I must share a tip that I got from a user on this very platform/site. The battery operated wireless Blink cameras of any description can be powered directly from micro USB. You can search amazon for waterproof micor usb cables that comes with the plug for indoors and everything....No more buying batteries you can have your camera on the highest setting to record everything you might want in the best quality and you won't need to pay a penny in new batteries.
The 2nd part of the tip was to install one above your front door if you have the blink doorbell turn off the motion recording on that and set the extra camera sat above the front door to be your motion recorder and again feed it via usb.
The USB cables are thin enough to (in my case anyway) go through closed windows and fed by local socket - But if you want a clean job one 16mm hole thorough the wall feed the usb through and then seal it up and you are done and dusted.....The doorbell batteries will last a year or even two years when they are not set to record anything other than doorbell presses and NOT motion.
The app seems to have been updated lately too which again seems to be performing "better" even without a subscription than it ever did before.

Having just looked at the waterproof usb option, it looks like it's only suitable for a couple of blink camera's and not this unit? Am I missing something?

blink are great for low usage areas - ie rear of property. If you set a schedule (don't have them active all the time as this will eat through batteries - set it to arm when you leave home or go to bed) then my batteries last around 2 years - this is with maybe 2-3 activations per day.

I am grandfathered into the old plan - so no cloud storage fees for me - but i think this comes with sync module 2 - so just attach a usb drive to it again for free storage.

For comparison I also have quite a few ring cameras along with the ring alarm - they are completely different systems - I use ring for my doorbell and a number of outdoor cameras at front of property - blink for inside (when im away from home) and the rear of the property - outbuildings etc)

Seems a good deal to be fair,

    Dave

If it's anything like the doorbell, it'll chew, expensive lithium batteries for breakfast.

Looks like it was designed using a wax crayon

I have this one, but paid £84.99 for it last year. Lights our back patio area up well and gives a better quality recorded image than without the light.

How is the light powered? Does it not charge the camera?

I think the 4 x d batteries included will be for the light - the 2 x aa will be for the camera part.

Got one , use it at the front , high usage with three people living in the house so plenty of comings and goings , lasted two years on first set of batteries , problem is now if you want to record you need an Amazon account and must give permission for it to have access to data , while reason I bought it was that you don’t need an account , great deal for 55 quid though and the quality is perfectly fine

I have an existing none-blink floodlight in my back yard that its on its last leg. it is connected to some junction box which is fed by the mains so its just a matter of disconnecting my existing floodlight from the junction box and add a new one.

this caught my eye and wondered if there is any possibility to power BOTH the blink camera (2 AA battery) and the flood light mount (which has 4 D batteries). Any idea if that is possible?
