This is a good device, works well for me paired with a monitor. However the remote with it eats batteries for breakfast, dinner and tea so make sure to get some rechargeables for it.

Try this. From the Home screen/main menu, press on remote:
    - HOME button icon x5 (🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠)
    - FF, Play/Pause, RW, Play/Pause, FF (⏩⏯️⏪⏯️⏩)

This will get you to the "Platform Secret Screen".
From here, select "RF Remote Menu," then "Pairing Menu".
Then make sure both options are DISABLED (i.e., you want it to say "Enable Pairing Mode" and "Enable Auto-Pairing" which would mean they are disabled).

This seems to have worked for me and I've only had to change batteries once in the last year.

Bought this about a year ago for my 2016 Samsung 55" UHD TV. It's a smart TV, but doesn't have AirPlay and apps like iPlayer don't stream in 4K HLG. As the years go on, the built-in software was also getting slower to launch and apps were generally losing update compatibility.

On this, all apps like BBC, Disney, Apple TV+, YouTube, etc. stream in 4K HDR. The sound is a VERY noticeable upgrade; bass is good, dialogue is clear, and you can put the sound on night mode which is a nice touch and reduces the bass. The dialogue boost is also great if you want it additionally ramped up.

I'm very glad with my purchase. I'd say it's 100% worth it for this price for a soundbar alone, let alone having a 4K Roku built in. Highly recommend. (edited)

These work pretty well with a monitor that doesn't have speakers as well because it has HDMI ARC (some monitors have that) and an optical port.

I use an Echo Dot speaker over Bluetooth for my mini PC and that works great.

    These are great!

Be wary of this product folks. The speakers are dodgy and don't last very long before they start to crackle and miss. And Roku support is atrocious.

Google "Roku Streambar Speaker Issues" if you want to see for yourselves. You'll get more than a few hits.
    Infinite.Element's avatar
Googling "[any popular product] issues" will get more than a few hits, though. That is Google doing its job, finding the search results you're looking for.

Can you play content from a USB stick?
    tonyt3rry's avatar
yeah you can it opens the media app. I watch videos from that all the time.
  7. MunkiMagic's avatar
Amazon has it back for £85 if that’s an option for some.
  8. BrianButterfield's avatar
Build freeview into it and I could see it being a good product.

Add a VCR, teasmade and a trowser press and I’m in.

Thanks OP, got one for my MIL who finds it hard to hear voices on TV (edited)

I've got the opposite problem, I hear voices all the time!

I’ve checked all the posts and the Curry’s website but I’m unable to find any mention of the wattage of the soundbar!?

Up to 35W I found somewhere

OOS everywhere I've tried across the country. Anyone else having any luck?

I got one in Chester when I turned up to the store they had another one in stock but not on the website. So it might be worth going in store if it's not too far away

I paid this about a year ago and it's a fantastic product for this price. Good sound and a good streaming experience.

My only issue with it is true of nearly all Rokus. While it's on it always broadcasts a WiFi signal on the same frequency and channel it's connected too, meaning you will have pretty significant WiFi interference. So I had to put it on the 2.4GHz WiFi to not slow down the 5GHz. It does this because the remote connects via that WiFi and even if you disconnect the remote, turn off device connect, turn off the hidden settings for the auto remote pairing and even use an IR remote like I have, it still broadcasts its own WiFi signal. Pretty annoying but not a major issue if you can stick it onto 2.4GHz as there's always interference there anyway.

Great product and at a good price ♨️

Have two of these myself, good speakers with a good streamer inside.

Excellent deal. Great sound but wish Roku would release the wireless rears and sub in the UK.
    alexhoskins's avatar
Or even just unlock it so you could grey import some from the US. I came THIS close to ordering some from Amazon US but then discovered they are software blocked from working with the UK version. Why??

Still fantastic though. I love mine as it is anyway and this is an amazing deal! (edited)

What's the benefit of these over say, a fire stick max?
    WhaleTrain's avatar
    I mean, for one it's a soundbar.
  19. MunkiMagic's avatar
Stellar deal if you can grab one.
  20. Laurence_Saunders's avatar
I've had this for a few years and it's been a bargain (I paid £100). You'd have to pay an awful lot more to get something that noticeable sounds better and it's also a very competent streaming device at the same time (without even using an extra HDMI input).
  21. tonyt3rry's avatar
if anyones on the fence, this is great for the soundbar alone. got 3 in my house loads of supported apps too.

Wow that is an insane price for 85" TV. Looks like it is in stock but gives max quantity error when trying to checkout.

Don't think an 85" TV would really be practical in our fairly modest size living room but for that price I was willing to give it a try

Any chance of it coming back in I wonder? (edited)

Mine has just been cancelled, as you say they have been this price before and even cheaper using the Argos £5 voucher for signup.

    Can you sideload apps

Same here, ordered where stock and 5 minutes later they cancelled. Glad Currys has always been my absolutely last resort to buy anything from and remains the same !

Amazing, been waiting for these to drop back down. Checked earlier this week and they were £120 everywhere!

I think a load of stock has probably arrived in the UK as Amazon now have them for £85 and the 4k Express is for sale too.
  27. Krinkle's avatar
How does this compare to a sonos beam? Is it a realistic alternative considering this is around £400 cheaper?
    HotAddict's avatar
It's OK for a bedroom but nowhere near a sonos beam quality wise. Still a decent upgrade over most TV speakers but I have found mine has got a bit sluggish in apps recently. (edited)

Damn, my monitor's HDMI ports don't have Arc
    cantonbean's avatar
It has optical as well. Don't forget anything you play from the Roku should be ok via HDMI none arc I think.

Is there a way to download Kodi or such on this? Not sure what the difference is with this vs. and Firestick (minus the soundbar)
    Kam-s's avatar
No. I use this exclusively as a soundbar.
  37. wanderer_forest's avatar
Anyone used this for travelling and staying at hotels? Would love to stream on the big screen rather than using my laptop all the time.

Just get the roku stick, who wants to be carrying this around.
