That card will barely be able to run 1440p75 acceptably in new/demanding titles, you will have to play on a mix of low/medium settings. I have both monitors (1440p75 and 1080p144) and a RX 480 8GB. But if you are planning on hitting 1440p144 in the future then get a monitor with that even if your GPU right now won't reach it. Monitors seem to last forever. Also the 144hz monitor will have LFC which will help at lower framerates, I'm guessing this monitor will be 48-75hz which won't have LFC.
https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/acer-nitro-vg271up-overclockers-ips-2k-144hz-monitor-3458180 Overclockers was selling it for that price and Scan and Amazon price matched. I got mine when posting the deal above.
Was it the red Eagle? Please share the link?
The vg271upbmiipx drops to £300 every so often. I had it ordered for £299 from amazon not too long ago but ended up cancelling for an Iiyama instead
The 144hz version of this one has been as low as £269 and the slightly better panel 144hz version £299. I recently got the £299 one and I am pretty happy compared to a brand new TN panel but people are reporting quality control issues with those models. The VG271P and VG271UP are pretty much the cheapest 144hz, 2k, "1ms", IPS panels but wait until they drop to £269 and £299 respectively now that factories are picking up again.
Anyone be kind enough to send me a code? Please (highfive)
I bought one yesterday morning but looks like it is just 1 monitor at a time. Keep looking especially around 8-9am Hope it helps someone (y)
Says in stock, but can't add to basket :o
Is it back in stock?
Anyone got a student code
fair thats a nice setup
I bought the WQHD 27 inch one with that code yeah but also want to get the 1080p for a dual monitor setup! Showing OOS again
I gave you one already?
So guys that have bought this, what is the ips screen like ?
I bought 2 x 8gb crucial, I haven’t really used it yet but I used it before the ram upgrade and I to was surprised at what it can do
What ram did you buy ? And did you see a difference in games ? Tbf I really surprised what this laptop can do so far
From the numerous videos on Youtube I've seen there's no warranty stickers but loads of screws to remove, ideally you'll need a plastic prying tool or old credit card as well to run round the edges to remove the back cover. Once inside you'll have a choice of installing an additonal M.2 SSD or 2.5 inch sata drive (or both!). Should easily be able to swap over the battery as well in a few years time if you need to as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LsNj0LEn4M
Is it easy enough to install an extra drive? Any issues with warranty doing so?
That deal is not going to rob me.
Dude delete post quick before there is no going back
Yeah might as well get something like this instead if you're getting a branded gaming desktop: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MSI-Infinite-9SI-834UK-Intel-Core-i5-GTX-1660-Ti-Gaming-PC-1-TB-HDD-256-GB-/113989724809?hash=item1a8a512a89
Is that not a bit pricey? I’ve put a GTX 1650 (£130) in a Dell optiplex for arcade emulation.
144Hz means smoother visuals and support for higher FPS but the tradeoff is a smaller screen and slightly worse graphics.
By Acer do you mean Asus VG249Q? And by AOC do you mean 24G2U? Also funnily enough, i heard the ASUS VG249Q had the better stand but other than that it was down to colours. Which is entirely subjective, meaning the AOC 24g2u over saturates things (could possibly make things look prettier) however the asus vg249q has a more accurate colour representation using sRGB.
As Azani said the differences are minor. AOC seems to have a good stand but some strange colour settings, whilst the Acer will lock you to normal overdrive whilst using freesync and the cheap Asus has an awful stand etc etc. Probably worth just going for the one that's cheapest [and available!!!] In theory they're supposed to be around £130-£150 each, not seen that for anything but the Acer though.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/eqmscz/what_is_the_best_of_these_4_aoc_24g2_vs_acer/ Found this reddit thread on it, it seems generally the Asus ones are better though also the most expensive. but really it seems like you can't really go wrong with any of them
Will they all be as good as each other ? For example I was eyeing the AOC 24G2U but there’s no stock in england so I pulled the trigger on the ASUS TUF VG249Q. Is the Asus or the AOC better ?
That's a better CPU for sure. For me, it's very difficult to give you a clear opinion as I buy my Chromebooks from the USA, and therefore get much more for my money. For $350, I got a HP Chromebook x360 with an i5 and 8GB RAM. At the moment Chromebooks are in short supply and therefore the prices are inflated. If you can, give it a few months. Just PM me if you have any quesitons.
Do you think this for £340 is decent? https://uk-store.acer.com/acer-chromebook-514-cb514-1ht-silver-1
It's that dual core CPU that kills it for me. Fine for a machine costing £150, but I'd expect a minimum of the quad core N4200 for this £. I had an Acer Chromebook 15 with a similar screen and that aspect was top notch.
Prices on models at this level should plummet soon when the Lenovo Flex 5 makes it over here.
The n3350 CPU is dual core, I suppose if your spending this much then a quad core might be better. 14" IPS full hd touchscreen is more on the money though. If all you want to do is stream video, browse the net and use office apps then this would do that adequately.
Thanks _Nickel_ Is it just me or is the buy button missing?
No, I paid £407.98 for 2. £239.99 * 2 = £479.98 £479.98 * 0.85 = £407.98
does the 5% off for buying 2 stack with the 15% student discount?
