How goof are these at removing lime scale?

We live In North Yorkshire with very hard water. We use a glass kettle as it helps us see when to descale our kettle.

Using tap water the kettle will start to be noticeably scaled in days. Using this it will be okay for a few months.

Once it gets scale In it we pop a sliced lemon in and fill with water. Boil it once and just leave it for a few hours. Then clean it out, good as new and no chemicals needed.

I picked one of these up recently as I’ve always drank tap water but it’s started to taste funny. This has removed the weird taste and is much more enjoyable to drink. Well worth it in my eyes

Does it actually remove chlorine taste from water? That's my main reason I can't stand tap water
