Tried to use my points last week, prior to the old loyalty scheme ending.

At the till was told that the area manager had already turned off their system and I couldn't redeem my points (a week before the scheme ending), so I had to pay.

Contacted Subway to complain, who have ignored the email. (edited)

Personally it's why I stopped trying a year ago with Subway, they'd always happily scan the card to get the points on your account but they'd always find some mysterious new reason to not let you actually redeem the points. Think I had about 1200 points on the old system but no branch would ever let me use them.

(Doesn't beat the time though that I tried ordering from them on UberEats and they told me they ran out of bread but tried scamming me into cancelling so they wouldn't bite the charge or cancellation, claimed they "couldn't cancel orders on their side".) (edited)

Used 3 burner emails, all cookies. Wanted the sub!

    Sent from my iPhon

So they just dumped the previous reward scheme and gave nothing for it transferring into the new one?
    lucyferror's avatar
They honestly don't care about customers anymore. Their new crappy menu with non adjustable salads for each sub was a best evidence.
  5. batterylife's avatar
MSE looked at the new points system and it is awful you have to spend a fortune just to earn £1 worth of credit. It's so insulting that Subway is dead to me now. (edited)

    My thoughts as well.

Subway is so overpriced these days. Only worth it when they have offers
  8. itsgun4u's avatar
New rewards are less generous than was in the now retired app. Like for 200 points you could get a snack like nachos costing £3+ but now 150 points will convert into £1 cash which is less than half of the previous rewards scheme.
    lucyferror's avatar
It's like around 300 points just to get a drink. Ridiculous. Not enough that they messed up all Subs and added "NEW" crappy menu where you can't even add your own salads anymore and you can only have what it says on list. Ealier I was getting Meatball marinara and could add any veg I wanted and I had meatballs and other meat included. Now you get just meatballs with preselected salad included which is not adjustable.
All companies are giving now LESS value for money. Sainsbury's Nectar points were 2 per 1 pound spend. Same with other brands making you work really hard to get anything back :/

I am done with this shower. They bombarded me with emails about changing the reward scheme, without reading them I thought it was a fair assumption that your point would carry over but no you've lost everything you've been saving up since day one.
    sm9690's avatar
If you had taken 10 seconds to read the emails, they all said you need to use your points or they will expire. (edited)

White chocolate macadamia. The BIZ 🫠🤤
    andrewworrall1's avatar
I always call it "white chocolate and nut cookie" and the staff always say to me it has nuts in it, asking if that's okay. I suppose they are just doing their job and it's good they ask, I just find it a bit funny when I've just mentioned it has nuts in it by calling it "white chocolate and nut cookie"

    Footlong for me, too
52755621-wgvFf.jpgNot sure about this 400 points for a £1 though! Something definitely off there.

A store i went to were being very cheeky, im sure they fiddled with their scanner so on the last few days anyone wanting to use their rewards were unable. I ended up paying for a footlong meal even after asking if their machine was working prior to making the sub. Not very happy and i wont be going out my way to accrue points now. Just happened to pass another store within 15 minutes of the scheme ending and got my sub for dinner.
    sAmeri's avatar
They lied. They all say the same thing.

The way to do it is you get your sub made, and on checkout say you don't have anything for payment and you will be redeeming your points. They can't do anything and are forced to honour what they should be honouring
  13. andrewworrall1's avatar
Thanks OP heat added. Does anyone know if you can use it in conjunction with other offers (eg receipt survey for free drink with a 6 inch sub purchase)? (edited)

No. Says in the t&cs you can't.

From the rewards tab on the new rewards app: 10 points for every £1 spent and 400 points = £1
    ukbren_'s avatar
Same for me. Must be an error as it's supposed to be 150 points = £1.
400 points for £1 would mean you'd need to spend around £200 to get a free 6" - on the old app it would be £50 and on the new app (std level) it should be around £75

    edit:
seems it's corrected itself to 150 points = £1 now (edited)

Is this only available for Iphone users? I'm trying to download the app from the link & it says "this app is available only on the App store for Iphone" - i have an android phone, tried the app store & nothing
  17. DCollector's avatar
They are soooooo over priced now. So yeah. A "free" cookie. Nice.
  18. Eamer's avatar
    Free cookie. Great.

New rewards levels look absolutely terrible, though.

