Some of the musicians involved later became famous themselves e.g. Thin Lizzy who made an album of Deep Purple covers under the name Funky Junction.

Wow, three songs I recognise across all 6 albums. Is this because I’m too young or have they mostly stuck to cheap/license free songs?

No. It's not just you. I recognise around a dozen in total and I bought my first single in 1973 (Donna by 10 cc).

They sold these in the 1970s marketed as "Top Of The Pops".

Were the original TOTP albums cover versions? I presume these will also be.

Ah yes, I remember those Music for Pleasure albums from the 1960/70's. Being a bit of a purist back then, I wouldn't buy them as they were only covers. (edited)

Was Count Arthur Strong in this band? (edited)

Are they spoof versions (a la Weird Al Yankovic)? 'She Blinded Me With Basil' instead of 'She Blinded Me With Science' for example?

    Description from the website.
Bob of the Pops Vol.1 was recorded between 2012 and 2017 at the Junipers studio, (after the real band had gone home) and in a house in Leicester. Produced and engineered by Boryng Bison. Remixed for release by Robyn Gibson in his living room, after he bought some monitor speakers, in 2017.
