Don't think I'd want 4k anyway tbh. I don't video or photo edit and my gpu wouldn't play the games I play at 4k at any decent rate. The main reason not to buy is poor scaling in Windows tho tbh. Massive pain in the butt.

Amazing makes it far superior (horror)

And variable refresh rate range (strong)

Yeah its superior in price.

You know nothing about technology as displayed in every thread you post in.

I got one of these for my Father in Law last week and he's chuffed with it. I know you can wipe Win10 easily enough but there wasn't much guff preinstalled and the casing has a metal finish on the top and keyboard surround. There was an identical price version but without the backlit keyboard. We paid an extra fiver for 2 day delivery and placed the order at 4.30pm. It arrived via DPD at 9.45 am the next day.

True but you could only really describe usb c as very niche at this moment in time. Hdmi will handle 4k whilst ssd is still fine in usb 3. Is usb c worth a 100 premium which is ultimately what we are talking about since 6th gen and 7th gen cpu are largely identical

This is obviously older stock. Doubt you'll want to do anything with a faster hub or 4k TV with only 4GB ram. Windows 10 has become real bloatware and 8GB is what you really need nowadays to run it smoothly. This is good for general browsing and 1080p stuff. Heat for fullhd screen and backlit keyboard. Touchscreen and tent mode a bonus

Most new laptop s have them . Usb c let's you connect to external hubs at much faster speed . Displayport / HDMI 2.0 let you use 4k monitor or connect to TV in 4k

I completely agree with you. Just wanted to point out. Anyway the lower the better:p

Unless you play competitive FPS seriously (CS Go for example) it's not something that matters and unlikely something you will actually be able to physically notice anyway. Also keep in mind they only advertise grey-to-grey times, realistic delays will be nothing like that for both panels so don't ever use it as a reliable reference.

I tried the IPS version, terrible orange glow in the corners like all 27" 1440p high refresh IPS screens. I have the TN version instead, which I got for £400 on Amazon warehouse and have been very happy with it.

Ips version has 4ms delay time though

Does anyone actually believe they need 240fps to be a competitive gamer? You don't, it's marketing rubbish. A good framerate is important but only to a point, 240hz is ridiculous. How do you think UT and Quake players managed back in the day? They managed just fine without these monitors. .

But he just pointed out that it's not hoping to run new AAA games at 240hz. It's for esports games, where this sort of performance is most relevant and achievable. Think games like Dota, Starcraft, CS:GO, Overwatch, LoL etc. No one cares about this level of performance outside of the competitive gaming demographic.

As the guy said it’s for esports titles. Yes the game engine maybe old but try telling half a million people who play the game everyday and the 13 million unique players that. I personally hit 600fps on this game with the resolution I play. But just because you don’t see the point. Doesn’t mean it’s bad for others. If you don’t play games that hit the high frames, yes stick to IPS 60hz etc.

That's what? 6 years old? based on a game released back in 2004. Time to move on maybe? What's it like trying to playing a new game at 240hz, good luck with that.

according to wiki: DP 1.2a should allow for 17.28 Gbit/s for video and 1080p240 should only require 14.00 Gbit/s. It is always worth checking for dodgy manufacturer claims though! I'm not sure about that 144hzmonitors site. That review more reads as someone compared tech sheets rather than tested a monitor in person.

I'm considering getting the 17" model as the screen is superior.

Disregarding the keyboard layout if you're after a good gaming laptop at a decent price (sub £1000) then I highly recommend it. Recently purchased one on a different deal and everything I've thrown at it has been flawless. Witcher 3, 1080P, Ultra settings is as smooth as a baby's bum. Same with Arkham Knight, Shadow of Mordor and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Tried Witcher 3 at 4K and that was a bit of a slideshow (as expected), not tried the others yet. Did try F1 2012 at 4K and that got an FPS of 88 so it's certainly possible to play older games in 4K. A great gaming laptop IMO.

