We’ve been using a Dometic CR50 in our truck for the last 8 years. It’s been regarded once, but it’s had a hard life to be fair. Compressor fridges can get a lot colder than gas or 3-way fridges, you get what you pay for I’m afraid. Don’t forget that you need to vent the heat out somehow - in hot climates ours heated the living space until I installed a small fan to blow air out of a vent whenever it runs.
It's good advice but I'm a dreamer at the moment slightly obsessed with all things campervan related. I haven't even bought a cheap van yet let alone begun what will likely be an arduous 12+ month conversion that inevitability ends in failure.
This is not a bad deal really . But I would rather go for something that I works on gas .
I guess heat for the deal. I'd personally stick to ice packs or buy ice from the super market. (especially if it's going to cost £339 + fuel to cool 2 x 2l bottles!) I'm in the mood to share, I knew I was going to do a lot of walking when on holiday in Egypt so I bought an insulin storage pack (basically a bum bag with custom fitted gel packs). In the hotel I stayed in it had a freezer, so I froze the gel packs overnight along with a 750ml bottle of water. I took them out when I went walking and by the time I needed a drink the water was liquid again. It turns out I needn't have bothered as there I was in the middle of the pyramids and a local handed me an ice cold glass bottle of coke! (I learnt that these are provided by the Egyptian government for tourists)
