchscreen? And how good is the battery?
    plewis00's avatar
Don’t think it’s touchscreen. If you’re not a computer expert do you need a gaming laptop? If it’s general stuff and battery life is important, would a decent Chromebook not be better perhaps? Less to go wrong and less bloatware too.

What would it's Nvidia GPU equivalent be?
    trambler's avatar
Around 3070 - sometimes closer to 3070ti, sometimes worse, depends on the game. But poorer with ray-tracing on than an Nvidia card.

I decided to take a punt on a "used acceptable" open box at £832. Will be interesting to see what they deem acceptable.
    Rumcajs_9's avatar
You better ask someone to film it when you open the box. There were cases that there was nothing in the box on used items bought on Amazon.

I saw this this morning. I was about to buy it...it was £1500 yesterday. But then I also saw videos about VRAM minimum requirements for modern games..it seems that now 12gb is the minimum for games released in the last 6 months if you want to play at high to ultra settings..so then I was thinking at Z13 and Rog eGPU rtx 3080 16gb gddr6..but then I saw videos about minimum ram for modern games..again..32gb seems basically now the minimum for having some future proofing gaming laptop..I could buy this G14 and then thinking about egpu via usb4 in the future..but then..who knows? So if you want the G14 with the rtx 4080 12 GB VRAM it costs £3K. If you want the M16 likewise £3K. I'm fine with a 120watt GPU if VRAM is 12 or 16gb, but no laptop below 2kg has this below ~£3K. So now it seems that the Legion 7 rtx 4090 below £2.5K seems the best compromise. Or a Medion Erazer 3080ti if below £2K. I'm fed up and still undecided.

Had this for about 3 days. Hated it enough to return it. Though I paid a little less for it than the listed price here, albeit it was an 'open box' sale and therefore not brand new. (edited)

Time to replace my 6700, 1060 Alienware 13r3. Thank you.

I went for the legion pro 5i... You get a bit more for the money but it is not as good quality as an Asus

does the 14" screen not bother anyone for gaming ?
    JesusChristFenton's avatar
This is always what I don't understand about "gaming laptops".

I feel like the vast majority of people when using gaming laptops for actual gaming, are gaming when they are at home, connected to their presumably 24+inch screen. So I've never understood what the point is having 120+hrz, QHD screens on laptops, especially sub 16' laptops.

Maybe I'm just not understanding the laptop gaming audience (as I've never been part of), but it just seems pointless. It would make a lot more sense if they just gave people the option, and I'd be interested to see how many people prefer a 1440p IPS and some change, over a 120+ hrz QWHD on a 14' laptop.

Dang that's a great price especially for the rx 6800s version. I have the 2021 version and at this price it's really tempting to upgrade and then try and sell my old one!

I also contacted Amazon Customer support earlier. I was on the web chat for 45 mins with 2 supports and 1 supervisor, simply asking "roughly, not exactly, is there any idea how long i may need to wait before being contacted? Might it be days, weeks or months?"
Their reply: "Im sorry but i cannot give you an exact shipping date"
I replied "i dont want exact, i would just like to know if it'll be weeks or months, and i'm willing to be patient"
Their reply "we do not have an exact delivery date but the warehouse will email you once it has been shipped".
Me: "I realise that. I knew that before i contacted you. I'm just asking if anyone knows where in the overall process the stock is. If you dont know, please just tell me that you dont know"
Amazon "we do not have an exact delivery date but the warehouse will email you once it has been shipped".

    Already Oos!

Wow, I think I might change my 2021 model, that price is phenomenal! Overall that G14 series is awesome.

Edit. What a mess in the specs section, what is the screen resolution and brightness? It says

    • Display: 14-inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600) 16:10 240Hz Wide View (IPS)

Then few lines below 1920 x 1200, and FHD is rather not 500nits (edited)

How would you guys rate AMD's driver support for GPU's in recent years? I haven't had an AMD GPU for years. I had an HD 6900 back in the day but the driver support was terrible and the updates were few and far between.
    Rumcajs_9's avatar
Way better than it used to be but still "always something". Usually minor issues but can be annoying. Never had any problems with nVidia
  20. plewis00's avatar
Looks like this one has the micro-dot lid lights as well, if that interests anyone.

Does the 6800S name bother anyone else? It seems hugely cut down over the 6800M and closer to somewhere between the 6600M and 6700M. I just wonder how it will perform in the real world.

Can anyone tell me how it compares to this ASUS ROG 3070ti 150w laptop? Given it doesn't seem like a throttled 3070ti it seems good? Ignore the price, I know someone selling one for a similar price (edited)
    trambler's avatar
The 3070ti will be faster, though not by that much (and probably not in all cases), but 3070ti will handle ray-tracing far better (though will still struggle).

I should have been quicker to decide to buy it when yesterday morning I saw the last one in stock. Or I should have bought the one in my basket "LIKE NEW" that was £1008. Just wrote to CS via chat and they don't know when it will be back in stock. My hope is fading..and they even reduced it by £28ish for what reason?

Buy it, it'll go so quick, if you dont like it just return it. All Asus rog systems are good quality. I bet it'll be immaculate

There’s a new 4060 releasing soon, they probably had to clear a bunch of stock

Back to stock, ordered. Don't miss it this time.
    pauk2007's avatar
Did you order it and you have a delivery date ?

To the actual laptop - for anyone who has theirs, mine is currently idling at 90C, Armory Crate (bloatware) seems to only think the keyboard has one colour (white) and can’t see the AniMe Matrix lid thing. Also it keeps popping up D Default performance setting and I hear a device connected/unplugged sound every so often (but all devices seem to be connected and up to date).

Finally, got a KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE when running ASUS software. Is this thing just broken? Because it’s on the verge of going back.

Note - this was from the Warehouse and while I did get the real machine, it is possible it was returned for the problems I’m having and they didn’t bother to check before selling it to me…

EDIT - 2 hours later, I've had enough, sending it back. Factory reset of the OS and the lid lighting still won't work. CPU idling at 72C now and 0-3% load showing. Probably is just a faulty machine but I never seem to have much luck with ASUS and don't think I will bother again. Be warned if you see one of these pop up in the Warehouse, it's probably this one!

Checked the other Zephyrus: it was fine and the lid lights work, definitely broke on mine, idling at 62-64C. (edited)
    Rumcajs_9's avatar
Alt + Ctrl + Del --> Task Manager and check the CPU usage. Should be around 1-2% when idle. (edited)

Did anyone cancel his order or thinking to do it soon?Starting to think it's not worth to hope for..
    Skelly2345's avatar
I'll be keeping mine up for a while although I am doubting they will fufill since its older stock.
Since this is a lightweight laptop with a brighter screen its kind of ideal for me.

Someone returned one G14 right now in stock at 2.09pm VGC for £1080.06. I won't buy it but someone might want it
  30. italondonistaavataurino's avatar
After reading this, I think I gonna soon cancel my order and avoid Asus:

  31. italondonistaavataurino's avatar
Ok I'm done with being patient, cancelling the order, look at the "like new" price from warehouse now,and still Amazon didn't care to restock the new ones

    Msic's avatar
Still not shipped. Whether it ships or not, and whether the product is good or not, this is awful customer service.
They have taken my money, and told me to wait. There is no update, no plan, im just being told to sit and wait like a child.
