For example, without these extra months 12 3month codes = 3 years gold/2 years GPU. But if I get a few months added through the recurring subscription method, would the last few 3month codes no longer work because I’ll have hit the limit already?
Basically I’m wondering whether I should get 8 codes for now and top up after seeing how many (if any) months I get offered for turning on auto renewal? Or just go all in on 12 codes before the price changes?
Edit: back from pub and all sorted out now, I waited three hours to raise a ticket and got sent an apology an hour after my ticket was raised on a Sunday! and also a code. Never had a problem with them, my GP now expires 12.8.26. Result! (edited)

But if you upgrade to GPU you lose out on a full year worth of gold if you convert all for 1 single new game they are going put on it I want

You dont lose gold benefits by upgrading to GPU and you dont have to convert the whole lot, can do 3 months let it expire and do another 3 months i u really want.

I didn't go to mad, only up to March 2025 and use a cd key £7.99 code to do the upgrade instead of the £12.99. Nice one. (edited)

Also you may want to try the reoccuring bill trick that has potential to give 1 month bonus everytime.
It works for some but not all, make sure you don't have reoccuring bill on, enter 1 code and u may be prompted to turn it on for 1 extra month, do that then turn it off again in account then add 2nd code and hopefully u get the prompt again, rinse and repeat.
Microsoft have not publicly said that Gold codes wont work after. Pricing structure is the same. New conversions where announced around the same time as Core was announced.

If you don't have GPU, these will convert to GPU, and if you do have GPU these will add 50 days to the subscription.
