From what I know, you get the card and buy the watch, and can then return it and you get an unrestricted gift card on the return to use on anything.

A friend of mine did this - not sure if they were being particular they could give you a gift car for the trade in only and then return the remainder to the original purchase method

I did this offer at Currys last week. I was trading in a pristine Apple Watch Series 5 which had everything - box, purchase receipt, charger etc - it was as new. Drove for best part of an hour to the store that showed stock of the watch I wanted. The assistant typed the serial number into his computer multiple times and said their system doesn't recognise it and therefore wont accept the watch - told me to go elsewhere to trade it in like Apple or John Lewis. I argued that Currys offer was better, it's a genuine apple watch with original purchase receipt and even showed him as I put the serial number into the Apple website to show it was recognised as my device. He still wouldn't have it - computer says no.

I then went and tried my local store which is about 5 minutes from my house. Instantly accepted trouble free. And they had the watch in stock which wasn't showing in stock online.

Altogether a good deal but very haphazard stock and trade-in experience. (edited)

Works the same with John Lewis as they offer 6 months fitness for free which has £60 value I believe. Currys do not advertise any fitness free months.

Apple Fitness+ is an Apple offer, not exclusive to any retailer.

They offered me £1 for my Coros Pace 2, would get around £90 for it on Ebay

That'll be because the demand for a used Coros Pace will be nothing compared to a used Apple Watch. They are basically telling you that to them, it is scrap.

They'd be giving you £51 if you purchased an eligible Apple Watch though. Seems fair.
