Has anyone here compared the two personally?

Yes the max is faster, I have both.

Next Gen Fire TV sticks will have USB-Cterface. This will make it easy to add on multiple storage options and to use ethernet cables. Worth the wait you have 1st gen 4k sticks.

And they are they moving away from Android using thier own software.
    So no sideloading of apps.

Not all gloom and doom though
You will still be able to use the old generation sticks.

This can only mean Amazon are selling at these prices tomorrow.

Argos are always 24 hours ahead of Amazon for some reason.

Amazon will most likely drop prices from 9am today

As I say to everybody.....ditch amazon and get something decent with the Google play store.

I've got a shield and a formuler Z11 pro max but a cheaper version like the Google 4k tv thing is far superior and more user friendly than these amazon devices.....Imo52164258-cAsvA.jpg52164258-uhCgp.jpg

Anyone know how long amazon will price match?

Don't wanna trade an old firestick in only to find the prices have gone up by the time I have my 20% voucher

    Cheers
    milton_mansions's avatar
I received the 20% off code the instant I committed to the trade-in i.e. straight away, before I'd even posted the old firestick. I was therefore able to get the then discounted price plus 20% off.

£35.99 currently the best for the 4k?

Any items cheaper than £1 to get it for even less?

I have a HD TV, but would consider getting this if it is any faster than the Firestick I have. Any ideas if it's faster, or is it just the resolution that is different?
    Crossbow's avatar
What gen Fire stick is it? There are ways to make it faster by clearing the app cache, unistalling apps you don't use any more or even a factory reset as a last resort - detailed guide here if needed firesticktricks.com/spe…tml

Also try this app to easily close opened apps in the background amazon.co.uk/Bac…DVZ (edited)

I have Virgin TV, but have given them notice to terminate my contract, as I rarely watch normal TV.

Will a Fire Stick let me watch YouTube ?

    I don't have a 4K TV, so I guess the 4K Max stick wouldn't be necessary

A friend even mentioned a Roku stick as an alternative .. but I've never heard of that, so don't know enough about it.
    Willy_Wonka's avatar
You can download loads of apps including youtube.

All the catch up stuff & netflix & even a brower for the web.

No need for a 4K but you might need another TV one day & my 4k Max is noticeably faster than the other firesticks I have had.

Nice ordered FireTV MAX with Argos £5 marketing promo with £5 Quidco bonus hotukdeals.com/dea…403

Not worth it. Not. I own 2 cubes 4k and there are 2 fire sticks in my family. All locked up, loads of adds and hassle to have a custom launcher working. Not to mention problem with app store and no Google apps.
    Crossbow's avatar
Worth starting afresh by factory-resetting the lot, but there are other things to try before that
    firesticktricks.com/spe…tml

And this every once in a while to easily close any opened apps that are still running in the background amazon.co.uk/Bac…DVZ (edited)

    May as well ask here...😁
My 4k firestick has issues connecting to wife every day.
I turn it on, it shows as being connected but has no internet (sometimes says connected -no internet)

I have to either restart it, or disconnect them reconnect from my WiFi network, then it's ok again
It's a virgin hub3 if you hate matters

    Any ideas?

    Cheers!

What's the policy for Amazon trade in, eg has Old fire stick got to be in working order and has it got to be registered in my name, same as my Amazon account?
  16. Umair_Ahmad's avatar

    No

Expect them to be half price during prime day or Black friday.

They were 44.99 during Black Friday last year, so expect them to be lesser than that this year.
  21. WalterSmith's avatar
Thanks OP, signed up for voucher, added £1 SIM card and collecting from Argos later today,
  22. jedijacobs's avatar
Is £35.99 the best price anywhere for the 4K stick?
  23. jedisteel's avatar
Wicked, I had a 20% off on any Amazon Fire device with Amazon from trading in an old Firestick a while back.

What’s people’s opinion on this vs Apple TV?
    Willy_Wonka's avatar
You can put the Apple TV app on this.

Not sure if that is a consideration to you. Can you put the Amazon Prime TV app on an Apple TV streaming box? (edited)

Does anyone already have the gen2 4k and an echo dot? Wondering if they do work together?

Reason I ask - I tried getting the sound from Firestick to output to echo and also control Firestick with Alex voice commands but turns out I have the first gen and it doesn't quite work.

    Worth the upgrade?
