Product description
The 27” Nitro XV271UM3 monitor from Acer is designed for gaming, with a lightning-fast refresh rate and other premium features.

With a Quad HD resolution the XV271UM3 has over 75% more pixels than a conventional Full HD screen, meaning all your games will be displayed in exquisite detail. Plus the IPS panel provides much more vivid colours as well as supporting wider viewing angles.
Additionally, the XV271UM3’s display covers 95% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and supports HDR 10, meaning it is capable of displaying a wider range of colours, contrast and brightness, which helps give your games added depth for a more lifelike feel.

With the XV271UM3 you get a phenomenal 180Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms response time, which work together so that even fast-moving action will look smooth and sharp, with juddering and blurring kept to a minimum.
There’s also integrated AMD FreeSync Premium, which means that the monitor’s refresh rate is automatically adjusted to match the output from a compatible graphics card, for the smoothest experience possible.

The XV271UM3 also features Acer’s ZeroFrame design, which slims down the bezels, helping it look more stylish as well as making it an ideal choice for a multi-monitor system.
It also comes equipped with Acer’s ErgoStand, offering a wide range of adjustment – 30° tilt, 360° swivel, 180° pivot and 120mm of height adjustment. This allows you to find the perfect position for your monitor for maximum comfort.

With DisplayPort and a pair of HDMI connections, you can easily connect your XV271UM3 to a wide range of devices for added convenience.

If you’re in the market for a gaming monitor then the XV271UM3 is an excellent option – the 1440p resolution, 180Hz refresh rate with FreeSync Premium support and HDR capability ensure top-notch image quality for an excellent gaming experience.

250nits, not sure if the HDR slightly pushes that up

What would be this compared to something like this:

The difference is the MSI monitor you posted uses a 'VA Panel' and this Acer Monitor uses an 'IPS Panel'.

IPS panels are better suited for gaming, wide viewing angles and colour accuracy but tend to lack in contrast.

Whereas VA Panels are better suited for media consumption due to their higher contrast and deeper black levels, making colours "pop" but they tend to do worse than IPS when it comes to gaming due to having very slow pixel transitions from dark to gray or bright shades, which results in a lot of visible "ghosting" aka trailing artifacts behind fast-moving objects when a lot of dark pixels are involved in the scene.

    Hope this helps .

The response time is 1ms GtG, 0.5ms MPRT as it stated in the details, not 0.5ms GtG like the title states.

As always, ignore the marketing scam that is MPRT. It looks awful and uses backlight strobing which give many people headaches.

1ms GtG is top notch though, it's what you want from a gaming monitor.
180Hz refresh is a little higher than most in this price range or even more expensive monitors.

IPS panel so great motion handling and colour reproduction as always (as long as the sRGB is right, more on that below).

The main negative is the 250 nits brightness.
If you're a dungeon dweller like me that's not an issue, you just wouldn't want to use it in a bright room.

A minor negative for me is the 130% sRGB out of the box, colours will be very oversaturated, too much for my liking.
That at least is something you can adjust if you like me you like the colours a little more realistic.

But to another positive, nice stand.
Swivel, height and 90 degree pivot if you want it in portait.

Great price if you can get away with the low brightnes.

You may want to change the title, either 1ms GTG or 0.5ms MPRT (I suggest 1ms GtG as that's the one people care about). (edited)

Cheers bro, I couldn't find much info about this monitor so I was confused with the response time because on the Acer Japanese website it says "0.5ms min-GtG" so that's why I went with it, I always try to mention the "GtG" response time on the title as the main response time in my monitor posts, and I put "MPRT" in the specs as well just for anyone interested.

It's a great monitor with great specs, it's a shame that the brightness is only 250nits, so for anyone playing games in a dim/dark room it shouldn't really be an issue, but if the room is lit most of the day then they should look for something in the 400nits or above range .

This is the Acer Japan website for this monitor I was talking about:

At least it has good colour coverage so should still be better than a lot of others

Could anyone recommend this or the HP Omen 27q for gaming on an Xbox Series X, but also for general computer work? I still don’t quite understand all the technical jargon enough to be able to decide for myself! (edited)

Actually forget the HP 27q, go for the Dell G2724D instead it's £195 but if you have students/work or Blue Light card discount you can get it for £175
