Good price bought this for around £120 about a year ago. Keep it in my garage and haven't had an issue with it since then touchwood.

“Annual energy consumption: 209 kWhTotal“ is that typical for a chest freezer or are other models more efficient? Thanks in advance.

Well this freezer has a energy efficiency rating of F on a scale of A to G, A being the most efficient. That should tell you all you need to know.

I got this for same £99 about 3 years ago. So far no issues.. I'd say great buy!

You’d be the cool kid on the block if you did that

Good freezer at this price but wouldn’t buy a chest again they are a slight pain to get stuff out the bottom and you end up with ancient food you’ve forgotten you had because you can’t find it.

I even tried to put boxes in it so that similar stuff would be kept together but I still can't dig down deep enough in my 200l. There's gotta be dinosaurs sausages or something down there...

The logik 142 litre @ £119 seems better capacity for your money and 192kwh to run

According to Currys, the LOGIK L142CFW20 has an average energy of 228kWhs. So uses more energy than the Essentials although it does have 50% more storage volume.

I know it says it can be used in an outbuilding but it's rating is 10 degrees minimum ambient temperature. So since when has the UK not had temperatures below 10 celcius? Caveat emptor!

EDIT: Apparently the "winter guard" means the freezer components can work safely down to -15 Celsius so it is ok for outbuildings despite the somewhat confusing SN-T rating which mean it works in ambient temperatures of +10 to +43 Celcius. If this had been a fridge/freezer with that rating though it would not have been suitable for outbuildings (unless the fridge and freezer had their own thermostats which is not often the case) (edited)

10 degrees is the minimum optimal temperature, but as stated by the OP it will work down to minus 15.
The climate class rating for this freezer is the broadest it can be, from SN (subnormal) all the way up to T (tropical), so you can't get better range of temperatures for that optimal rating.

I don't understand how a chest freezer can be F-rated. I thought these were all super efficient?
    oidarwazeh's avatar
About 10 years ago probably would've been rated A+. Changed the ratings to keep up to date with newer tech, my 8 year old dryer is B rated. Can imagine it isn't anymore...

Wouldn't it be more efficient in cold temps?
    lynk's avatar
Yeah, in winter just switch it off and open the lid

Chest freezers are such a pain when they are reasonably full. Can’t find anything!

I 100% agree, you probably waste a ton of energy looking for your stuff.
