Door reversal on a fridge freezer

With my last fridge freezer, it was very straightforward to reverse the doors on it. On Saturday, I had delivered the Samsung Series 4 RB34C652ESA Wifi Connected 60/40 Total No Frost Fridge Freezer which I bought online.

The instruction book that comes with it, gives you the instructions to reverse the doors, however, it also states that if you do this yourself (not through one of their approved engineers), your warranty will no longer be valid. Through reading what others have said (on a forum) about reversing the doors on this model, apparently there are no holes drilled on the bottom where you swap the parts over - so, the holes have to be drilled. Due to the electrical wiring and the fact that the warranty will be invalid if you do this yourself, I think that it's best to go along and book for an approved engineer. When I purchased this model, I paid to have my old fridge freezer taken away, but there was no option (not bought directly from Samsung) to pay for the doors to be reversed (others have said that other places, ie, John Lewis, don't offer this service either).

I'm still waiting for the branded company to get back to me about booking an approved engineer (they said that they can't do anything until I have sent them proof of purchase and where from, plus proof of delivery and also a receipt showing VAT - my online invoice did not show a figure for VAT). However, somebody on a forum mentioned that it was very expensive (but did not say how much). Has anybody paid out for door reversal on a fridge freezer with the branded company, and, if so, can you please give me an idea as to how much it could cost me? Would it be cheaper to arrange this myself with a local branded engineer? Thank you.

Can't you just send it back and get one with proper door reversal?

    It doesn't invalidate the warranty.

It says that any damage caused by changing the doors yourself is not covered by the warranty.

I just think it's too risky for myself to do, as there is electrical wiring that needs to be disconnected and swapped around as well. Some people have said that when they have tried to do the job themselves, parts wouldn't fit/swap over alright - the electrical panel popping open and other issues, plus the fact that they were expected to drill holes themselves on the bottom of the appliance as there were none there when they swapped sides. I suppose that I'm just asking to see if anybody else has paid out to have their doors reversed and to get an idea of the cost. I also didn't mention that my appliance came with the spacing block and the foam blocks missing (to be fixed to the back of the appliance before going up against the wall). I mentioned this as well, but was told that until they get the evidence of my purchase, etc, they won't send anything out - then, if they are happy with what I have emailed through to them, I will have to wait for up to 28 days to get those parts. Thank you anyway for your comment.

At John Lewis you can add door reversal to the order for £30.

Seems like a faff and a potentially expensive faff. I’d personally return it and get something a bit more consumer and pocket friendly. I loath companies like this that try and milk you for extra cash. If swapping the door opening is such as faff they should offer left and right open models that you can buy.

I swapped the doors over on my JL fridge freezer after almost 10 years, still had the required parts and it was done in like 10 minutes with no faffing about.
