I have a pair of Five Ten Trailcross Pro which appear to have the same tread pattern as these. I only used them once and found that they aren't waterproof in the slightest, and more importantly, that they actually caused my knees to ache because they stuck so well to my flat pedals.

With clipless pedals and footwear you have some "float" which allows for your feet to settle in a natural position. The same can be said of using flats with less sticky footwear - I use cheap waterproof flat soled hiking boots which grip when I need them to, but also allow my feet to settle in to their natural position, thereby reducing any unnecessary strain on my knees.

You could of course reduce the height of the pins in your flats, but I'd still rather have something waterproof on my feet given the weather we've had for the past few months. (edited)

It says drain holes so hence not waterproof that’s why I didn’t buy them. My Five Ten DLX Slueth are waterproof

I have a pair or so of 5 10's I really like how they look like decent footwear when you're not on the push bike. Soles are soft so I don't think they'd be up to much foot on tarmac action. Not sure I like the socky bit. I get crapped up in seconds, socks are no biggie to sort out, also my bike shoes don't have the most pleasant of aromas, breathable and all that they may be, But a sloshy, muddy, sweaty, crapped up shoe doesn't need a socky bit imho
