Please note that non official ones don't work on Sonos products. you have to use a branded one. Not sure why but I just had to get myself one.

Is it oold blurb, or would this not work on my new pixel 8 pro that I hope to see in a couple of days? I know it will have Bluetooth, but then that is 2 batteries that need charging

this doesn't have Bluetooth. it's a dongle that allows ur phone usb c port to handle analogue audio signals after DAC conversion. for example, Samsung phones won't work without the DAC chipped dongles. technically ur pixel will be compatible with this.

I get wat you mean by Bluetooth, that was when iPhones removed the headphone jacks and introduced dongles with Bluetooth chips in them. this is however different.

If you need to play music in your car off your phone with a USB-C outlet, would it not be better to buy a "USB C to 2.5mm Auxiliary Cable", rather than an adapter, which would then need to be connected to a cable anyway?

Or is there any downside to that, which I am not aware of? I know some of these cables prevent the microphone from working when playing music, so you won't be able to speak to anyone if you receive any calls when driving.

Does anyone know if this adapter also has that same issue? (edited)
