Thanks OP. These are OK if you trail a rose up them to hold them up.
After a year the thin metal tube rusts from the inside and they fall apart if the wind has not done so first.
If you can get some canes thin enough, I recommend putting canes inside the tube when constructing it, to give some rigidity.

Maybe in addition to the above paint it with Hammerite prior to putting it up... that should help protect it for a while? Could also use a little quick dry cement in the holes where you'll be planting it in... you don't necessarily need to use a large amount that you would for fence posts, just a reasonable amount to provide a protective barrier... could use plastic plant pots, pour in cement then place arch ends in pots!

plant pots is a good idea with quick set cement, i did paint the whole whole arch after constructing it and used hot glue gun on the pipe holes, i do like the idea of cement in plant pots though, its erm mobile then, its a cheap bit of metal tubing i know, but why waste...such a throw away society.

You could trim the ends off and extend them with bamboo and have only the bamboo in contact with the ground to prevent rusting.

They don’t last unfortunately, they tend to rust at the base then fall over!

I duct taped the legs which will come in contact with soil. I'll see if it prolongs its life.

i have this and used galvanizing spray , but im sure you can use any metal paint, has not rusted so far in three years, i sealed up the botom tube hole with a glue gun hot plastic.

These aren't bad actually. Thought they'd be made of the same flimsy cheap stuff as the plastic greenhouse poles, but they are a bit more sturdy and if you drive them well into the ground they'll easily take climbing plants like beans, roses, clematis etc

They dont go where they enter the ground, they tend to go in all the numerous joints, especially the top sides of the arch.
