Can only be connected by cable and not WiFi? Why go backwards in tech, homebase 2 is WiFi enabled

Didnt they promote the homebase 2 as connected by wifi so you can hide it from burglars and such like?😄this one they can follow the wire...

Will all my gen 1 cameras work with this?
    Wolfylee's avatar
It says that all eufy cameras except some wired doorbells.

Does this add the new features to the older cameras if they're connected to this homebase ?
    Gandyo123's avatar
    Yes I think so

Nope. Not shipped yet. Message them and they will knock off a further 10%

Am I the only one that has problems connecting to the cameras sometimes? I have the homebase 2, wireless doorbell and wireless camera. When on wifi, connects instantly. When on mobile data, takes ages and quite often fails to load. You may say it’s my network connection, but I’ve been on sim only plans that use three, o2, vodafone and EE. So that rules out network. And this has happened on both iPhone 11 and iPhone 12. And I never had this problem for say the first year of having it.

I have this same problem, would this homebase solves this situation?
And how much would one roughly expect to sell the homebase 2 for? (edited)

This should be free for existing users!

what’s funny? Assume you don’t don’t about the scandal and that the Homebase 2 doesn’t have the tech to do what it was sold to?

Personally if I was a Eufy user I would expect a free ‘upgrade’ or I’d send it all back! (edited)

Apart from extendable storage (not sure if needed as 16gb has been more than sufficient for me) I cannot see the appeal of spending another £105 for the same thing? And the motion detection already exists on the door bell and floodlight (although the latter does not work properly), cold for me.

Whoever owns this would you recommend it? I have the original Eufycam devices.

It's wired for now, there was supposed to be an updated firmware coming out Dec 2022 (seems to be delayed) to enable wireless

Seems like the product page FAQ now states an expected update in February, we'll have to wait and see if this is true or whether they push to a later date

I was looking at a review from this base and one of the best features, apart from the expended storage, is the face recognition so you don't get notifications from you/family.
    CaptainRogers's avatar
    Is that with all cameras?

Only just spotted this - still works as at 11/4/23. Can sell HB2 so not a huge cost for additional features to existing cams. Cheers,Op!
