Apparently it's better, ive ordered it but not received yet so can't say from expeirence, but from watching some youtube videos it has 2 microphones openings on the side, and the location is moved, as opposed to the Gold which just has the one. There is a video here with speech samples at 4 mins 50 seconds and to me it sounds better (Although still not as good as a boom mic would likely be).

Is the mic on these as awful as the one on the Gold edition?

Good find

Sony PS4 Platinum Wireless On-Ear Wireless Headset £99 @ Tesco

Decent price compared to other retailers!

Yep I bought the gold last week and started playing Horizon Zero Dawn with them and fully agree, the surround sound effect feels so good. I spent a few min turning it off and on just to appreciate the difference!

I got the golds and the surround sound is amazing! i'm currently playing Evil Within and it's defiantly adding to the experience. I prefer to play with my headset on even when there's no one to disturb! lol

Are these active noise reduction ? Ordered a pair to try out. Free returns. Heat.

Decent price, but as others have said just get the Gold headset. 3D 7.1 sound on this is barely supported. Plus there's a widely known fault where the left side would stop working over wireless, look it up.

Very comfy, sound great, battery lasts ages and I prefer the metal band myself. Good price but I wouldn't have paid this much for them, especially with latest golds being so similar

True. But there really isn't any credible study into the detrimental effects of VR on children (or even adults). Therefore, there's absolutley no reason why it couldn't cause problems for a 12 year old either. It's arbitrary. If there was a real risk of harm, I wouldn't be giving it to any child, even a 12 year old. Staring at a phone screen or monitor all day is likely to pose as much of a risk. It's a bit like the whole Nintendo and 3DS warning. Although they say 3D can be enjoyed by anyone of any age, they then go on to say it shouldn't be used by anyone under 6. Which is it? There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that viewing something in 3D can cause damage to eyesight. We see in 3D anyway. And again, if it posed a real risk, it shouldn't be given to any child, even if they are over 6. But I appreciate that when it comes to children, discretion and caution are always advised. The advise should really be, severely restrict the amount of time children spend on any screen.

Just checked, confirmed and processing, though not dispatched, was due to collect Monday onwards from local Tesco so fingers crossed.

I logged into my Tesco Direct account and checked orders, and sure enough it has "cancelled" against it. It may be worth doing that too just to check. You never know it may be alright.

Since somebody brought up smoking, a 20 a day smoker will spend more than this in a year on fags alone. How many people do you know that are 20 a day smokers? If they all put that money in a jar once a day instead of smoking it, they'd have this in under a year. Nevermind the savings from not boozing 2-3 days a week as well. This is a huge amount to spend on a TV, yes, more than I'll probably ever spend on one myself because a TV just isn't worth that much to me, but if somebody wanted to, assuming they can afford 20 cigs a day, they could save for this. People in this day and age waste a tremendous amount of money just consuming extravagantly on a daily basis. And yet that extravagant spending is somehow disparate from single purchase saved-up extravagant spending. The cognitive dissonance is real. (Although I think the guys comment was more about, anybody can be rich if they work hard which, hey, I agree with as well)

Ok so I agree with you to an extent in that some people are gifted and perhaps therefore better equipped to be successful in certain professions - some which pay handsomely (like the idiots kicking a ball around for 90 minutes I just witnessed.) However, if you can become a millionaire by being able to make a condiment like reggae reggae sauce, surely there’s hope for us normal folk?

I didn’t say anything about intelligence mate... someone stupid born into wealth stands a far better chance than someone intelligent born into poverty.

"Support" for ARC in that sense means it that it can be implemented - not that it's standard across all HDMI 2.0 ports. ARC functionality still needs to be implemented by the display manufacturer, and is almost always only available on one specific HDMI port as a result. There are plenty of TVs now with four HDMI 2.0 ports, yet ARC is only available on one of them (LG OLEDs have ARC on HDMI port 2 for example). This can be even more annoying on some other models, like current high end Sony TVs using the X1 Extreme chipset, which only have two HDMI 2.0 ports (plus two 1.4 ones), but also designate one of those two 4K/60-capable ports as the ARC port. That means you're only left with a single HDMI 2.0 port for other devices should you want to use ARC. You can buy a HDMI switching device of course, but that's far from ideal.

Nice! Postponed my delivery until tomorrow to when the wife will be in... glad it’s in as new condition... I’m nervous that mine will have scuffs!

That's what I thought about monitors, but noted hdmi 2.0 has to support arc as per specs. Only prior spec hdmi arc was optional. I was using mini dp or hdmi to connect to the monitor, it's a shame the monitor does not have optical out.

Had mine delivered today. Box was a bit knocked about and the polythene wrapping round it was ripped to shreds, so much for DPD parcel delivery. Anyway opened it up looks almost brand new, no dents, marks or scratches. Set up a piece of cake. Up and running now, well pleased. Well done to Sony Centre, ordered yesterday and delivered free today.

Unlikely. Monitors don't usually have ARC support. Assuming we're talking about a monitor being used with a PC here, you'd have to connect it directly via a Toslink cable, which also assumes that your motherboard has an optical out. There should be one of said cables in the box, so you'll be able to test it at least.

They price matched me on this.. I had emailed them yesterday actually... This is a which best buy tv

I have many times. They claimed a store was a show room and not a store even though you could go inside, order, pay and take away, just because their trading name had the words "showroom" in. JL was £500 for an American fridge freezer. They simply did not want to price match.

