About this deal

Garmin Varia RTL515 is a rear bike light with radar sensor that links with Explore devices to show proximity of vehicles behind. Been looking at this since a recent bike accident but thought it a bit expensive at £169.99. Found it at Decathlon for £129.99 which is the cheapest I have seen this by a mile and there is also free click and collect from store.

Micro USB charging is annoying. Must be time for a new version with USB-C?

This site is interesting, can do stuff to analyse the data and count how many cars passed by. mybiketraffic.com/

Pretty certain the camera version is USB-C, and the latest edges are USB-C so any new version no doubt would be.
That car count thing is great, I found that via GPlama (YouTube). (edited)

I got this "Tribute" one off AliExpress, has an all-seeing rear AI camera too.

A bit expensive for 130. I know we don't have time machines but this has been 110 several times past 6 months.

Btw compatible as well with Fenix devices not only Explore. The layout is different obvs as the screen size is smaller but it shows number of vehicles approaching, beeps and vibrates on the watch

Does it remind you when approaching a red traffic light you're supposed to stop as well?

If you're happy with the German version (no flashing light pattern) SportPursuit had it at £110 until recently (now OOS) (edited)

I was looking at that too, but that’s the non-flashing EU version, so ended up buying from Decathlon using my corporate voucher

Same price as I purchased recently from Amazon & beats Bluelight pricing via Garmin, which currently is £135
