You have to hold a button down on the remote control at the same time as speaking, so that wouldn't work. You'd just end up looking like a proper idiot
Half a story mate. Where was it?!
The voice commands are excellent. My favourites are, "Rewind 30 seconds", "Skip forward 4 minutes" (to skip ad breaks on recorded stuff), "Netfilix" (opens Netflix app) and the programme search.
Unsubstantiated fanboy clap trap and nothing to do with the deal.
Some serious loons about.
Your mobile carrier knows exactly where you are at all times (this is how the police track criminal activities). Your internet provider knows exactly what websites you've been on, for how long, what you clicked and searched for etc. As much money as ISPs make from monthly Internet plans, they make exponentially more from selling your data to advertisers.
Yet, people worry about remotes listening to you sipping a cup of tea.
Just say the channel you want & job done.
I ordered one last year. I wasn't eligible either but some kind soul put the web link on a post here and following that link worked. Maybe someone could post the latest one here.
Biggest benefit for me is that these are bluetooth so you can hide away your mini box.
My Toshiba telly does this using Alexa.
I'm not the best with technology
I have Sonos soundbar and sky q and they work perfectly.
Cracks me up all these conspiracy fed average joes thinking the government wants to find out information about their private life and spy on what lights they turn on and off using alexa. Amazing. You realise when you use ANY phone iPhone or android the companies (Apple or google) can see exactly what you use the phone for, they know what alarms you set, your location if you allow that etc. It’s all in the terms and conditions. Same with windows and same with using the internet in general. These companies only want generic user data so they can better advertise to you. They don’t care about you and your mrs private bedroom chats. If you’re that paranoid just mute it when you aren’t using it.
The user interface is far superior (naturally you’ll take a little time to get used it, as my mother in law is doing quite well right now!).
I mostly took it to get proper 4K, having recently upgraded my telly.
There’s loads of apps added to it too, like Netflix and iPlayer and l that jazz. The installer told me it works as a booster to your WiFi, and I have a box upstairs as well so that’s good.

Just cause it’s an iPhone doesn’t mean it can’t listen in youre way too paranoid for your own good. When do you walk around your house shouting out passwords and bank details so a microphone can pick it up? I’m sure you’re aware if your details get stolen you call up your bank to cancel the card and report it. This is the future, you can hold off for as long as you like. But no one is out there to spy on you. There are far more interesting people that would want to be targeted. I highly doubt 99.99% of people are a target for any interest in the daily goings on of their life. (edited)

I'm one of the few who's not a fan of the new remote. Biggest thing I miss is slow mo feature. Can't believe they got rid of that
It’s defo worth it in my opinion. Very rarely use the upstairs box to be honest, but handy for those days you can’t be bothered getting out of bed and watch homes under the hammer
