A deadly virus is spreading across Los Angeles, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies. The city is in quarantine and the military have retreated. Bitten, infected, but more than just immune, you learn to harness the zombie inside.

Only you, and the handful of other swaggering assholes who happen to be resistant to the pathogen, holds the future of LA (and humanity), in the balance. As you uncover the truth behind the outbreak you’ll discover who – or what – you are. Survive, evolve, save the world – just another day in LA!

The much-loved zombie saga is back with a unique formula of horror, dark humor and over the top zombie-slaying, spanning an epic pulp adventure.

Dead Island 2 is a thrilling First-Person Action RPG that takes players across a brand-new playground. Stylish, vibrant and flooded with zombie infection, explore iconic, gore-drenched Los Angeles. Meet larger-than-life characters. Slay countless foes in exquisitely bloody detail. And evolve to become the ultimate Zombie Slayer.

Recently finished it, my personal opinion:

    Pros:
    - Runs great. Near 4K and 60fps.
    - Mostly fun, quite entertaining, especially flying dropkicking zombies off high places or into dangers.
    - Nice graphics on zombies (jaws hanging off, gory etc).
    - Nice soundtrack.

    Neither pro or con:
    - Average story.
    - Average maps.

    Cons:
    - Dialogue is cringey. Most of the ‘humour’ wasn’t funny to me.
    - Gameplay does feel repetitive eventually, didn’t make me want to finish half the side quests.
    - Fall damage is a joke and needs nerfing. Falling a small-medium height should not be causing more damage than a huge zombie striking you…

Overall: 7/10 - Good game but not great, and certainly not must-play, worth waiting for a sale price. Easily worth it at £30 or less. (edited)

So was you ripped off with the price you payed for it? It seems more pros than cons.

I don't get why people are complaining about it not being open world? I mean the first game's weren't and they were brilliant so it's hopefully more of the same?

Looks like a great game just waiting for it to go a lot cheaper which I imagine it will but this is still a great price for a newly released PS5 game (edited)

All the question marks ? and things littered on the map left, right and centre... honestly, I have open world fatigue anyway now. I'm avoiding any games like that at the moment

I am fairly confident the price for Dead Island 2 will drop like a rock in the coming months, I really liked the first games, but I would not pay the current asking price.

I was in the same mindset, but bought anyway. Glad I did. The game does not suffer from not being open world at all. The zones are pretty large, and leave plenty to explore and discover. I'm 16 hours in, and I've only explored 3 zones! Loving it so far

I see it around £20 in 3 months, people say it's been in development for so long it feels like a last gen game

I pre-ordered this game back in April 2014. From my amazon order:

    Your estimated delivery date is:
    Friday, April 24, 2015

Still looks fun, but I'll wait for a cheap PC deal later this year or next.

No open world? THANK GOD. It can't be just me who is soo fatigued with open world games with the same unimaginative fetch quests. ONLY rockstar/bethesda/nintendo and a few others open world games are any good, rest suck. (edited)

Absolutely. They just get so stale. Rinse and repeat.

Having said that I am enjoying Gotham Knights that I got for a tenner on here. Not nearly as bad as people say. Pretty fun actually. (edited)
