Looking for some advice

Hi Oracles,

I’ve done something really stupid and I’m looking for advice on how the situation may be resolved.

I placed an order with Sports direct and stupidly found when I checked the confirmation email that my old address from years ago had been selected as the delivery address. I do not live anywhere near that now.

I have attempted to contact Sports direct but they have no phone number and it says on their website that they cannot cancel orders once placed. I have sent them an email/FB message and email via complaint resolver advising them that I require the order to be cancelled. I know that seems like overkill.

I have read some horror stories on here about Sports direct and years ago I had terrible customer service experiences with them so I am not hopeful.

I guess I’m looking for advice as to how Sports direct may choose to resolve the matter. Has anyone had this happen to them before?

Im thinking worst case scenario I can raise a dispute via my Credit card for the £60 if sports direct won’t assist as the delivery is expected in upto five days, and I made them aware of the incorrect address 10 minutes after placing the order.

Thanks in advance for any advice/guidance.

Hi guys, thank you all for the really helpful advice. I am pleased to say the matter is now resolved. Social media was the successful route. Sports direct cancelled the order so all dramas resolved. Thanks again guys (edited)

Write a *letter to the occupants of your old address asking them to refuse the parcel, or return it if it has already been accepted by them. Let them know your mobile number.
Most people are reasonable and will try to help you.

    *Google it.

Wait for it to be dispatched and when you receive the tracking number contact courier and pay for an address change to your house or get the delivery address changed to a shop or locker local to your old house. Then when you fail to pick it up it will be returned.

That is such a good idea, but it’s being delivered by Evri and I’m pretty sure you can’t do that

    Individual stores have telephone numbers.

Ring one & ask them for a number for online orders

If you have no luck how about contacting your old address and explaining to them and you never know they may be very helpful about it most people are

Fabulous idea, but I’ve tired already. It looks like the old lady who lived there has now died so no way of making contact with the new people. It’s not a local address either.

CAN I CANCEL OR MAKE CHANGES TO MY ORDER?
No, you can't cancel your order or make changes to your order. This includes adding or removing items, changing colours or sizes, changing delivery addresses, delivery options or the email address on the order.

Once you’ve placed your order, the order starts going through the system straight away, so that we can get it to you as fast as possible.

Recently I've received several items through Evri and each time I have been able to divert them to my local Tesco Express.

As someone said, wait for the delivery notification email and then check what options you have.

It seems you've only got one option left and that's to contact the new owners of the house it's being delivered to ,
If you posted a letter to them it would arrive before the sports direct parcel....
