What if I buy this and charge it everyday in work to use at home in the evening

This comes up every time there's a power bank/station posted! Let's look into this, using the biggest capacity Bluetti on this list, the EB70. It holds 70Wh, and costs £468.90 with the voucher code. I'll use the April 2024 onwards electricty price cap of £0.24 per kWh.

    Cost = 0.72 kWh×£0.24/kWh

Cost = £0.1728 to fully charge the power bank.

To find out how many charges would equal the cost of the power bank, divide the cost of the power bank by the cost of one charge:

Number of charges = Cost of power bank / Cost per charge

    Number of charges = £468.90 / £0.1728

    Number of charges ≈ 2713.64

Therefore, approximately 2714 full charges would equal the cost of the power bank, at 100% efficiency.

If you're charging 0-100% at work 5 days a week, that's 542.7 weeks until you make your money back, assuming you never take a holiday. That's 10.4 years.

However, if you're carrying that power bank in your car, assuming the average UK commute of 19.5 miles and petrol at £1.44/litre, that travel costs £17,853.04 over 2713 days; with an extra 10.8kg on board and the 0.35% decrease in mpg, the cost increases by £66.95 over that same time. That means you'll have to go longer before you break even.

There may be errors in my maths but, all in all, I reckon it'd take you 11.7 years at a minimum. Good luck!

These are cool and I want one, but I really have no need for one, even for camping. I have much smaller power banks that'll charge phones for a week. These will only run a camping fridge for a few hours, and are too weak to power anything like a kettle or toaster.

What are people actually using them for? There must be high demand for how often they pop up here!

I use mine for powering my laptop and charging some items that need 3 pin socket. I also find it far more convenient to solar recharge these out in the wild than a normal powerbank would be

can anyone recommend a good (cheapish) solar panel that goes with this power station please ?

There are allpowers 200w foldable panels on ebay the sometimes get down to around £130 ish when better discount codes are live like the recent 20% off and a refurbished option is there

This one is currently £180 after discount
    Allpowers 200w

Sorry to say there was another listing for a tatty box ex display at £90, but I bought it as I am happy with my other one (I've used this allpowers 200w since last summer for my power stations so wanted another)

I have the Jackery 250W and used a 100W foldable panel to charge it in the day and then at night put my 3 way box fridge on low(as usual) and it kept it running all night, just. One of these larger ones might allow you to run the fridge in the day with a couple of 200w panels connected
