How does it work?

Follow the step-by-step process using the buy back estimator tool (https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/customer-service/services/buy-back-pubc644de60). You pick the type of furniture it is, make a judgement of the condition, and it gives you an estimate of the buyback value.

You scan the QR code it gives, then need to take it into a participating store. There will be a physical inspection where the estimate will be reviewed and a final price confirmed

Pricing structure

  • As new – no scratches: 50% of the original price
  • Very good – minor scratches: 40% of original price
  • Well-used – several scratches: 30% of original price

If Ikea accepts your products for resale, you will receive an IKEA refund card for the agreed amount.

Refund cards are redeemable for an unlimited period of time from the date of issue and can be used in store (excluding our Bistro's, Restaurants or Swedish Food Markets) or online, on all products except IKEA Food.

I bought an extending dining table from their used section for £40, rrp £150 and I couldn’t tell if if was new or used. It is immaculate with the advantage of being already built! Highly recommend, and they even took the legs off for me to transport in the car.

Hi, can you see used items online or is instore only?

I'm also looking for a couple of dining tables and chairs so would be really handy. (edited)

Their buy back service is rubbish. Won't take furniture more than 6yrs old, nitpick on wear and tear and you have to give to them assembled

We struggled to return some floating shelves because they kept saying they could only accept fully assembled items. Did they want the wall it was attached to or something?! Had to get a manager involved in the end...

I was tempted by this before, but the fact you have to bring it into the store assembled is a pain point. I have a 4x4 Kallax that is impossible to transport without a van, and no way am I reassembling it in their car park before I bring it in.

To be fair they're quite easy to sell on marketplace.

I wish they would buy back the really rubbish microwave they sold me. Total waste of £315.

Woo, £50 for a desk I almost threw out because I couldn't face dealing with Facebook Marketplace.

FB has its advantages, like someone comes to your house and picks it up, no having to get it back to Ikea fully assembled!

I love the idea of this, but most of my Ikea furniture was delivered due to its size, I’m not sure how I’m meant to bring it to the store.

Well Ive got the huge wardrobe and it’s like 9ft tall and how the heal can I take it to the store.
    haa0518's avatar
The same way it came, in a van, but this time assembled. But not sure if worth the hassle? Maybe sell locally

You will see some intersting sights in the car park as folks re-build their furniture to take advantage of the offer.

    Keep your camera handy.

I sold them a besta tv bench and they knocked £30 off the online quoted price because there was dust in the drawers. Anyway, accepted their offer and by the time we walked through the store it was already in Tramp’sCorner for £50 less than they gave me. Strange

How much did you get for it? Thinking of doing it with the same item

They should do this as standard for family members. The amount ive returned back over last few years. Id have an extra £2-300 worth of ikea spend.

dumbass me dismantled the tall wardrobe and took all the way to Ikea to be told it has to be assembled!
Not worth it really! Just sell on fb marketplace or in gumtree

In theory this is good. In practice, the likelihood of getting 50% + 25% is low.

I was told I would get 50% and they issued my voucher before I could say anything. I then pointed out that my Buyback quote also included 25% on top for being a member.

IKEA Croydon refused to honour the promotion. They said that, once they had issued the voucher, they could not amend it / give me another one.

Basically, I missed out on the bonus because of their incompetence.

Worked for me in Milton Keynes, they were brilliant and I made 3 trips back and forth to car to get a kallax unit, tv bench and shelving unit, all in good condition and got £199 credit no quibbles.

Walked straight back in and got the new furniture we wanted for just a few quid. Brilliant. (edited)
