The Rare Replay port is excellent for modern systems. I'd also recommend playing the XBLA 360 release if you are able to - fascinating. Switch version isn't worth anyone's time.

Goldeneye fans should also check out Goldeneye: Source.

The cancelled 360 remaster is a tragedy for gaming and most fans of the original as so many will miss out on playing, mostly due to it being a faff to get going, but once you do it's great.

Improved graphics, sound, performance. Instantly switching between original graphics and remastered. The additional multiplayer levels are the cherry on the cake: 4 player on The Dam and Egyptian are the ones that spring to mind.

From what I remember you need an old version of Xenia Canary, a particular release of the ROM files and ideally the Community Mod fix, I think version 6 was the last one, as that fixes a few minor things.

Again another reason everything was better in the 90s

People falsely attribute how nice it is to be young to a particular time as if that time was better when it was simply that they were happier

The amount of childhood hours put in to this game.🙂‍↔️ back then you would watch some DBZ have dinner, go ride your bike outside and then play some golden eye.

During a long 4-player deathmatch session, I went for a toilet break, but found myself looking around the corner for actual remote mines, in my own house

It doesn’t hold up at all though.
if was good then but not so much fun these days. Unlike a lot of retro games

Would love a version of Perfect Dark that ran well on the Switch.

Get ready to play as Oddjob.
Used to love chucking the laptop/sentry gun in the toilet respawn point.  (edited)

I bought an N64 a few years back for one game which I absolutely love and still do and consider to be completely underrated...terisphere

I did the same with Dreamcast purely for Chu Chu rocket lol.

What a game. Such great childhood memories. Loved playing multiplayer with the cousins. Voted hot

Still have my originals for the N64 I bought all those years ago. Great stuff back then.

Wish Microsoft would put out the HD port of Goldeneye.

    Nintendo didn't allow it

The problem with retro gaming isn't so much getting the games, it's getting a working CRT TV to have the best experience. Not only is it hard to find a working one, they're so expensive now.

I live somewhere quiet and there’s loads for free or very cheap in my area thankfully.

a guy was selling a large retro bundle and gave away his 30ish inch tv away for free to me.

I spent hours trying to do Facility on double agent to get the Invincible cheat - smashed it

It's almost like this shouldn't be a deal.

I mean, what plonker has an N64 and 'doesn't' have GoldenEye?
    yubious's avatar
... This is awkward... N64 owner since middle of 1997 and I never got Goldeneye. I did rent it a few times and the. My cousin's got it so didn't seem worth owning it too. Then Perfect Dark came out I never looked back

Classic not the same feel on the switch port / n64
    MIDURIX's avatar
I quite liked it on the switch, had to swap round a few buttons and sticks to make it like the N64 though. I invert the Y stick in all games.

Back then it felt almost open world, but playing it again and it's so linear in comparison to modern games.
