About this deal

Extremely good deal on a high end amplifier streamer. Amazing power with a great streamer. I’d love this if I could afford it!

Designed around G Class amplification, the new Arcam component sports its maker’s latest casework and fascia design, housing an extensive features list. The SA30 boasts both wireless and custom-install-friendly technologies including such modern must-haves as Dirac Live room correction technology.

Essentially a hybrid amplifier, the SA30 utilises Class A amplification but then switches it up with an additional power supply to drive those larger sections of the waveform.

The result is an intoxicating blend of sonic power and low-level detail that pushes out 120W of power per channel 8 ohms and 220W into 4 ohms.

Connectivity comes by way of five analogue inputs including a switchable MM/MC phono input, and four digital inputs. Wireless support enables seamless operation with AirPlay 2, UPnP streamer set-ups and Chromecast while the HDMI ARC (audio return channel) means the SA30 is also perfect for boosting your telly’s output.

Devotees of the latest hi-resolution digital audio systems will welcome the SA30’s support for MQA (Master Quality Authenticated), as offered by the likes of TIDAL Masters, and its Roon Endpoint status means that it is all set to receive audio from Roon’s digital music player and library system.

Equipped with ESS Technology’s 32-bit supporting high-end ESS Sabre ESS9038 DAC, all digital music is meticulously prepared for life in the analogue world.

Nice bit of kit - way beyond my budget but nice to read up on, cheers.

Nice saving on RRP but has been this price for quite some time so I wouldn't go panic buying for fear of missing out.

I have used my alpha 8 and 10 almost every day for 26 years..

Pity they are no longer British owned and made in Cambridge. Now part of Samsung and made where everything else is made. (edited)

Didn't know that. Shame, as the FMJ was class

Audio amplification is a very simple technology and must surely in 2024 be a solved problem. You can progress to a certain level by using better quality components and design but there comes a point when any further improvements are meaningless because you can't hear them. It's literally not rocket science.

I have never heard this amp in action but I just can't accept it is worth £1299, and have a suspicion its appeal must be aimed solidly at hi fi snobs with their titanium-plated USB cables and such.

Can the AirPlay feature be disabled without having to disable all wireless connectivity, unlike other brand’s units?

Super amplifier in this but the streaming side is poor. The app is about 5 years out of date. Let's down the unit unfortunately

Super amp as you say and the phono pre-amp is really decent too. I've found the streaming to be rock solid, but then i don't use the Arcam app. Using tidal connect from the tidal app is so reliable with the SA30, as is using the amp via voice control from a Google nest device. I love the fact that both tidal connect and Google voice can turn the amp on from standby. My other streaming amp won't do that. (edited)