I'm confused as I get no issues with my set for operating speed on the android smart system, I actually swear by Sony

I have the 49XE8004 - fantastic picture and Android OS should be a plus. It isn't - can be annoyingly laggy at times. The latest firmware update (LINK) is meant to solve some of the lag but I'm not convinced. Changing some settings (4 processes, kill Samba/SonyShare) does help for a while.

XE IS 2017 model. Andriod sony tv (y) if you know what you doing and what can be used for.

I thought higher end Sony TVs use more powerful chips to drive the set i.e xe93 works just fine with android and very responsive. Not sure how lower end Sony sets perform though with Android.

For me turning it all the way up and then into silent and back up sorts it. Though your issue could be caused by something different.

My missus have sony xz and was fine untill one day something happened that makes loud speaker really quiet. So what exactly I need to do to fix that???

Loud enough for me, though there's a Software glitch that means sometimes (3 times in 12 months for me) it goes ridiculously quiet and you have to fiddle with the volume control and it'll sort out, not noticed a pattern but only happened in YouTube.

Loud speaker is not loud at all, does anyone have these issues???

SONY KD65XF9005BU 65" 4K-HDR Smart Android TV with FreeviewHD & Youview - £1,809 (with code) @ Powerdirect
Found 16th JunFound 16th Jun
Good price for a great 65" TV using code DOM5PD

Had a 65" b7 and returned it. Not for screen burn although I did notice image retention plenty of times, left overs from YouTube etc. without heavy use. And going off how easily it would suffer image retention was a bit of a worry for screen burn. Anything red caused it the most for me. There is another issue with the larger screen OLEDs like screen uniformity, the banding on the set I had was very noticeable on certain scenes. Indeed the picture was amazing but once I noticed the banding it was too annoying. This is well documented too but less people complain about it. I bought an OLED after lots of research and really did think they were the holy grail of TVs, until I owned one. There is a poll on around how many oleds get returned and the numbers are quite high. Just look around ebay, there are loads of 65" Oled sets for sale as refurbs or returns, look for any top end 65" non oled like a zd9, q9f or an xe9305 refurb, you will find hardly anything. This alone speaks volumes. I'm really put off from bothering with OLED again. Now on the look out for something like the xf9005.

There will be a handful of horror stories about people being hit by buses too. In a nutshell, if you're a boy, play safe and buy an inferior LED set. If you're a man, buy an OLED and enjoy it's superior image quality without worrying what MIGHT happen.

There is as many of these 'horror' stories on burn in on the OLED panels as there is with the absolutely horrendous implementation of Android OS, broken promises of dolby vision (still issues), slow ethernet connectivity and back light bleeding. If you search online for issues you will find them as that is what people post rather than non issues

Happily take this over OLED.

Take a look on the Internet at all of the horror stories about burn in. It definitely a design fault given the frequency of it happening. Of course saying that it hasn't happened to you is irrelevant. If someone age 90 told you that they'd smoked 20 a day for 75 years would you go out and start smoking 20 a day? This risk of burn in is very real especially when gaming or having static images on screen continuously. I absolutely refused to take the risk. This TV is absolutely super. Do people with oled TV really sit all day looking at a black screen and cooing? I think not. Put eastenders on this TV and an equivalent oled TV and you won't see a difference. In fact this TV will probably be better gieb it's superior processing power.

Just saw this, so can be bought for cheaper using clubcard vouchers...

Thats a pity. I’ve had a go on arcade mode and it’s great. I thought the career mode would’ve been VRtoo. I suppose it’s worth £15 but that’s all. What are the best fully VR compatible games?

Short answer: A VERY long time. I had an issue last year where I placed an order with clubcard points for part of the payment and Tesco cancelled the order, yet I still had to wait over a month to get my own clubcard points returned! CC points are a con IMHO, they take forever to earn, only send statements very infrequently and if an order is cancelled (even if it's their fault) you have to wait an age to get them back...

Rubbish game

Hi, got this last night using clubcard points. I then cancelled it as I decided to use the points towards a Google Home instead, but the points haven't returned to my account. Does anyone know how long this might take?

You can do time-trials in VR too now (and earn credits in VR). They've added quite a bit of content since release, easily worth £15. Hopefully the next full GT game won't be so VR limited... if it ever arrives...

Farpoint + Sony PlayStation VR Aim Controller £47.99 @ Amazon
Found 16th JunFound 16th Jun
Must buy for all those joining the PSVR community. Same price at Argos but out of stock almost everywhere.

Smyths had this for a more reasonable £39.99 not so long ago and it sold like hot cakes. Considering the game is about £10-15 you''re paying a premium for the controller, not worth it at all, especially as it only works with a limited number of games right now.

Amazing game paid £42.99 last week on very voted hot though

While some require them, they basically just make certain games more enjoyable. Skyrim and London Heist are much better with Move controllers, for example. Superhot is only playable with Move controllers and it's a real highlight. For a £50 controller, Aim doesn't support enough games, if you ask me, but I'd certainly recommend getting the Moves. If you keep an eye out, I'd expect a bundle including Moves and a coupe of extra games to appear for £250is soon.

Headset with two games and camera is currently 199 at Game. You don't need any extra accessories for 80% of the games
