Be careful with the game pass offer. They sort of take over your account and its very hard to get it back. I decided against redeeming mine

The Game Pass offer is fine, BT just do a poor job of explaining how it works.

I recommend using the mobile Game Pass app (not the Xbox app). Click your profile
picture and take a screenshot of your expiry date. After this you can apply your BT promo, your current sub will
be paused with no time lost, and BT just add 1mth on a rolling basis until
your promo is over. Your paused sub will then resume.

You can go back to the Game Pass app each month to see you are gaining a month each time. I like to screenshot mine each month to ensure I get my full BT promo time.

To get the maximum value from this I would recommend doing the Gold conversion to get upto 3yrs of Ultimate for very cheap - if you are not already an active Ultimate subscriber. Let a month or two pass to get under the 3yr cap, then apply your BT promo. As this gets added monthly and you are always below the cap, you’ll basically be maxed out until your promo ends. (edited)

Yeah it's been around for a moment now. Ordered on 24/5, still waiting on installation..
    dealwatcher's avatar
I signed up first week of May. Iv had 5 attempts to install, 1 no show and a mini hub which is capped at 20mbs. Not the best start to BT services.

I have heard some customers have had to wait a year because of “civil” works that need to be carried out in order to install the fibre to the house.

Rant over but be warned that if it’s not easy to get a ladder up your house to drill the wire in, you may experience some delay.

Prices must depend on region as I am getting different to you i.e. 500mb at £37.99pm, 900mb at £52.99pm. Disappointing.
    Ollie222's avatar
They do, it depends on the competition in the area.
  4. FrankTheFurter's avatar
What happens when you're out of contract with BT, can you take one of these out and bring your prices down but increase speed or half to go elsewhere? I have 6 months left and am paying about 45 for 150mb. This is a nice price for 500!

They usually exclude existing customers from these deals (way to reward loyalty!) but you can always sign up with your partner's name for example and get these deals.
  5. PiratePete's avatar
I think Zen are cheaper, have a 93% customer satisfaction rating, are recommended by which and do not increase prices during your contract.

    Their 500Mb package is £45/month
  6. davybram's avatar
Just a note if the install gets messed around. It's around £26 for each missed appointment, and £6 per day for each day the install is delayed once they give you a date.
    plunet's avatar
It's a voluntary scheme but most of the larger UK ISPs have signed up to it.

Is this really a deal? I mean it's an asymmetrical service. In-contract price rises and it's not competitive with most smaller services (I.e. Toob £25, 18 month, no in-contract price rise, 900mb symetrical). I appreciate that is area specific, but WHY with so much gov. subsidy are they ripping people off like this?!
    prisat's avatar
Yes, you are right. It is all a joke. In a developed country, prices vary across regions/towns. CPI don't increase salaries in office. But it does increases the the cost of internet and telecom service prices even when we are on a "contract".
  8. randomandy's avatar
Around £56 on both TopCashBack and Quidco
    MeneerSmith's avatar
Worth waiting to see if that changes as I got £125 when I joined them last month.
  9. bigton3000's avatar
Are the bt deals still subject to price increase over time?
    Protoype's avatar
Yes. 3.9% (RPI?) + inflation if I remember correctly. So an average £40 bill will go up by around £10-15 each April.
  10. mr_bargain's avatar
Who needs these speeds? Genuine question
    freddyq's avatar

If you've got multiple people in the house / kids so there is often simultaneous streaming and gaming going on + added load of growing number of smart home connected devices like doorbells and security cameras - it becomes a requirement. Plus the fact that most times I look nowadays, the 500Mb+ deals are almost the same price as the lower speed ones so even if you don't need the speed, why pay the same for less?? (edited)
  11. Daray's avatar
That’s misleading. BT will increase the price after 6 months anyway. The prices in contracts for fixed periods should be locked like mortgages.
    deleted9453's avatar
No they won't. They increase in April like everyone else.
  12. Joel_Thomas4vH's avatar
Anyone had any experience migrating to this package from a fairly new package? I'm about 3 months into a 24 month and this is cheaper and better!
    Diabolik88's avatar
From personal experience BT are quite happy to lock you in to another two years, but this has been me upgrading the service for the same money.

Could be totally different for a lower monthly price and it also depends if you're in an area that is included in this deal. Where we live there's no competition from cable so BT don't ever do these kind of deals. (edited)

How do I prevent this one from getting overruled by the "Homebuyer's offer"?
    pauljcg's avatar
Put a different post code (might have to do some testing to see which areas get the deal) in when you first get the quote, then change to your correct post code and address later in the order.
  14. Shaun_Clapperton's avatar
Sorry to jump on the post but I'm wondering if anyone can help me?
I switched from BT to virgin fibre the day after my BT contract was up but BT have still been billing me! I assumed Virgin would tell BT about the switchover ? I phoned virgin and they told me it was upto me. No one told me at the time of the switch I had to sort it.
Is there anyway I can stop paying the bill which stands at £200 (disgrace) that's for 2month internet believe it or not ! That's exactly why I switched.
    mark9915's avatar
You need to cancel with your previous provider I believe.  Obviously it should be like other utilities where providers talk to each other but that would be too easy
  15. Lisaloudness's avatar
I signed up to this deal in Feb, installed in March - bills have always been £40. When I complained they said that I was subject to the annual price rise even though my broadband hadn’t even been connected. What a swizz! Fibre isn’t great either… my advice would be to steer clear of BT
  16. eyebaws's avatar
Currently paying them £65 PM until April 24 because of bloody RPI. Sooner I can get away from BT the better.
    RoivaZ's avatar
Same, but until June next year -- make sure if you claimed the free Xbox Game Pass that you've turned off auto renewal otherwise that will add an extra tenner once they start charging!

