Yes, nice to see prices coming back down to BF before Xmas rush.

Gah, a shame its only 75Hz but easy enough to hit 75 frames per second with a middle of the road gfx card these days!

Acer predator G SYNC 27 2K XB271HU - £448.32 @

Acer Predator XB271HU Monitor 27 "- 2560 × 1440, IPS matte, 350nits, 100% sRGB, 165Hz, G-sync, height adjustment, Pivot. Ideal for people with nvidia graphics cards

Tell her this monitor offers 78% more pixels compared to 1080p. If you couple that with a 2.75x in refresh rate means you'll drastically increase productivity and finish your work in no time at all. You could argue that the increase in productivity means this thing will pay for itself before you know it 8)

Ummmmm....the kids spilt water in the old one..

Primarily due to the XG2703-GS and AG271QG having options to control the gamma (unlike the XB271HU), without such option (or proper calibration with the use of a colorimeter) you could easily be stuck with washed out colours (due to a low gamma). According to NCX, the XB271HU also has the worst overdrive (by a small amount) of the four (from Acer, Asus, ViewSonic and AOC). Also, the XB271HU notoriously (with a lack of sharpness control) can appear blurry and less sharp than the alternatives from the 3 other brands.

Any reason at all for picking those 2 ?

I would easily pick the XG2703-GS or AG271QG over this. Though, I wouldn't get any of them since a new panel is due for release very soon.

I have a Ryzen laptop with same specs I picked up for this price a few months back. This laptop (ignoring performance differences between Intel / AMD) is really quite well built. Was suprised to be totally honest, was expecting absolutely nothing when I got such performance for so little, was pleasently suprised.

The Fujitsu

Don't think people are reading the deal properly. This comes with a big bundle of extras: sleeve, mouse, 2 tb external hard drive, for free. Got to be hot. (y)

I am looking for a laptop for my partner for Xmas - Found this - what does everyone think?

Yup, your HP is made of plastic. it's fantastic.

Refurbished Acer 14in Chromebook (2GB/32GB) for £96.99 at Argos eBay
Found 14th DecFound 14th Dec
Looks like a very good price for a budget Chromebook? Obviously it's not the fastest processor, not full HD and 4GB would be preferable, plus there's the usual risk of an Argos ref… Read more

Got plenty of experience of purchasing refurbed tech for myself and family. 1) Argos: Not good, a bit of a lottery. Some of their refurbs must clock up thousands of miles repeatedly going back and forth to different customers. Quick wipe with a damp cloth, if it powers up ... in the 'A' grade bin it goes. 2) Currys ebay: Bought 4 phones, printers etc and never had any problems with them. After ten months use an LG G4 got the dreaded bootloop. They cheerfully refunded in full. 2) Manufacturers e.g. Asus: Usually top notch, as new. 3) CEX: Surprisingly good. Bought laptop, ereader, Bose speaker etc. Only once had something that wouldn't function ( a Microsoft bluetooth folding keyboard) everything else, A+ condition. Not 100% sure if i'd buy a phone from them though - you never know where they've been ;). Everything comes with a 2 yr guarantee. 4) Ebay sellers: Choose the seller v. carefully (e.g. plenty of genuine positive feedback) and the purchase is usually as promised. I'd urge caution about relying on a refurb as a gift. If there is a fault when you receive it then sods law says there will be no more available. Definitely i'd recommend thorough testing before you hand it over to the recipient. Some years ago i bought a Nexus 7 refurbed tablet (from Argos ebay as it happens) and it had a fault that only became apparent after 30 minutes use. That aside, choose carefully and there are fantastic refurbed bargains to be had.

Comes down to what whoever grades/refurbs them consider to be acceptable and/or 'good'. I've personally never had anything from them that wasn't like new, but I accept there's always a risk it won't be that way.

They say A Grade is their top refurb and show a B grade in the video explaining their refurb grades and it was in better condition than what I received. It looked like they'd given the screen a wipe with a dirty wet wipe and called it a day. It's not really a refurb, it's just second hand.

Yep, always a gamble for any refurb. I bought this one with the intention of giving it as a present too. Hope you get sorted for Christmas. (y)

I hope whoever bought them gets a better condition one than I got (different chromebook from argos ebay). Mine was scratched and dirty for an A Grade refurb. Intended to be a Christmas present. I've requested a return but can't find another one at a similar price.

^same here, 24", great monitor if you don't need VESA mounts, sound isn't too bad vompared to my son's AOC monitor if you haven't got a seperate sound setup

No VESA, no deal.

Same price at eBuyer but lack of VESA mount would rule it out for me.

Good price for a 7th gen i5, 8GB and full HD. SSD could be bigger but still.

Ah that's rubbish. I got mine today.

Just had emails from Tesco cancelling and refunding me due to stock issues :-( Back on the hunt now!

Thanks....Any recommendation on SSD to buy? Is it easy to upgrade/swap? Sorry I dont know much on this subject

Out of stock again

Depends on what you're doing on it I guess. An SSD is far faster than the HDD - this'll speed up everything on the machine, but then it's not as much storage as the HP one. 128GB will probably be enough for general-everyday use - it might become a problem if you want to store lots of video/audio files on the machine rather than streaming (Spotify/Netflix/Amazon/iPlayer etc). Should be more than enough for your photos, and should run like a dream for most things you throw at it - the laptop has got a pretty good processor, with a decent amount of RAM for the price.

