The Green Mile: those who walk it do not return, because at the end of that walk is the room in which sits Cold Mountain penitentiary's electric chair. In 1932 the newest resident on death row is John Coffey, a giant black man convicted of the brutal murder of two little girls. But nothing is as it seems with John Coffey, and around him unfolds a bizarre and horrifying story.

Evil murderer or holy innocent - whichever he is - Coffey has strange powers which may yet offer salvation to others, even if they can do nothing to save him.

Brilliant price for a Stephen King book - kindle or otherwise.

Probably his best work imo, and something of a masterpiece again imo. The writing is simply superb.

Excellent book, probably my favourite one from Stephen King. Would be an excellent introduction to his writing to anyone who has never read any of his novels. I always recommend this one as a starting point.

Read this recently and it's a really good book. The film was a very close representation

I remember buying this book when it came out in 6 parts. Awesome story.

Having read the book and watched the movies dozens of times, its one of those where I actually preferred the movie

Agree, King's books don't always translate well to cinema. Shawshank being the other gem. I thought The Mist had a much better ending in the movie compared to the book, but most of the other "classic" horror doesn't.
