Why is MS giving up on Xbox? They owe me £450

I can't believe what I'm hearing, apparently most if not all games that are on Xbox will be available to PlayStation.. what would be the point in having an Xbox then? I want a refund.

    Nothing is confirmed yet.

Also, all Xbox 'exclusive' games have been on PC for a good few years now so you're a bit late demanding a refund.

That's different seeing though it's still running on Microsoft OS.

Meh, I have all 3 current (almost) hardware consoles (Nintendo Switch, Xbox & Playstation). They each have their advantages. Xbox for example has superior in game chat & match up. It also makes sharing your games library much easier & is more flexible (you can share both your Live account for online play and your games library with a second console simultaneously - something you can't do on the Playstation platform).
The future is cloud gaming - soon we won't need an expensive console to play games on. Instead we will be tied in to a subscription to play games. I don't like where that future is heading. Plenty of software publishers have said you will learn to like it.... (edited)

You can definitely gameshare on PlayStation, it works exactly the same way as on Xbox?

Absolutely nothing has been confirmed by Microsoft at this point and all your hearing is rumours. Microsoft will have a presentation this week to discuss their future plans for Xbox. I don't personally own an Xbox for the reason it has no exclusive games I'm interested in anyway.
I recently listened to the latest episode of gamescoop podcast from IGN and the host makes a really good point.
So Microsoft makes And develops a game, which takes 3 years plus to make. Nobody on Xbox actually buys the game because they all are playing the exclusive games via game pass. So after 6 months/1 year later what's the big deal that Microsoft releases their game on Playstation/Nintendo and can make an extra £10/20/30 million in extra game sales, selling boxed copy's at £60 as well as digital.
Again this is not my opinion but the podcasts host opinion so please don't have a go at me.
I would be somewhat annoyed too as I own my PS5 And switch for the exclusive games.
Let's just wait for the official news this week. (edited)

    One word. "Exclusivity"

Well what other option do they have with their current consoles not selling so well and having spent so much money buying up so many devs ?

Exclusivity is a bad thing for customers. It's something we should only tolerate when it allows more companies to compete. If you're a smaller company then signing an exclusivity deal can allow you to be profitable in an area where it'd otherwise be a straight battle of economies of scale.

But for the biggest platforms/shops in the business like Xbox, Steam and Playstation it's something we want to complain about, not lament.

Nothing has been confirmed at this point. Some games likely will be released on PS but that does not mean they'll be released day one and it does not mean every game. For years now you could have just got a PC and played nearly every PS and Xbox exclusive anyway so the argument of 'my xbox is now pointless' makes zero sense

Not spending 3 grand on a PC

Why would it matter to you if they make it available on PS or not?

Best Buy in America have removed all physical media from their stores, they will no longer sell physical game disks - I wonder how long it will be before others follow?
I do miss the simpler times of plugging in a cartridge, powering on and playing, versus the nonsense of downloading, updating, accepting the T&Cs, ensuring the subscription is up to date before searching for a game to play....
Actually - it looks like they are going to continue selling game disks - it's the other physical media they are removing (DVDs & Bluray movies) (edited)

Aren't a number of UK stores already no longer stocking console games (or seriously reducing their offering)? Seems that way whenever I've looked.

Only a child would worry about exclusive games being available elsewhere and demanding a refund

Gamepass won't be on any other platform except web.
£70 a game isn't worth it to me.

Plus most likely a time delay before other platforms get the games. Not entirely equal footing.

One way to make more money is sell to millions more customers 🤷‍♂️ it's saving Xbox not retiring it. (edited)

    Honestly? I don't give a penny.

Nothing was confirmed, but even if - they will still have my money. Games should unite, not divide.

From one side, business wide - they need to get their investment in Activision/Blizzard back. What would be the best way to get to back sooner than later? Release their games where it is possible.

I only hope that if they decide to do it, they will still release next Xbox. Don't want PlayStation controller

Gone are the days when you had to spend 10 mins waiting for the game to load from the cassette player, only to find out the volume was wrong, or the fridge compressor had kicked in and sent a spike around the ring main

@Lil6ix Storm in a teacup, wasn't it! Guess you at least now know who to ignore

Only 4 titles going to other consoles (reasonable guesses are Sea of Thieves, Grounded, HiFi Rush, Pentiement).

Game Pass not going to other consoles. Healthy membership growth. Day One releases staying. Activation Blizzard games starting transition to Game Pass in March.

New hardware announcement for Christmas... think along the lines of the leaked 2024 'refresh'.

New console in development, the often quoted 'largest technical leap'. (edited)

    Healthy membership growth

    I'm not sure about healthy.

In April '22 there were 21.9M Game Pass and 11.7M Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Combined that's 33.6M.

Todays numbers are saying 34M Game Pass subscribers. That's a 400K growth over nearly 2 years. (edited)