Got to spend £15 to earn £1, so if a sub is approximately £6.99, you need to spend £105 to earn a free sub.
  19. andrewworrall1's avatar
Just redeemed my free 6 inch sub. Couldn't redeem in-store at till - I was told they haven't received the new scanners yet (I asked if I could redeem in-store before placing my order) - I had to place a click and collect order to get my free sandwich

Also, I had to have the sub cold as the app wasn't showing any option for having it toasted. Was going to ask staff to toast it after I placed the order but there was a big queue I didn't want to push in or put more pressure on the already busy staff

    52757043_1.jpg
Could've been a better experience, but £2.38 for my lunch - not bad (edited)
    KevinMcComps's avatar
Our one did have the new scanners so it was fine.

But no queue as there is an excellent local.sandwich shop across the road that completely thrash Subway because they actually use quality ingredients.
  20. FourKings's avatar
You have to watch the buggers on this new app, because they are trying to charge for PAPER bags on a pick-up and probably a delivery order! Also, this new app is very clunky!!!
  21. Rookie10's avatar
You have to spend £15 to get £1 reward... I wonder if i will be able to order half a cup of coffee?
    twistedpixel's avatar
Yep that’s me done with Subway. Quality declined in recent years anyway.
  22. sAmeri's avatar
Heat. But guys just note most Subway's even with the offer enabled, are cheapskates and will lie about their machine not working.

The way to do this is, get your order ready, then when they ask for form of payment method, show your reward app. Don't tell them before hand you want to use this
    Joyce_'s avatar
Subways are mostly franchises and they're all scammers. Learned from experience. They hate to honour any freebie so I no longer shop there
  23. TellyLover's avatar
Just like every other "loyalty" scheme these days, getting nerfed to the ground
  24. Moss.b's avatar
That's a bad offer, even less than the previous sign up. Never take the first offer.
  25. Stinkydave's avatar
Noooooooo. All my points have gone.
    boisterous_taco's avatar
Not condoning Subway getting rid of them all as they did mine too, but did you not receive a tonne of incessant emails advising it was happening?
  26. jshodgson's avatar
Last time I visited subway they wouldn’t honour the deal I had in my app even though the store was mentioned and it was all in date. The store was Exmouth. The manager said he had no button on his till! I complained to Subway and they just said thanks for the feedback!!!!! Check before you order just in case.
  27. greedoe's avatar
add to the insulting new reward scheme the fact that their subs are horrendously expensive. Who in their right mind is spending £9.50 on one of their footlongs? I had three free in the last couple of weeks to use my points and the whole time just thinking, this isn't even worth half the price they're charging.
    MK5HashTag66's avatar
I remember way back when the most expensive 6" was £3 and a foot long was £1.50 more.
  28. Defaults's avatar
6 inch sub sounds like my bio
  29. radiocaf's avatar
Tried to redeem the last 1,500 of my points yesterday before the 5pm deadline.

Guy behind the counter told me it might not work and proceeded to then confirm on the till that it wouldn't work, even though it was 4:15pm. I wish I had of just left without paying but at the time I took his word for it. Seems like everyone else has had similar occurences. Definitely won't be stepping foot in there again and I used to be semi-regular.
    geoffa51's avatar
Went in at a similar time yesterday and got a sub and coffee with the last of my points and went through fine
  30. ollieroxx's avatar
Cold from me if you take into the bigger picture the amount of points this new scheme has lost people, and the new rewards scheme being crap too
  31. curridd's avatar
A friggin' cookie? Is that it? They can stick that, you know where! 😄
    ROADRUNNER.3301's avatar
6 inch more apt for that
  32. FourKings's avatar
Tight fisted gits, it was obvious that it was gonna be a cookie, rather than a 6" sub. And I was way off to be anywhere near having enough points to redeem my points on the old app, so lost those anyway. Why couldn't they have transferred those points over?
    ChampEon's avatar
I had 1066 points but none of the Subway branches I went to had a working scanner (how convenient eh). So that's a free footlong down the drain
  33. RandomUser42's avatar
Just a free cookie for me, probably won't use it before it expires. My last few purchases never gave me points on the old system and they've put the price of my preferred sandwiches to near enough £10 so that it really isn't worth it.
  34. botchtista's avatar
New loyalty system is an insult.
    curridd's avatar
I think Subway will go under if this rewards system remains the same. Us the customers aren't daft and know when we're getting a bad deal.
  35. devdas121's avatar
This new reward system is not generous at all.  Subway customers will go elsewhere and eventually, the company will lose out.  Watch out for the free point addition in the coming days to entice the customers.
    curridd's avatar
Well.. It better be enough for a six inch or foot long then 😜
