I bought this the last time it was on here. There are different modes you can use, quiet has the slowest fan speed when playing games though it is still audible (does not bother me or the Mrs much, also I wear a headset for some games). Screen is nice but has an odd aspect ratio/size so a lot of games the first time you run them do not go fullscreen until you can change settings.
In the nvidia app I set the max refresh to 120, I saw it recommended as a method to lower fan noise when gaming. I also added a 2TB ssd to install games on. Note that a laptop 4070 is equivalent to a desktop 4060/4060ti in performance. You will be able to play some games on max settings, but the latest and greatest will not be playable on max settings.

The power brick is absolutely massive, its the biggest one I have seen. 20cm x 9.5cm x 4.5cm and the power lead connecting to the laptop is girthy as well.

I brought a lap tray (ingenious desk lap tray, on sale for £10 from argos a year or two ago, a lot more expensive now) so I dont cook my thighs when sitting on the sofa.

How does this compare to that Levono Yoga Slim 7 Pro X14 that is getting heat atm?

Other users' patronizing aside, the two are for different purposes. This laptop is a heavy, fairly powerful rig for gaming. It's designed to be plugged in, or connected to a monitor via HDMI if you want higher clarity. The Yoga Slim is a workhorse for daily 3D work, office work and any other home use. It's designed to be portable but decent enough on battery for graphic work.

I bought it few weeks ago, upgraded ram and I don't know why, but once or twice a day, blue screen with qr code shows up and laptop resets itself.

That's called a BSOD, there can be many causes. I seem to remember certain RAM and motherboard combinations can be unfriendly to BSODs. Time to Google/Reddit my friend

I'm not finding anywhere mentioning wattage of the GPU (and a Reddit post suggesting it was stuck at 40w)

    myfixguide.com/del…ew/

"...CPU exhibited a peak power consumption of 115W while maintaining a stable operational experience. In contrast, the GPU peaked at 140W during the testing."

Presumably the full 140w, although I can't find an official source either.

And people buy MacBook Air 8gb/256gb for the same money 🤑
    zeb.mattey's avatar
Lol gotta be kidding me. A macbook air is a wayyyy better work tool than this beast with a few hours battery life and mediocre keyboard/screen/trackpad

If the cooling is anything like the last time I bought a top spec gaming laptop (admittedly 2013) it will sound like a plane taking off…

A lot has changed since 2013 mate...

That's a great price considering lenovo legion is £1200 with a ryzen 7 and 4060 and only 16gb ram

The specs are maxed out. Can't go higher..this laptop is wowwwww and such a good deal. (Before you gamers come and comment, I mean for the average person. Which do exist on here:) (edited)

    Hello

    Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop - 16in WQXGA 165Hz, NVIDIA RTX 4070, Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD | very.co.uk

Please can someone tell me if they think this deal is better value with 20% off than the dell, I have watched a video and it seems pretty easy to upgrade the ram to 32GB which would bring the cost to approximately £1400. I have been told the lenovo legion is a better quality laptop. I can see the dell has a newer processor but with my very limited knowledge I am not sure it will make a difference. I am buying a laptop for my son for gaming and general stuff. Thank you

I am looking for a laptop that would fit the recommended specs not minimum. Just wondered if this laptop would do the trick. Or would appreciate any other recommendations or advice. Thank you. (edited)

Thinking about pulling the trigger on this as I'm getting it for £1281 after additional 5% perks at work discount. Has this spec been available for lower in the past? Conscious there might be Easter deals coming soon...