Just ordered. I wouldn’t have a clue what laptop to choose if it weren’t for the good feedback & comments on HUKD. Good find. 🔥 Next stop, FM19...

Sounds like a good deal, ideally slim, light weight and with a good screen, I would prefer 14 inch for portability, ideal as my work laptop too...

Not really There was an 8300H 1050 laptop for £499.99 a couple months back. Unfortunately it was a terrible laptop, but still, hoping for an 8300H + 1050Ti around £5-600 soon

Good point. maybe hang on a bit.

I'd be apprehensive about buying this for graphic design, the screen sounds terrible (57% sRGB coverage).

Says TN

Is this a TN panel or IPS?

I've voted cold because I picked this monitor up on Black Friday for £199 from Scan. It is however a good monitor; I have 2, having bought the first one for £249, which is generally the "normal" price for this monitor. £338 is a stretch. Speakers are rubbish, but personally I think the monitor is very good quality for my uses which include Gaming, Software Development, and watching movies. given the price isnt an AMAZING deal, perhaps a lukewarm vote would have been more appropriate :)

Which LG? I was trying to keep sub-£300 tbh as what I’m returning was only £75 or so

Saw that one, LG is the better option or Samsung with the OLED ones. They all have freesync now which is great 😁

Yeah I’m on 27” 1440 or 32” 4K. There is a wild card... £259 32” 4K IPS screen made by ElectriQ. Could be great or awful!

I was going to get a new sub £100 monitor for my PC but I have decided to spend more and get a 32inch 4k ips one. Far too many options lol, I have of budget of £350. Hopefully boxing day will have good deals or eBay comes out with an international 20% or so code I can use (lol)

I’ve got the ED246Y... it’s awful. Panel is great. Faultless actually (no FreeSync and 60hz but otherwise great) but the stand is wonky L>R and the VESA mount point nuts (the nuts inside which the screws go into) have come off inside the screen. So I can choose wonky, or VESA mount with 2 screws only. It’s going back to Ebuyer. I will say the controls are rubbish. It’s all operated by one little joystick on the back. It doesn’t always do what it should, and user settings done stay set so every single night I have to turn the brightness down and the blue light off and the sharpening off (it’s awful). Just debating what to replace it with!

This is still slow, and by standard reckoning, for £32 more you can have an older 2GB model that is more unusable. You simply have to limit Chrome tags with 2GB Ram, them needing infinite Ram. This is Argos and you get 12 months warranty. If it had a Sata slot it would be fab.

50% faster than the HP I will concede but if that is an issue then you are likely to get much better performance from the Lenovo which has the same processor but double the RAM - which will make it into an almost usable configuration for Win10 if you are careful about storage. Depends on what premium you are prepared to pay for premium or trust in the Argos refurbishment programme. Or you could pay around £75 for a used HP.

Because this is near twice as fast?

Why? When you can buy a spanking new HP Stream 11 at Currys for £139 or a better Lenovo 11" for £149.

Well somebody must have liked them as they are all gone now. Hope it helped. I'm a big fan of HUKD but I think sometimes people forget that all we all want is some good value and bargains. I was watching this item on eBay for £99 for a few weeks debating if I should buy it or not and today it dropped to £79. So i got one. It's got 12 month warranty with a reputable seller so I'm covered. For me, that is a good deal. Agree you can spend a bit more and get better spec refurbs etc. Over and out - I'll expire

Sorry, I keep hitting the "Z" instead of the "X" on this keyboard; usually I notice, but had a customer come in and missed it before posting. Point is, this is little more than a one trick pony that isnt going to cope at all well in the long term, whereas something like the X220 isnt that expensive and has the cpu power and upgrade potential to keep going for the next 10 years. i had a "cheap n cheerful for browsing" Asus machine, and it was slow from day one, and only got slower; this weighs 0.4KG more and is about 40 times as powerful.

This may help:

I doubt it. There is no such product. If you meant an X220 - its a completely different product. The point about these is the size and weight. There isn't very much available with this footprint at any price with beefy specs. You don't need them if its primary purpose is a bit of browsing. I'm a fan of refurb Thinkpads and had an earlier variant with similar characteristics. Great machine but no replacement for my venerable Samsung Chromebook. When that croaks I may replace it with something like this or the HP Stream running Linux Mint XFCE.

Should be ok for an eleven year old in school!? Or think I should just pay more now rather than buying this?

Not sure if this is 1ms, an ebuyer employee responded on amazon saying it was incorrect and it was 5ms.

I just had the same issue with existing monitor which in fact has no HDMI so got HDMI to DVI but then realised I needed audio doh ! Bought this to resolve :

There is NO audio out so if you use this with a console/HDMI, you will need another way to get sound.

Suppose the TN panel is going to hamper my enjoyment if I wanted to use a monitor in portrait. Any suggestions of a similar priced module with less issue there? Guessing would have to be a LPS? Obvs few quid more is ok.

Does anyone know if this is matte or glossy screen?
