Ok so I have been looking at the 49 inch monitors and notice this one has dropped to 1099 on main Samsung website (from 1399). For 1099 it also comes with a free monitor (choice of 3).

It is possible to use code APP5 in the app for 5% off and potentially if you have access to 15% birthday code, that could be used as well. I have got one thanks to so huge credit to him for being a true legend!

So to sum up:
1099
- 5% with code APP5
- 15% with birthday code
= 879.20 + a free monitor (e.g. 28 inch UR550 UHD monitor)

Which is an absolute bargain I think!

Alternatively, if you can't get the birthday code and/or deal with the free monitor, etc, the price via EPP is 879.20 as well, which still is absolutely amazing!

Know this will probably not be for everyone, but Sunday couldn't come fast enough for me, as that's when it is supposed to come apparently

Ive got the smart version of this, I have connected to it a gaming PC (Displayport) and work laptop (HDMI). I have a wired mouse and keyboard currently connected to a cheap usb hub and each time i switch device i unlug the usb hub from one and plug it into the other. Is there a better way to do this? I had hoped to just connect the keyboard and mouse to the monitor but they are usb-c ports so dont fit and i understand i need an upstream cable connected into my device which i would need to switch anyway.

KVM switch, you plug dvi and HDMI from monitor into it, along with a mouse and keyboard, then you normally have a button on the KVM switch which makes your mouse keyboard work for each input, i.e. the dvi or HDMI (edited)

If anyone has a birthday code that they could send me that would be wonderful. Thank you.

Disappointingly I don't ever recall receiving a birthday code dispite being a long term registered Samsung user.

This is not attracting more heat shows it’s still too expensive

To be honest it's a niche monitor. It's far too big for most and requires a pretty hefty gpu to drive it (if you're gaming on it).

Does this monitor come with the remote control or is it just the smart version of the monitor comes with that?

    No remote on this one

If anyone has a ltd co, you can open a business account and use code NEW50 which brings this down to 829 plus you'd be able to offset your vat if registered.

So excl vat this ended up costing me 691

It seems a little odd that when buying a monitor that they're offering a free monitor

Seems good. Its about time there are OLED monitors, so many monitors have poor blacks and viewing angles.

There are piles of OLED monitors, gen 3 ones are arriving now so the older ones are being discounted.

Got mine delivered today and just set up - it seems amazing but I noticed there are small black bars on bottom and right, which I thought was weird (connected to MacBook via dp 1.4 <-> usbc cable), but I googled it and apparently it’s done on purpose that the screen has more pixels and shifts slightly sometimes to prevent burn in - which makes sense if you think about it just in case anyone was wondering.
another thing is that the joystick on the back to turn on and control seems a bit weird, as in you need to press it quite hard to register the click, not sure if that’s intentional but a regular click doesn’t seem to register. I would appreciate some feedback from those who get theirs to see if its a normal thing or I just got a bad one, in which case I would try and get a replacement :)

This monitor is good but I returned it because at this price point I expect this to be smart version. I came to know later that G95sc is the smart version but way more expensive. I wish this was G95sc deal but sadly no.
    BaelinTheFisherman's avatar

fair, I personally don't need smart capabilities for my monitor, but if someone does then G95sc is definitely a better choice

    What does EPP mean? (edited)

it's samsung website where you get discounted prices, accessible via student sites/blue light card/wokr perks etc

Does the Birthday code work on EPP? I thought they didn't accept the 10% and 15% codes on the EPP store now.

Samsung do not offer any burn-in warranty at all
I went for the 34AW as couldnt wait for the new 39" to come out
    eshanmistry73's avatar
I asked their Live Chat and they told me their warranty for this includes burn in/flickering apparently - not sure how accurate that is but ive emailed myself the transcript

I think you need an Samsung account but I don’t know what the rules are to get the code sorry. I made one yesterday with birthday set for today and didn’t get any code, so I suppose one needs to be registered earlier to get one. I was lucky enough to get a code pmed by a Hukd member

I can confirm, the birthday code does not work on EPP. I have a code, say's its been applied, but does not reflect on the price

Can anyone give me an idea what kind of spec laptop I'd need to use this. I work from home and use 2 x 27 monitors and a 24 inch monitor and have been looking to replace with an ultrawide. The problem is that I'm only carrying out tasks using Excel, word etc so don't have a computer with decent graphics ( I use a thinkpad t14 gen 2 for work). This is seriously tempting though as I could get the 49" and the free 4k 28 ips display for £880 using the relevant codes.
    eshanmistry73's avatar
You wont need to worry about that for what your using it for, just plug in your HDMI/DP and itll work completely fine regardless of spec/if your using integrated graphics with all modern laptops - you only need to worry about having a integrated graphics card (and the spec of it) if your planning on trying to play games on this

Can y expand please? Why would this be a lot worse than any other monitor ?
  29. Choi_Quincy's avatar
Anyone here received theirs already? Just wanna see if it’s just me or the joystick at the back to go to OSD takes a really long hold rather than a click
    BaelinTheFisherman's avatar
    Author
Yup, received mine today and it’s the same story here. It’s like instead of a click you need to press it harder, no necessarily long hold. I wonder if this is how it is supposed to work, which would be pretty weird since the usual ‘click’ has a click sound but doesn’t register
  30. Nicolas's avatar
    Received mine So some feedback:
First of all someone said it spends 10 times more electricity than IPs. That’s not the case at all, the label clearly states 75kwh/1000 hr while the typical 34 inch (much smaller) lg IPs use 35 kWh. So it’s in line given the size difference.

Second the colours pop, but the white is dim in comparison to IPs, more of a grey see pics comparison.

    52548288_1.jpg
    Other disadvantages:
It had no usb c, while my much cheaper monitor has usb c hub and connection.
It hasn’t got the software that allows u to switch between computers, so u need to buy a kvm, to connect your mouse and keyboard .
The joystick in the back is a right pain, u presss or 10 times to register.

Other than this, my older laptop is not giving me the option to do 5000x1000 display , max is 2500, any ideas ? (edited)

    Thanks for feedback.

So it seems like the joystick issues are quite common, strange that there are no threads on Reddit or anything regarding this. I wonder if it’s the recent batch that has issues and will definitely contact Samsung to ask about it.

as for the resolution, what cable are you using? I am plugged to a MacBook Pro via dp 1.4 to usbc cable and I get full resolution with 120hz. If you use older laptop via hdmi it might not support full resolution? Not really too sure about that.

It definitely didn’t come with the free monitor for me when I ordered it via the EPP store on 7th. It was on offer via normal website though (edited)
