The Roam has all of the best parts of a mountain and road bike. So, it's perfect for a commute to work and a leisurely cycle when work is finished. It's built around a high tensile steel frame making it both strong and responsive. It has alloy rims and V type brakes to help you stop quickly and city-style 700Ctyres. Plus, 6 speed power gears so you can always choose the right power. Oh and a comfort saddle - for comfort, obviously.

The gears can be easily changed with the twistgrip gear lever without having to take your hands off the handlebars. Which means you can always get the help you need whether you're going up or downhill.

The narrow sectiontyreswith smoother tread pattern make riding so much easier. You'll want to find more reasons to get out and about on your bike. For more information, please see the instruction manual and assembly guidelines below.

I had a very similar one of these (same brand) and the wheels began to warp when I put a pannier and bags on it. If you just cycle without bags then it might be ok, but even then, the gears weren't great, the frame was very heavy, and the brakes very difficult to tune. I would pay more to get something better or get something second hand. Just my opinion from having similar bike

This bike has double wall rims and 36 spokes. Yes you might have to use a spoke key to correct the spoke tension and trueness of the wheel but once done these should be very strong wheels. However they may not be supplied that way. One thing is once you've done this they won't be the most forgiving wheels but again the thick tyres will compensate for that and the fact they are 28"/700c will mean they will roll over bumps better. Many wheels come with 24,28 or 32 spokes this makes them easier to knock out of true and more difficult to true afterwards as for example with 24 spokes they are spaced out more so trueing is much more of a fine art, 36 spokes means easier to make adjustments on a specific area of the rim. The issue again here is Argos won't do this for you, you need to be able to know or learn basic wheel truing skills.

    Just don't......

At the pricepoint, the 2nd hand market will get you a bike that's actually nice to ride.

This is cheese metal skip fodder.

Agreed, it will be awful to ride. Hard to set up to any degree of comfort. Believe me I learned the hard way and bought similar 5 years ago and it lasted 3 months.

Great price, I bought the challenge women's mountain bike at £144 a couple months ago or so.

Absolutely loving flying around Oldham on it. If you're just looking for a cheap bike, nothing fancy, there's nothing wrong with this brand. Worth it for the warranty at least, which you likely won't get with a 2nd hand bike.

No idea why bike snobs jump onto these deals barking at people not to buy. If you don't want it, don't buy it and let people make their own choice

This is no frills cycling at its best. As with any bike, it will need careful assembly and regular maintenance but hard to beat at the price.