If you can swallow the US layout and warrenty issues, this is a cracking deal. Heat

Yeah, alright then, petal.

Can recommend f.lux as been using it for the last few years. However, for those on Win10 like myself, it now has a built in function which does the same thing. It's called Night Light for anyone not wanting another program to install.

Maybe using f.lux could help if you are using the monitor with a PC/Mac: Quite a lot of settings and options. It is free btw.

Must be selling these off now, cause the 27 inch version was the exact same price last week from eBuyer.

I think the main reason for this is that ULMB/lightboost at the highest setting dramatically reduces the brightness of the image on the screen. This means for the tech to work the overall brightness offered needs to be super high. And it is worth it. Lightboost is fantastic at reducing blur. But I'm not sure you can have lightboost active while using highest refresh rate or with gsync active. As for the quality of the image being degraded at lower brightness, I've got a similar display and have the brightness set at 0 in the on screen menu. However i've also tweaked the colour and a couple of other settings and have a fantastic looking display. I dont have the hardware to calibrate the display myself but borrowed from another. It isn't as accurate as the ips it sits next to, but there isn't a huge difference once both are calibrated. In addition, the ips can't do 240hz, so each has its place. I know many gamers seek out high brightness displays and that high brightness is a requirement when showing 3d content so that may also play a part. In fact I believe lightboost is a part of the Nvidia 3d offering so they go hand in hand. But it would be nice to have a greater range on the brightness slider.

I got this about a week ago on offer. It is great, but one BIG issue anyone buying should be warned about is it is VERY BRIGHT! Since having it I feel like I am staring into lamp. It also is bad if you ever use a webcam or camera in general as it will wash your face out. Even with the light off in my room this thing makes everything lit up. Now you can lower it but I find it loses a lot of quality. Just a warning. I am happy with it for gaming but for general use I use my old screen instead.

Average specs. Awful case.

Pretty poor IMHO, been far better deals posted here in recent months including two machines with GTX1070s for less than this and definitely seen GTX1060 systems cheaper. GPUs may be scarce but you can still do better IMHO...

What a con. I bought a G3-605 for £120 and just spent under 300 for that exact same graphics card. 16GB ram 256 SSD and a 3TB stock hdd. I think you would save loads if you did the same in comparison.

Fair price, but not a hot deal. Could save few more pounds build own machine with same specs. Unless you want transformer tower case ;) Heat for your time, the price is just OK.

Exactly a reasonable price for a pre-built machine. The rough price i would expect to pay for similar spec, pre-built. But it not a good deal or hot.

Get dealGet deal

If you're happy with your current monitor I'd say stick with it. I've a 28" 1080P 144hz myself and I sit about 2 ft from it. I can't see any pixels and the image looks decent to me. The only downer perhaps is the lack of HDR but I'll hang on for now also - there are a number of HDR monitors on the way and hopefully prices will come down ;)

No, not if you're happy with your current monitor. All comes down to personal preference. If you're not noticing the individual pixels then it really won't make too much difference, and you'll be more annoyed about the 3 inch loss to the screen. Lots of people have 1080p 27" monitors and are happy with them, all comes down to personal preference.

I've also heard this. Depends how close you sit to the screen though. If you're close a 24" will be better.

Would if make sense for me to sell my 27 inch 144hz 1080p monitor for a 24 inch 144hz one like this one? I've heard that 27 inches is a bit big for 1080 and I would get much better graphical fidelity at 1080p with a 24 incher.

I guess I've been lucky, then. I've had a few orders this year on OOS items with 4-5 week estimates receive regular updates informing me of estimated delivery date changes (favourable in my cases).

Amazon may well honour price but as for keeping you updated with timescales they just send out an email every now and again to say it's still not in stock and we don't know when it will be. I had ordered a monitor from them several weeks ago and I'm still waiting to the point eBuyer have reduced the price of theirs so I bought that one and cancelled the one off Amazon.
