sorted byThe failed LED is normally easy to identify because, as it fails, the full 144 v appears across it and arcs - leaving a black spot visible at the centre of the LED.
The board is mounted in close contact with the thin metal case - and that conducts the heat away. It's over temperature that kills LEDs - so if you mount this in a fairly cold room, it will last longer than a very hot kitchen.
If you are into DIY, you can "fix" a failed LED with some silver loaded paint, of the kind used to repair car window heating elements. Break away the remains of the LED and apply a drop of paint in its place. That reduces the string number by one - as the constant current through them remains the same, you just get 1/48th less light output. Do this too often and the central driver will fail.
IME, the most common failure point is that driver module. They can be replaced by another with the same output voltage range and constant current value.
Note that all the tracks on the board and the LEDs should be assumed to be LIVE to the mains when switched on. Even if not lighting. Make sure that the metal case is grounded - as the aluminium PCB can become live very easily.
Is this not a better deal as it's a higher wattage and brighter at £12.91 with a 20% voucher off
Wonder if I should cancel my order and get this one?
Update - decided to stick with my order as the original one is lighter and retails at a higher price to start with, so I think it is a better quality light. (edited)