I'm kicking myself every day for doing a 24 month renewal, never again
  17. BestDealFinder's avatar
Got this was paying £80 😬 now on the new plan with new address £31.99 all these broadband companies very shady try to catch you out but great deal
  18. alloration's avatar
Community fibre all the way. Like half price right now for me.
    westy125's avatar
And what speeds is that? Dload limits etc?
  19. Shadowfax's avatar
BT have been my provider for years over DSL, Service was good all things considered. (£25 for 80mb) - So when FF came to town I jumped on early in November for £29 for 150mb. Now paying £34'ish for the same service after annual increase and if I want to upgrade to 500mb it'll cost me an extra £6 and a new 24 month contract @ £40.55 a month.!! Something VERY wrong with this Ryanair style pricing tariffs that these ISP's are now trying to push.... (edited)

Be great if we could get it in Blackburn, we're stuck with 38mbs with no sign of improvements on the horizon.

38?? bloody show off, lucky if i get 30 and i pay the robbing barstewards @ BT more than what there asking for 500 if only fibrus would hurry up and lay those damned cables
  23. John_Atkin's avatar
I've just signed up with befibre 500 download and upload,£29 a month and £75 Amazon voucher or Webber BBQ.They are working there way through the country so won't be available to everyone yet.
    John_Atkin's avatar
No guaranteed price rise throughout your contract
  24. Yuri_Cash's avatar
I've been paying £45/m to BT for 100mbps.
Just switched to Vodafone £32/m + £115 cashback for 500mbps since BT wasn't able to offer anything even close to it
    Ollie222's avatar
I nearly did likewise however there are a number of people on Vodafone complaining of poor latency depending on which gateway they connect to.

This has been going on a long time and while I imagine a lot of people are not affected it was enough to steer me away from them.

My contract’s up in 6 months on a BT900. Been waiting to see what the rebranding consists of and the new router etc, that’s why I haven’t renewed my contract a couple times when it was offering me a discount of £4 a month or called up demanding a better deal. Need that better router and even higher speeds!
  26. Titanium's avatar
Thank you OP. Used this to reduce Zen's upgrade price from £45 to £36 for 500 Mbps package and 18 months contract!

I had FF500 fitted last week and the speeds are not what we expected. I'm considering cancelling with the 2 weeks and going back to VM. It's fine for watching movie's NF etc but my son uses a ps5 and he says the lag is terrible. (edited)

Thanks for the info. Surely you have a right to cancel without charge if they're not delivering the speeds they advertised?
  30. shug119's avatar
    The download speed is guaranteed
To your router. Doesn't mean you will actually get 500 mb. Speed. This from BT customer service.
    freddyq's avatar

Yea I get that but there is a minimum speed you should get otherwise you have a case to cancel.
  31. xybp9's avatar
GDit... I signed up for plusnet 76Mbps for 27/mo a month ago and my cooling off period expired 2 weeks ago... now the upgrade package speeds are the same as this BT but at a higher price (40 quid for 500Mbps +9quid/mo vs BT; 50 quid for 900Mbps +9 quid/mo vs BT). They have a 300Mbps for 33 which I've booked in an install for in two weeks.

have to call them to see if I can get a deal out of them... but probably not. (edited)

I got this deal last year, within 6 months the price had gone up to 35.99 and my hub was as dead as Julius Caesar. Still better than my previous supplier, Virgin, however. But i will say this, i seem to remember Ryan Reynolds promoting how amazing the distance of signal was with BT but they must have reeled this in because now you dont seem to get anywhere near the ranges claimed. (edited)
    Daray's avatar
The imperative is to buy proper router. The routers from providers are usually rubbish.
  35. Yesgo's avatar
Very cheap, great deal. Stuck on full fibre 100, signed up Dec23 for 24 months costing me 38/m...is the termination fee normally the outstanding balance of remaining contract?
    plunet's avatar
If you want to get a new deal with your existing ISP provided it means they get a new contract commitment you will probably find there is some flexibility. Ultimately it's down to money....
  36. EliTeAP's avatar
I'm surprised at the price, considering I manage to haggle 1GB with Virgin at £41

Then again, I guess haggling is different to an offer lol

    Heat (edited)
  37. blackcoffeecats's avatar
Not a bad deal, but EE might still be cheaper with existing mobile plan discount (£5 off) and Quidco (up to £200). They also took a few weeks longer than expected to switch me from BT and gave me over £100 bill credit.
  38. mark9915's avatar
I’m on 150 with Sky for £35 and want to go to 500.  £37.99 for me with BT so I’ll use that to haggle with Sky!

Heat for the deal but it will be a cold day in hell when I go back to BT!

  39. Yesgo's avatar
Seems this deal varies by location. I live in the same town as my folks and with their post code they have this offer, with my post code it's £45 for full fibre 500. Weird
  40. burfop's avatar
Apparently we will get full fibre in our area in the next few months, don’t really need fantastic speeds as only two of us in the house, but I do have loads of smart plugs, lights and cameras and the bt hub handles everything really well also get wifi at the end of the garden which is 50 metres away from the hub !question is will it be better to stay on 58mbs or get the free upgrade to 100mbs full fibre? Bearing in mind that I’m only paying £24 a month after haggling the price down..
    Dan7712's avatar
I'm confused of your question... Having faster speeds to your door won't impact your internal network setup.
