About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

As far as i can gather, Ford are stopping making the 1.6 version and replacing with the 1.0 eco boost so they have surplus 1.6 stock to get rid of before the new reg comes out in March.
Price includes a dealer discount of £2100
You have to take out Ford finance to get a further £1950 discount but you can definitely pay it off after the 1st payment if you don't want credit.
The price also includes £500 discount for test driving a ford car (nationwide for promotion for Feb)
Price includes 6 months road tax (although i got 12) and 1 year AA cover.
Red is standard White is £275 extra and metallic is about £575 extra
I got a free diamondbrite pack in mine, but you have to ask for that :-)

Is it possible to keep this thread going for 10 years? Because after that time, and a dozen uncareful owners, and thraped by Boy Racers, and hairdressers crunching gears, it may be in my price range.

Fifth Gear did a standing start quarter mile race for the 1.6 and the 1.0 ecoboost. The ecoboost won.

I own a 1.0 ,125bhp ecoboost and have also driven the 1.6 model.
The 1.0 is smooth with a strange growl to it and pulls much better from low revs as well as being very quiet at motorway speeds.
The problem however is the fuel economy is over 20mpg below Fords official figures.
It's averaging 34.5 with a mixture of town and dual carriageway driving which is pretty common rather than the quoted combined figure of 56.5.
Due to the small engine the turbo is always on boost running well over 200,000 rpm hence a lot of fuel is forced into the engine to achieve the power output it gives out.
The 1.6 at that price is worth going for price wise as the economy is known to be slightly better than the 1.0 in real world driving .

1.0 ecoboost is as good as the current 1.6, lighter too so will be better performance

doesn't say what the BHP is, but the PS figure is usually close. The 1.0 ecoboost for the standard Focus is 125PS. I got the Focus ST170 at the mo, which is 169BHP.. the 170 in the name is the PS figure

I own a 1.6 Zetec but also had a 1.0 for a couple of days while mine was in for service work, The focus is quite a heavy car so it's a lot for a small engine to pull, it was dreadful on fuel, rattling three cylinder engine was noisy, even the salesman at Ford said they are rubbish on fuel unless your doing long journeys.

The 1.6 is smooth, better on fuel and very quiet in comparison.

Better stick to your Scalextric posts - you clearly know nothing about full size cars.

You have clearly never driven a car with an eco-boost engine and/or seen the formula Ford car that runs with the same engine.

Excellent price for an excellent car, particularly new. I have voted hot, but would recommend that people avoid Polar. My experience with my local Polar last year drove me to VW instead.

But was the 1.1 you were loaned the 'EcoBoost' version as is being discussed here? The whole point of the 1.1 ecoboost is that the fuel economy is better than a 1.6 and performance is supposedly similar.

The exta £500 off for a test drive states the car must be registered before Febuary the 28th, which is the day before the 14 plate is released.
If the 14 plate would be worth the extra £500 at trade in time to loose the test drive price reduction for the earlier registration is the question?

PS is an Acronym for the German for horsepower, or 'horse strength' if you take the direct translation!

    This is a great deal!

I read that and thought "200k rpm's? that pretty high for a turbo, arent they normally up to 150k rpm's? surely that cant be right!" ... so i went and researched and I was right, they dont have a maximum of 200k rpm's, the 1l ecoboost engine turbos go up to 248k rpm's!!

That's RRPs for you. Sometimes imaginary, though always inflated to make people believe they are getting a deal. It works very well, a lot of people are very gullible.
