yes they work ok, started a 2000cc diesel last week but I have no idea how when look inside and see the size of the cables 51366703-bQ0Bh.jpg51366703-eiPde.jpg

as Tedman says, those teeny tiny cables do not carry any of the load for car starting.

they are for charging & monitoring the battery inside the jump starter ( ie, so the charge circuitry knows what voltage each cell is is at & possibly even load balancing between cells if its suitably specced in the circuitry ) & will also supply the power ( at least 1 of the outer red & black wires out of that plug will anyway ) to the rest of the unit that perform the light loads ( ie the battery charge level indicator / light / USB ports etc )

the starting power is carried by the much thicker wires ( well the same thickness wires as used on the supplied battery clamps ) - you can just see the red one heading out from under the tape at the right hand side of the battery & heading left under the yellow & black weedy wires - the beefy black wire may just be peeking out from under the beefy red wire near the weedy white wire soldered to the board next to the gunk mound ( which i assume is securing / protecting the battery cell temp sensor wiring connections )

as mentioned, even though still week looking compared with the monsters generally found on the car itself the chunkier wires in these units are short & generally beefy enough for the task of cranking an engine thats within spec of the unit until the cut-off in the supplied clamp unit kicks in to protect the mossfets/diodes found inside that black box bit you plug into the main battery unit - those bits found inside the black housing of the clamp wires are generally the weak link on these things when starting vehicles if they are specced wrong or bought from unreliable sources.

( the monsters cables found in the car itself are generally hefty as they are often MUCH longer runs ( thus need to be beefier ) or are carrying big loads for much, much longer ( ie, start a car with a dead battery & then the car wiring is carrying most of the alternator output to the battery till its charged or you switch off the car many hours later if its a fully goosed battery so wires like found in these units would not be fit under those conditions (edited)

    Ive got the 4000 unit.
You can jump a bus with it.
So far a 3.0 range rover Diesel with a dead, and I mean dead battery. A 2.5L transit same issue.
    BMW 750i V12.
All started like the battery was new.
    Its a beast.
Plus it powers my portable fridge for 48 hours while away.

That’s good going. A battery around 3v struggled for me. I have the bigger unit too.

Anyone used this? Is it good?

It works great to an extent. If the battery drops below 8-9v it may struggle a bit. I have started big diesel engines with big starters with this.

Put the money towards a replacement battery first before needing this afterthought.. Jeez

A new battery won’t restart your car. My friend has a tv in his vehicle and we was on a job together, he left the tv on in the rear of his vehicle and his vehicle wouldn’t start. Luckily someone had one of these to hand. They’re pretty handy for helping other people out too. It’s not always about you 🏽

Helped me start my car multiple times as I don’t t use it enough and when I do the journeys are less than 5 minutes to the shops currently.

How good are these compared to noco boost plus?
Will it jump start a car which has been sitting for a month without charge? (edited)

My 4000 unit will start the car without a battery.