Haha honestly i really do appreciate it unfortunately the item says in stock but when it gets to your basket its no oos 😩
You're welcome, I had to post 10 comments to unlock the ability to PM or I'd have sent it sooner (lol)
yeah a minor difference, mostly to do with the range that the syncing works. it's not a huge deal but the monitors im looking at are only like £20 less then this and I would pay the extra for Full gsync
Is there a difference? I thought nVidia were supporting freesync these days.
Is this fully Gsync or just a compatible freesync monitor?
Most OLEDs cant reach 1000 nits and that do can only do so very briefly. Not really comparable to a monitor with real always on HDR 1000 or a QLED that has real HDR 2000+ unless you play in a dark room. Don't worry about any of this while you have a PS4. The best initial upgrade you could make to latency and frame rate performance would be buying an Xbox One X. Or a PC. If you really want to know the details, see: https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/asus-rog-swift-pg43uq-review.html
Thanks for explaining. I saw some of the higher end ones reach 1k. How much is the difference in input lag etc, I generally play PS4 on my tv and never really notice any lagging as such. What’s freesync/gsync?
I almost bought this at 239 last week. So price isn't great
Looks to be a good price for the 75hz model. Personally I'm waiting for the 144hz model (VG270UPbmiipx) to come back down to £300 ish, or lower hopefully!
Is this the top spec I can expect for a full HD monitor connected to a Xbox one X? I don’t think I want to spend the money going up to QHD or 4K
Tempting but will wait for 144hz
Go for 144hz but yeah I bought all my parts piece by piece for when I found a good price
Is it worth buying if I'm planning my first build in like 2 months?
I have the exact model. Wonderful monitor
Missed it! Would’ve grabbed one myself.
Collected one today, I'm not an expert but it appears not bad for £150. It can do up to 165 Hz, colours are adequate, only some very minor IPS glow (which really doesn't bother me at all) and no dead pixels. Only one gripe would be that; with Freesync enabled in OSD other options become greyed out, notably overdrive is set to normal and VRB disabled, although I'm not sure if I notice the impact yet... overall quite happy! (y)
Too bad they are doing one per store. Good price though.
Stocks available in most london area. Good monitor for excellent price.
Still in stock in some locations.
Can this be used for CCTV or I’m I better with a tv screen? Just need an HDMI port and this has 2.
I've got this and it's a decent screen, I'm pleased with it but be aware freesync won't work on Nvidia as it needs displayport which is a pain so I had to relegate this to second monitor duties.
well till now it seems to be doing pretty well on thermals..cpu temp between 74-83 after undervolting and GPU around 65-70
I'm debating whether to get this, got a couple of vouchers/discounts that would allow me to get this for around £880, dunno whether to get this or wait for the Nitro 5 (2020). Not an expert on installing SSD and does it come with a warranty sticker? Also seen a few posts saying that RTX laptops have heating issues?
I guess it was automatically registered when u went through ur windows setup for the first time
I haven't registered yet. I should do..
hey there. have you tried acer webpage for the your product info? is there option under "my products" which tells you the warranty status of your nitro 5? thnx
If your using as a pc monitor are you sat straight on viewing it? What viewing angles do you need?
Hi, is it possible to get a hp one?
You might have missed it but the monitor in this deal is 144Hz. It's a completely different use case to a 75Hz IPS panel.
Pm me if you want a student code <33
Just casual xbox gaming, cheers (y)
Thanks for the updates. I will expire the deal due the fact that there seems to be a strong chance you may receive a different model compared to the one advertised
The French version of HUKD has a discussion thread in which they mention that the images are not accurate on close inspection - ports do not match up to the description.
Good spec. But spanish keyboard and logistics from spain will throw me off unfortunately.
Tried googling the product code but all that comes up is the other EU deal sites, one of which this deal was lifted from I’m sure. Nothing conclusive on the keyboard but would be odd for a model sold in Spanish department stores not to have a Spanish layout. Can be changed to UK but obviously stuck with the keys not being marked correctly. By the way, strange for a department store to sell a laptop without Windows?!
It looks like you've got the Spanish keyboard (lol)
Now showing for £248
I dont really like being too close to a screen. Im like 6-7ft from my own tv in my room.. but getting a PC is just a better option for me now because I dont want a console anymore and PS5 coming out very soon.. i guess 27inch would do me better, wont be playing games too much tho
Thanks for your help
Acer Nitro VG271UPbmiipx 27" line has slightly different models at different prices. I have that particular model and its pretty gd. Depends on ur budget really. Never really looked at 24" monitors back when I bought mine. The viewsonic cx2458-c-mhd seems cheap but has a VA panel. Do bear in mind to check there is a port on the monitor that matches the port your laptop. You may also want built in speakers, or maybe g-sync/freesync compatibility etc.
Would you mind sending some recommendation examples of 24” and 27” 144hz IPS monitors please? I’m at a bit of a loss what I’m really looking for here. I’ve just bought a gaming laptop and was hoping to get a dock and a monitor to put on a desk.
More codes: UNIDAYS-INZGPV SBUK-L36HV00I
One of the many codes above worked for me. Hopefully Quidco tracks too.
Thanks just used this code . Much appreciated
Any more student codes, thanks
used this one. thank you so much!
Own this now. Bought it on Tuesday and came on Thursday. The voucher did not seem to work. It's a good monitor for the price.
Amazon, it's been coming on and out of stock quite frequently. Ordered it on Wednesday, stock arrived Thursday, got here Friday
Where did you get the AOC from?
What's the quality of these VA LCDs like?
Aren’t these just 60hz panels that have been factory overclocked?
