I bought this a few months back and it's fine with Bluetooth but I've been gifted some Cambridge Audio SX-50 speakers but am struggling with the connections.

Possibly as they are passive speakers(?)

Is there an idiots guide (and I do mean idiot when it comes to electronics!) somewhere online that would explain what's needed in very very simple terms so I can use this turntable speaker combo? (edited)

Not aware of your speakers prior to your comment

But it may be that you need to pair your Turntable with an amp that recieves bluetooth (or buy a vintage amp with red/white phono in and buy that gadget mentioned in my top comment) or link it direct to the amp with the built in red/white phono out cable.

Then lnk that amp up to your speakers via speaker cable?

Apologies If i have this wrong

Here's a couple of links that first sprung to mind once I read your comment.

The second video really doesn't do it justice

Mine's connected up to my vintage Sony Amp from 1987, paired with some 3 way Pioneers/8 inch Bass drivers which can put out 160 watts.

The room is too small to handle that and the volume rarely goes above 45%

The sound is epic on my system and the amp has abuilt in 7 way graphic which helps a lot.

    Here's my amp BTW

Very happy with mine going through some Kef LSX II speakers.

I honestly would not buy a TT at this value. Especially a Bluetooth one. The old adage of you get what you pay for.

Far more quality and bang for buck spending a bit more and buying a used Rega etc.

I have this and use via Bluetooth to my echo studio and it sounds brilliant for the price combo of the two.

If you truly think this set up sounds amazing, get yourself a Pro-Ject turntable or Rega

    Which will cost more.

A Rega Planar wont sound any better if it's paired with poor speakers so I'm happy with what I have thanks.

These type of turntables don't have auto return so wear the stylus out quicker as well.

But yeah, if I had the room and the money I'd maybe go for a Technics SL1200GR but I'd stick with my Amp/Speaker set up.

Thought about the Audio Technica 5 years ago when I got my Sony as I needed Bluetooth/Auto Return and thought it looked better.

Deciding factor for mw after much more research was the actual weight of either unit, the Audio Technica was significantly lighter in weight (3 lbs) which I.M.H.O. eludes to build quality.

But this might help you make a desision on a sub £200 turntable with these features.

Used Rega, how much for a replacement cartridge?
    Batman_namtaB's avatar
Depends what you want. Google is your friend. Something for every budget.

Bearing in mind a cart should last upwards of 1000 hours if looked after, this is something you could upgrade later on.

Some people might prefer a turntable for occasional use with auto return/pre amp BT (or hard wired as this can be) easy switching between 33/45 12"/7" for the price of a cartridge on a second hand deck.

Doesn't make this a bad deal, people who wish to spend hundreds for something without auto return will only find their stylus wearing out all that bit quicker so this deck has some advantages not thought about over it's dearer peers.

The convenience of auto return cannot be overstated imho!
